Re: NEW CASTOR OIL CHALLENGE
Hey Fluer ...u know what, i am going to try this weekend fingers cross. I have the hardest problem with style and it is time i try something new.
One last questions. Do you do them with a comb or with your hand? Or can u suggest a good youtube video where i can get an idea?
My hair is about 6-8'' long and i am not sure if i can do it with a comb.
Thanks

Re: NEW CASTOR OIL CHALLENGE
You can do it, sister! Sometimes I use my fingers or a comb to do the coils. Just load up on your castor oil and a cream-based moisturizer or gel. Here are some tutorials at your request:

Thanks Tiff, you are really sweet. You are really handling your transition beautifully. You are handling it so much better than I did--just beautiful. Thanks for the compliment about the makeup. Maybe I'll do a tutorial one day!

Re: NEW CASTOR OIL CHALLENGE
Sooooooooooooooooooo, I've been thinking way ahead. What do we use for scalp moisture when it gets warm? I don't want a greasy head walking around on top of the heat sooooooooo, any ideas?

Re: NEW CASTOR OIL CHALLENGE
That's right, MissyCee. I hadn't thought about that. The first thing that comes to mind is maybe some kind of spritz with water and some essential oils.???? Can you mix honey with that? I mean will it dissolve or mix properly? I'm just throwing stuff out there

Re: NEW CASTOR OIL CHALLENGE
I would say coconut or jojoba oils would be good options since they are lighter oils and no where near as thick as castor. But I still think castor oil could be used just maybe more sparingly. Good point though Missy.
Re: NEW CASTOR OIL CHALLENGE
Jojoba might be good. Hmmmm. I just want to make sure I use a lighter oil. Maybe if I cut the castor oil with something else???? Not sure.

Re: NEW CASTOR OIL CHALLENGE
I am thinking jojoba with a hint of castor for the warm weather. Plus I will be spraying water aloe Vera juice. I failed at the coils, I mean major fail. So, I put my hair in Bantu knots last night. I didn't take them down due to the 9 inches snow we woke up to.

Re: NEW CASTOR OIL CHALLENGE
So for the links that Fluer posted above, was I supposed to see something? I only saw a registration page. Is there another way to get into those sites?

Re: NEW CASTOR OIL CHALLENGE
Hey everybody! ***Wave***
If you do, please let me know. I have been wanting to experiment with make-up but I always end up looking like a clown when I try to do it, lol. Its fun to play in though. Thank you! I try to stick with one thing until I feel I have really gotten the hang of it. I am thinking now its time to move on to a new style for a while. I guess it also helps that I am very patient with my hair.Fleur wrote:Thanks Tiff, you are really sweet. You are really handling your transition beautifully. I was wondering about that the other day. Its warmed up considerably here. I am likely going to use that as my excuse to try jojoba oil. I saw your post about lurking too. Lol, you are too funny! I like sharing what works for me b/c I know the process can get frustrating from some. CN has definitely given me oodles of tips, tricks, and hints, lol.MissyCee wrote:Sooooooooooooooooooo, I've been thinking way ahead. What do we use for scalp moisture when it gets warm? How do you do your Bantu knots? I can never get mine to hold and my ends always look a scraggly mess. Any tips??Thinice wrote:I am thinking jojoba with a hint of castor for the warm weather. Re: NEW CASTOR OIL CHALLENGE
Tiff, I've been lurking around the makeup thread also. They have some cool ideas. I wa thinking I need to try to spice up myself in makeup also. I've never really worn makeup, but my 16 year old daughter is always saying let me make you up mom. So I've tried a few things. Some shadows and a different mascara, my lashes are so thin. It's working so far, no clown effect yet!!!

@tiff: this is my first doing a Bantu knots and a Bantu knot. I followed naptural85 's tutorial on YouTube. Of all the videos I've watched, hers made it easy to do. I will post pics tomorrow once I take it down.

Re: NEW CASTOR OIL CHALLENGE
I'm out of JBCO until I get my shipment in probably tomorrow or Wednesday so I'm thinking about using regular castor...
I wonder if I will get the same benefit on my scalp as the JBCO. I love it on my hair (blended) though...

Re: NEW CASTOR OIL CHALLENGE
Ok. so I have a question.
What is really the difference between JBCO and regular Castor Oil?. I have been using the regular for a long time and never even thought about using JBCO, but i might try it when i run out.
Just want to know if there is any significant difference? Does it do anything differently to your hair than the regular? I can get the JBCO fairly easy and willing to giveit a try if the results vary from the regular.
Have a good day all!!!
