6 months!
Apparently its been six months since my first bc!
i say "first bc" because technically i bc-ed three times. The first time i had a relaxed short bob and decided i wanted to go natural, so i cut it down to 1-2 inches of hair. The second time, my natural hair was starting to sprout, but it came in wavy because it was "scab hair" and i cut all the strait ends off. The 3rd time, i went to a salon to get it bc-ed and my real texture had grown in so i got most of the wavy pieces cut off.
After that, i trimmed my hair every couple of weeks to cut off the last pieces and gradually they got less and less noticeable.
Today i cut off the last of it (i hope [the back is hard to get lol)
And now for the twists!
here are my twists (super short and scalpy but hey, i was only twisting for a twist out lol)
my twists freshly untwisted
here i separated some of the twists individually then massaged all around (sidenote: unintentional part lol)
afterwards i got all glammed up to take pics lol
and here are the babies the poodle is Matt and the chihuahua is Bloo

Good Morning!
Good morning everyone! Its my first day of school today and im already done! The first couple of days are just for introductions to the teachers and school system so they arent that long.
And in hair related news, one of those Carol's Daughter store-places opened up in the mall. My sister and i went in and one of the staff showed us around the store, gave us free hand massages (my hands were so soft afterwards!), and put some stuff in my hair (a leave-in, hair milk, and a hair sheen).
Granted: my hair smelt delicious! but im not sure if it actually did anything for my hair .
I mean, curls were popping up all over the place, and my hair was shiny enough to blind the BLIND, but it wasnt soft.
Then it made me start thinking: when has my hair even been soft?
Ive tried many different conditioners and moisturizers but my hair doesnt really get soft. Its firm. It feels moisturized, but firm. The only time my hair feels "soft" is while im conditioning it.
Im starting to wonder whats going on with it. Is it my products? Do i not HAVE the right products? Or does my hair just do that? hmm. . .

Re: Cherry: extraordinary!
my 1st day back to school was today too! but do you DC?...& if you do, do you use a protein condish or moisturizing? do you use alot of gels? the firmness also could be coming from product build up

iri9109: I do dc once a week but after my hair dries it gets firm again even with leave-in conditioners Im not sure if there is protein in it but that was one of the things i was supposed to check. I typically dont use gels unless im styling my hair and im not sure if its product build-up since my hair gets firm after i wash it anyway but idk

Soft hair!
Last night i Googled "how to get softer hair" (im serious lol) and i found a load of homemade DC recipes. Most of them were comprised of Mayonnaise, egg, and some sort of oil. So i thought "what the hey, might as well try it." There were many variations but the recipe i settled on had 1 egg, 1/2 a cup of mayo, and a few drops of jojoba oil.
The recipe said (in short) that i should shampoo my hair, use my "dc", then shampoo again.
Typically, im a co-washer, so the thought of shampooing my hair twice (without conditioner no less!) made me cringe, but instructions are meant to be followed so i did anyway.
I shampooed my hair in the sink then applied my "dc" (sidenote: it made my hair smell like a sandwich lol). I then put a shower cap on and hopped in the shower. After about 15 minutes i rinsed out the "dc" (which was running down my face at that point) and shampooed.
Afterwards i dried off my hair and applied a leave-in conditioner (Kinky Curly: Knot-Today). My hair was noticeably shiner and a tad bit softer!
Now im starting to wonder if my hair just needed more protein, or maybe it needs to be dc-ed more often. hmm. . . well i certainly will experiment with my hair to figure it out. Anywho, im off to class now so ill return to CN later

Re: Cherry: extraordinary!
Are you still in "online" school?
It could have been that you need to shampoo your hair. How often do you shampoo/clarify?

Re: Cherry: extraordinary!
LOL@ the DC smelling like a sandwich, I did one like that when I was still transitioning and it was the most disgusting experience of my life. LOL, but I do think my hair was softer afterward and it definitely smelled like a ham sandwich when it was on my head. I just co-washed since I wasn't shampooing towards the end of my transition. I may try one again to see if it'll get the left side of my hair to be a little curlier since I have a looser texture over there.
But if you're going to do more shampooing, maybe you should consider getting a sulfate-free shampoo. I shampoo my hair once a week (if I feel a need to wash again before my next hair day I just co-wash) using a sulfate free shampoo and I haven't had any problems with dryness at all.
And that twist-out is fab! I usually love mine when they are bigger and a little less defined if I do smaller twists

Re: Cherry: extraordinary!
I need to find a sulfate-free shampoo well. . . thats not true; i need to find a JOB so i can buy a sulfate-free shampoo What i really need is to start myself on a "product junkie challenge" where i can only spend the money i get on hair products lol (since i stay at home most of the time all my money gradually gets spent on online game accounts )
and thanks i love when the twist-outs are chunky but still kinda defined; its really cool because its like its neat and messy at the same time ha
