I hate it when...

Hello ladies,
Being natural comes with it's ups and downs. We have all had our great and crappy hair days. What do you hate that your haird does or doesnt do, or people say/dont say do or dont do in regards to your hair?

I hate it when..
1. people touch my hair without my permission
2. I spend hours twisting only to have a frizzy twist-out
3. My hair shrinks the next day after I twist
4. It's windy outside if i'm wearing my hair out

what pet peeves do you have in regards to your hair?....

I hate it when you first BC and all people can say is Ohhhhhh My you cut all your hair...Why did you do that..(pause...pause..pause..pause) but I like it.

I also can't stand when people just stare like they want to say something...ugh

O....and when people say can I touch your hair....(in my head I'm Like touch it for what)

That annoys me.

^^ ditto on the comments after you first BC. All I got was "You cut all that long pretty hair... Why??" WTH because I wanted to duh! And then the most irritating thing is my stepdad, everytime he sees me he's like "I don't know why you cut it, that's not the real you" Hmmm... so letting the hair God gave me grow straight out of my head without altering it isn't me being me?? Well then...

I can't stand when people tell me they couldn't stop relaxing because they don't have good hair. They just refuse to give their natural hair even the smallest chance, and I always have to remind that there is no such thing as good hair. Hate that phrase.

I completely agree! I HATE that term! The sad part is A LOT of people have that mentality.
I hate when they praise your natural hair and say oh "well you can do that, you got that goos hair" [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] really?..

I hate that my hair takes forever to dry. If I wash it and decide to do some twists for a twist out, it takes at least a day and a half for the twists to dry. So frustrating!

I have to agree with 4everNatural... I just [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] and keep it moving...mstokes2008 dont worry about your stepdad hun I notice alont people change their tune about natural hair when the length gets longer... Everybody I have spoken to that rocked the twa got the same darn comment made to them but once that hair got longer that same person that was hating ended up biting their lip and complimenting whatever...

When people act ignorant and childish when it comes to someone wearing their hair naturally. It's my hair, I care for it not you. Get a life and go take care of those edges.

I dont like my detangling sessions. I cant wait until my hair is longer enough to put about 6 twist in after I detangle instead of about 30 twist.

Omg Lynnie I have to agree. I can't part at all I have to guess. Oh well patience is key.

When people (mainly my grandma and mom) say you/you daughter gonna wear your/her hair like that? And before I can say yes, they say i hope not. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] Then I typically respond whatever, I still love you with your perm and with your wigs on. ( me and my fam we just talk like that).

I really can't stand when they make comments about my daughter hair. In her 2 strand twists or afro puffs. Cause when i was her age they would press and shirley temple curl me to death. And they assume her hair is matted cause it is frizzy. Really! Just add water and I can finger detangle her hair. Sorry for the rant.

Your her mama and you know what's best for your daughters hair keep up the good work mom... Iam a mother and I never plan on perming my baby's hair and suprising engough every time people see my daughter hair they be like please dont perm that baby hair... Of course not... I wouldnt do that so she would have to go thru what Iam going thru now NO WAY!

2. People pull my twist to watch them bounce
3. People say "why don't you perm all that pretty hair so that we can see it"

I completely agree! Plus, half the time people don't know what their REAL hair looks like because it's always permed. So technically they don't even know what their so-called not "good" hair looks like because they haven't seen it since 2.

When my hair looks great and I have nowhere to go, I FIND somewhere to go lol. A stroll through the mall or wal-mart if its late =)

1. I can't stand it when people touch my hair! Even before it was natural but especially now!

2. People assume that I have Cancer or some other disease because my hair is short or I weare wraps. (During the winter I had a fade and I wore hats all the time cuz I live in Colorado and my head was cold!)

Where to start.....

1) Over use of natural nicknames and Black power references. Calling me Erykah once is cool. After the 30th time, it aint funny.
2) Touching. I didn't like it when I was relaxed or weaved. Don't like it now.
3) The frizzy twist out. I hate it with a passion unless it comes out looking good. lol

1. When my curls are on point and people automatically assume its fake .. I thought we were past this

2. I'm standing on line only to turn around and find the person (usually a woman) standing behind me with her head 2cm. away from hair

3. My hair looks awesome in the morning and come the afternoon its a frizzy mess

I hate it when:

1. Someone calls my hair "naps" or "nappy". I don't know why, but that's a derogatory comment to me.
2. People say, "Why don't you stick with one style". I want to say, "Why DO you?"
3. Like the other ladies, my hair looks great and I have no where to go. I've made many unnecessary trips to WalMart, only to end up buying MORE hair products.
4. I first cut my hair and the guys at work were like, "What happened?". I cut my hair, Fool!!
5. People say, "Your hair used to be so pretty". I think it's prettier now.
6. People feel the need to tell me they don't like my hair style, and recruit others' opinions. Urgh!!!

I could go on and on!

i go to a school where there are mostly asians. so during spirit week we had a waky hair day, so i decided to do something id never do any other day. I put some gell in my hair and combed it out(without gel it would have looked blow dried). My hair goes below my shoulders so my fro was huge. When people saw the were like wow [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] then they whispered to their friends and pointed at me then their friends turned around like [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] . This one asain chick asked me if she could touch it. Then she asked if she could lose a pencil in it. when i come to school with it blow dried on another day (i had swimming for pe that morning and i let it(my hair) out of its pony before we got in , the ponytail was too tight and i was afraid it would get tangled and it would hurt to take the pony tail out later) she asked me how i got it teased like that. (This is the same girl both times) Honestly i couldnt help but laugh at her ignorance, i wasnt offended i just felt sorry for her.
