Re: Oil Cleansing Method
Maybe it was your mix. I know castor oil is known for bringing blemishes to the surface and I haven't checked almond oil yet. Some of the ladies have to play with their ratios. But if your method works for you no need to fix what isn't broke ;p

Yea, I am just going to stick to what works. I need to stop experimenting but its so many knowledgeable individuals on this site and I just want to try out everyone suggestions.
Re: Oil Cleansing Method
Jojoba oil is also really good for oil cleansing. I usually spot treat with an essential oil like tea tree and apply jojoba oil to the whole face this method dilutes the teatree which can be harsh. I only use this method at night because essential oils react with sunlight and can cause rashes.

Re: Oil Cleansing Method
I agree. The last mix I made was with 70% or so of castor and the remaining jojoba oil. I always added a few drops of tea tree EO. My skin is clearing up nicely. I still get occasional breakouts but the difference is clear. I was also using neem powder and lemon powder for a couple of weeks.[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Mllebutterfly wrote:Jojoba oil is also really good for oil cleansing. The first 2 weeks I noticed some small bumps on my forehead and cheeks becoming more noticeable (I believe hormones after having my kids put them there in the 1st place) and now they have gone down a lot! Of course I haven't been drinking as much water as I should so I need to work on that. But I like this method and I will continue to use it...so glad I found out about it.
I'm also interested in trying this honey/cinnamon/herbs mask mentioned above!

What oils are you ladies using? Ratio?

I use 25% castor oil and 75% evoo. I also moisturize with a drop or two of EVOO on the days in between.

I am going to start doing the OCM a few times a week. Do any of you ladies use coconut oil in your mix? If so, results?
Thanks!

This OCM sounds good. But does it work for dry skin as well?

Re: Oil Cleansing Method
Juices-n-Berries, all of the things that I've read says that this method works great on dry skin. The only difference is that you would use more olive oil instead of castor oil since olive oil is more moisturizing.
I have oily skin and I'm loving it. Also, I'll be 40 at the end of the year and I'm seeing dewy, youthful skin.

Yes, you would just create a mix with more moisturizing oil than cleansing oil.
Re: Oil Cleansing Method
Ok. I'll have to give it a whirl. Thanks!

Ditto what SisterBoyd said. My skin is combination but mostly dry and it works very well for me. I use 25% castor oil and 75% EVOO.
Re: Oil Cleansing Method
I am so loving this method! Also, I want to add that I use a little shea butter afterwards as my moisturizer. When I wake up in the morning I have dewy skin that look almost flawless.
Re: Oil Cleansing Method
you know how castor oil on your scalp is supposed to make hair thicker, does doing the OCM make your eyebrows thicker? i was thinking about starting the OCM and coincidentally this lady waxed my brows thinner than i would like & i was wondering if the castor oil did anything...

Re: Oil Cleansing Method
From what has been said in this thread yes castor oil can make your eyelashes longer and your brows thicker. I, personally, haven't seen those results and I just arched my eyebrows yesterday.

I've tried 70% coconut oil and 30% castor oil mix and it was drying. I've changed to 35% coconut oil, 35% grapeseed oil and 30% castor oil and this has been my winter mixture and I love it. During the summer I increase the castor oil to 50%.
Re: Oil Cleansing Method
Is this method good for teens? my 13 year old is having such a hard time with the acne/blemishes. She has oily skin, like her dad, fair skinned like him too. So its very noticiable and around her nose is dark with what looks to be blackheads. Took her to the dermatologist last year, he gave her benzoil 4% wash..made it worse if you ask me. I know this is a normal phase for teens, but kids can be cruel and I want to protect and help my "baby" any way I can..
thanks
thanks

Re: Oil Cleansing Method
70's BabyGirl, I think it will work if she is diligent about doing it. Since she has oily skin with acne I would suggest starting with 75% castor oil and 25% olive oil. You can play with the measurements and add other oils until you find the perfect combination. Neem, jojoba, and grapeseed oils are known to help acne. You'll still need a moisturing carrier oil, which would be olive, coconut, and avocado oils. However, I would suggest starting with castor and olive oil first.
Also, I would suggest she do a sugar/lemon scrub at least 1-2 times a week.

And she'll still need to moisturize and I like raw shea butter. Also, a bentonite clay mask would help bi-weekly.
I hope this helps

Extract Virgin Olive Oil
