Oil Cleansing Method
Never in a million years would I have thought that putting oil on top of my already oil slick skin would help with my OILY SKIN. Sounds crazy right? I thought so too until I gave it a try. Those Clean and Clear Oil Absorbing Sheets used to be see through by the time I dabbed and blotted it over my face. Needless to say I didn't buy them again. Anyway, what I did was put my oil 75%Almond Oil to 25% Castor & a few drops of lavendar oil in a small glass bottle with a dropper(like a childrens medicine bottle). Every other day I fill up the dropper twice and squeeze the oil into my hand. I then massage the oil all over my face including my eyelids/lashes(my eyelashes are growing [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] ). I do this for a good minute or two depending on how I'm feeling. Get a facecloth/washcloth and wet it with warm water(warm enough to get a little steam). Cover your face with the cloth pressing down to allow the heat to open your pores. I repeat this 2 or 3 times using the washcloth to gently wipe my face off the last time. When I'm done my face feels AMAZING. My problem skin has been looking a lot healthier, I no longer have oily skin, and only occasional breakouts(my hormones are still adjusting after having my son). I love it and won't be buying any more commercial cleansers for my face. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
A few snippets from The Oil Cleansing Method.com
"Do not be afraid of applying oil to your face. Oil, alone, will not bring
you blemishes. Pimples, cysts, zits, blackheads, whiteheads...these are
a result of several different factors including hormones, bacteria, dead
skin cells and the buildup of these factors."
"The basic concept of this skin care and cleansing method is that the
oil used to massage your skin will dissolve the oil that has hardened
with impurities and found itself stuck in your pores. The steam will open
your pores, allowing the oil to be easily removed. Should you need it,
the smallest drop of the same oil formula patted over damp skin will provide
the necessary lubrication to keep your skin from over-compensating in
oil production."

"Some suggestions in creating your blend of deep cleansing oil:
You don't have to use Sunflower oil. As I stated I use Almond Oil. Some people use Olive Oil. Just use what works for you.
- Oily Skin: Try a blend of 30% Castor Oil to 70% Sunflower Seed
Oil.- Balanced Skin: Try a blend of 20% Castor Oil to 80% Sunflower
Seed Oil.- Dry Skin: Try a blend of 10% Castor Oil to 90% Sunflower Seed
Oil."
Re: Oil Cleansing Method
Thanks for the posting:) Now...let's back to the eyelash growth- did it really grow? how long was it before you noticed the growth? was it thickening or lengthening? I am very close to getting that Latisse product...but i dont know man :?:

Re: Oil Cleansing Method
I don't use the oil cleansing method, per se, but I do use oil as my moisturizer and it does make your eyelashes grow. I use coconut oil and/or jojoba oil or castor oil. Depending on how dry or tight my face feels. I am normally combo-Tzone oily but in the winter I need a bit more moisture then usual. But anyway, yes certain oils grow facial hair! My eyebrows fill in a lot faster, too! lol

I have a girlfriend with oily skin that swears by this method...her skin always looks good when I see her. I'll try to get in touch with her, and get back with you guys.

Your welcome gammainme! With the eyelashes its lengthening for me. I don't know if it varies from person to person. I've read that you can just apply castor oil to your eyelashes before going to bed at night and your eyelashes will grow. Just be careful not to get it in your eyes! I'd say hold off on the Latisse and try this for about a month. Let us know what happens sis.

Re: Oil Cleansing Method
I love the OCM, been using it since January. The only thing I've noticed about my eyelashes is that I don't get those painful eyelashes that are on the verge of coming out and just hang there and get on my nerves every time I blink. So that's a good thing LOL!

Re: Oil Cleansing Method
@ gammainme ... Stay away from Latisse!! Lol that stuff can cause iris discoloration.. NO BUENO. If you want to grwo your eyelashes, go to any beauty section of a store, say Sephora, and buy a eyelash wand. (the kind that looks like the ones that come with mascara).... get a little glass bottle and use either olive oil, castor oil, or vitamin E oil...whichever you prefer... to apply to your lashes just like you would mascara. They'll grow phenomenally, I promise.

The more i looked into it, the risks are not worth it (discoloration and even dark circles under your eyes) - so it scares the daylights out of me- that's really good idea Queen- thank ya girl- ill keep you posted.

Re: Oil Cleansing Method
Are you serious? Oil cleansing? I'm going to try it. I only have castor and olive oil. So I just put it on and cover with hot towel? I'm excited. My face doesn't fare well with commercial cleansers.
Re: Oil Cleansing Method
Ok I tried this out last night and I must say it felt nasty lol. But after the steam and wiping it off it felt refreshing and, surprisingly, not oily. Do I do this every night? I'm think every other night will work for now. You think?
Re: Oil Cleansing Method
I think I read somewhere a few times a week- im on week 2 and you're right, it feels so nice after i steam it off

Re: Oil Cleansing Method
OCM has been great for my skin. I usually follow up at nights with EVCO or EVOO and my skin is always glowing and never oily. I thought for years that you had to spend a grip of cash to have beautiful skin. It's a relief to know that almost all of what I need for my hair and skin is in my kitchen. Every night would be a bit too much I believe. I do it every other day. I've noticed a considerable improvement in my skin. My hormones have been out of whack & probably wont be back to normal until I'm done breastfeeding but it looks and feels so much better now. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
Glad you chicas tried it and like it!

Re: Oil Cleansing Method
@gammainme its not too bad. But it gets dry and begins to itch at times. I'm not a water drinker......that's my problem I believe. People say I look much younger than I really am. I'm Hopi this OCM will take it to the next level lol. Always room for improvement.
Re: Oil Cleansing Method
I'm noticing such improvement in my skin more and more with this method. Now if I could just get my dry nose to act right and get rid of these dark spots. Any suggestions ladies? My nose gets super dry in these cold weather months while the rest of my face is soft and moisturized. What gives?
Re: Oil Cleansing Method
wet your nose with a little water and then put some castor oil on it b4 going to bed each night. I have the same problem and this worked for me, works great for chapped lips as well.

Re: Oil Cleansing Method
The key to the OCM is finding out what ratio works best with your skin. I recommend starting with the OCM website's guidelines and adjusting your mixture from there. I've been using it semi-regularly for about a year. It's great when I remember to do it!
