Family Karaoke is a cool place because they offer private rooms for groups with 2 hour time slots...Meaning we wont have to make a fool out ourselves publicly...I need to know how many people are coming so that I know what size room to get...I figure everyone could pay $3 and that would cover total price of room....They also offer food and drinks for those that are interested. Did it snow there Wednesday? We've had some very cold weather this year!! I wish I could attend the Dallas meet-up, but I've got so much going on. I'll be in Dallas in September (I hope) so maybe I'll get to me a few of the Dallas curlies then.

Hey Lovelies!

I promised more of an update, so let's gooooooooooo:

Weight Loss/Fitness: Unfortunately, I gained 4 lbs during the Snowpocalypse in Dallas earlier this month...comfort food...blah! The good news? I weighed in last week with a 5.6 lb drop! Sooo...the snow weight is officially gone and my Weight Watchers leader is no longer giving me the side eye. Onward and downward...

The Dash Down Greenville 5K is 3/12 and I'm feeling good about it. I'm not going to break any records, but I will be moving.


Travel News - I'm heading to Vegas at the end of March to celebrate my BFF's birthday, I booked a trip to San Juan in August (nice way to celebrate my 1 year big chop anniversary, huh? LOL) and the beau and I are taking a cruise in November. 2011 is shaping up to be a good travel year!

Hair and things of that nature...

I hit 6 months on 2/18! Hooray for Coco! I had a friend that didn't think I'd make it...not only did I make it, but I'm here to stay. I am so pleased with my growth. I got 3 inches in most areas and about 2.5 in my trouble spots. No complaints from me. My hair is THICK again...and it hasn't been that way since my pre-relaxer days as a kid. Looking forward to the next 6 months!

No worries! The group used to meet up every 2-3 months, but it has grown so much, the organizer is now doing monthly events. I'll keep you posted on the March event!

Great group of ladies...it was awesome to be surrounded by so many lovely curlies. We definitely got attention at the karaoke place.

and im so jealous of ur travel dates, i need to get it together n use some of my dmn leave up for some vacay! thats one thing i definitely need to do more is travel.

Aww...you should be able to see the pics now. Thanks for the congrats! I'm feeling pretty good about it. My poor scalp was TORTURED, so I'm glad my scalp/hair are recovering nicely. Girl, I'm a corporate travel agent, so I consider it part of my job to go on as many trips as possible. LOL

I love your progress pictures. I was in the mirror today and i made a decision, I am going to cut my hair. I was on you-tube trying to find the right cut. I thought about it and i said crissy go and visit cc thread, her cut is fabu. The good thing with my hair is that I have so much shrinkage I can get away with a twa if i add water. Well i will keep you updated.

Thank you, Cris! Yes...shrinkage is a blessing and a curse. I figure if I want SL hair unstretched, it will have to stretch to my kneecap. LOL

Your progress pics are nice too. I need to get better about consistently documenting my journey. It's always good to see your progress.

You are doing some traveling for real. I was just reading an article that talked about how people get more fulfillment out of experiences like traveling than material things. It was another sign to me about some travel plans I've been wanting to do and haven't done yet, like traveling abroad. I'm planning to go somewhere this year for my bday but probably in Fall. My bday is in July and that's when everybody is out and it's hot all the places I'm interested in. Waiting til it's cooler here and then go someplace fabulous like Aruba or St. Bart's. I'd like to go to Spain in the future too. Happy travels!

Hey Lovelies...here's a little update for ya!

Weight Loss/Fitness
I don't know if I mentioned it here, but I recomitted to Weight Watchers 3 weeks ago (I've been playing with the same few lbs for awhile). I pledged to follow the program to the letter and it's paid off. I'm down 8 lbs in the last 3 weeks...woooohooo! This journey has been LONG, but I'm glad things are still improving.

Dash Down Greenville 5K is next weekend and I feel ready for it. I've been balancing interval training on the treadmill with spin classes and the ocassional outdoor shuffle.

My company is doing a weight loss challenge among the various regions and our area is VERY competitive. I think the contest will definitely help me kick things up a notch.


Hair
Still in love! I finally got my hands on the Oyin Honey Hemp and I love it as a leave-in. Spring weather has finally made it to Texas (today's high is 76), so the plan was to replace the AOHC with a lighter product and the Honey Hemp is agreeing with my hair for now. I also cut back on the castor oil and brought coconut back into my life.

Oh and I'm pleased to announce I can *finally* see my growth! Not too shabby for 6 months. My shrinkage is a BEAST, but it's mine! LOL

Thanks, Lynnie! LOL Yes, I'll do a length check this weekend. My workers were tripping at the little twisted style because it showed more length. I usually come to work with my shrunken WNG. haha

No major hair update. LOL I haven't changed anything in the last 10 days. I cowashed this morning and twisted while listening to Adele.

In other news, the Dash Down Greenville was a success. I was pleased with my pace and hope to improve a bit more before the Komen Race for the Cure next month!
