thank you!!! i can't wait!!! i think i want another foot of unstretched hair...but seeing these photos making me realize that an extra 6 inches of unstretched hair would be just fine. if this is the case then i guess i would have reached my hair goal by this time next year?

Re: Dajewel's Hair Challenge^_^
hey, there curlies!
i have finally gotten around to washing my hair. i started the process with applying a pre-poo of castor oil (to make the hair more receiving of water), evco ( i was running low of evoo) and evoo (cuz it helps to spread the castor oil easier). saturated my twists as much as possible with this combo. left on hair for like 8 hours or so.
then primarily cleansed scalp with a lil dab of CD's Tui Shampoo in half dollar size of whole foods 365 herbal mint conditioner. why i do this? cd tui shampoo gives my hair a "too clean" feeling. primarily when i wash i am really washing the scalp while still maintaining moisture and tangles of my hair. so, i tend to add a lil of this shampoo to a conditioner that has a ceteryl alcohol or the like) and/or detangling agent (behentrimonium methosulfate, behentrimonium chloride, marshmellow root, etc). the last time i used this conditioner as deep condish was about a year ago, and i wasn't impressed. since i don't wasting things, i kept it so that i can make it work anyway, esp since i said i would use it again when the weather gets cooler. why? because it has peppermint extract which aids in circulation in the scalp and continues the similar growth that i am used to in the hotter months.
rinsed this out with warm water. added qhemet biologics castor oil and moringa oils softening serum to hair as my oil rinse (since i ran out of evoo and wanted to try this product). i like how it smells lemony. the tingly from the peppermint and this smell combined just made wash day even more fun. i then added the eo conditioner for normal to dry hair. left on hair since yesterday in the evening...in fact i still have it in my hair lol. will rinse in an hour or so and retwist my hair.
UPDATE: here is a pic of me finished twists. this is pic is exactly one year ago than the bottom pic
this month 2009

Re: Dajewel's Hair Challenge^_^
hey kittens!!
today's pic post are of my hair in june of this year. my hair is a result of a twist out on hair that was cleansed with bentonite clay. it was my first and so far only time using a clay to rinse. i really do love bentonite clay cleanse...as a clarifier. it left my hair unbelievably soft and coily (shrinkage) and cleansed. i didn't realize how soft and coily and vulnerable my hair was when i did this until after i untwisted: my hair was toooooo moisturized. i realized that after the clay cleanse i deep condish and styled with nothing but products that added and retained moisture...i should have followed up the clarifying cleanse with serious strengthening conditioning. i did take note that i don't use products that encourage build up, and so bentonite clay cleanse will prolly be used once a year.
my hair shurken in a good way. these are pics of me trying to style my hair. i ended up with the high ponytail for the day
i used a goodie's headband...my hair looks like a wash and go but it really sin't
a low bun
a puff but i don't think it qualifies as a puff because it looks like a high ponytail

Re: Dajewel's Hair Challenge^_^
hey, guys!! i got my first bottles of ayurveda oils ever yesterday in the mail!!
i got bhringaraj and neem oil. am expecting amla oil as well as some stuff ordered from butters n bars.
My scalp, imo, is not as healthy as it can be. For the most part it is fine, but i do have a lil dryness and slight itchies. also, i would like to see if i can decrease the amount of shed hairs because shed hairs make my detangling sessions long. I am very interested in making my scalp as healthy as possible, and so after much research I believe oils and powders in ayurvedic medicine would help me achieve this.
i got this bhringaraj oil. i have been interested in massaging my scalp with sesame oil, and this oil is sesame oil based. i also got this oil because i have researched that it helps prevent premature hair loss. i am not losing my hair, but i do believe prevention is key...and for some odd reason i keep thinking am gonna loss my hair when i am in my 60s (although everyone has thick hair in my family well into their advanced age). i also like how the oil is a like a multi-vitamin for the hair and it helps to soothe the brain and sleep. so, last night i massage my scalp with the oil. i immediately felt my scalp tingle a lil and say ahhh . the smell is pungent....kinda like boulion even when used in itty bity small amounts. luckily the smell is gone by morning. i noticed i gradually felt relaxed and my sleep was heavy and good, esp since i was already sleeping during the afternoon and i usually can't sleep at night if am sleeping in the afternoon.
stay tuned:)

Re: Dajewel's Hair Challenge^_^
hey guys!!! i have quite a bit of info to post so bare with me;)
First up, pics from this week. I untwisted my twists on Wednesday for the first Christmas party of the season
this was my outfit to the party. i separated the untwisted twists to create a more fuller look. the pic doesn't do the dress justice. it is a taupe underneath with a lace overlay. the collar is BLINGED out with black gems and the link. i got the dress from bebe:) they also have the red one, but i thought the black dress was more timeless: i can wear it alot after the holidays.

Re: Dajewel's Hair Challenge^_^
this is how am wearing my hair today.
the weather today is not as cold and brutal as during this past week. so, today was a perfect day for me to wear my hair like this without worrying if my hair will get dry or tangled. i am really happy with the progress of my hair
btw: not a blow out...blow outs are like a light press for me

Re: Dajewel's Hair Challenge^_^
1)lastnight i oiled and massaged my scalp with this amla oil that i ordered from amazon. love love love the smell!! is so sweet! a lil goes a long way. the smell was a lil too much though as i slept despite using a lil bit. i think this amla oil will be permanent fixture in my regi!
2) i also got my package from butters n bars!! this is my first purchase from her, and if you haven't purchased then u missing out!
i ordered neem and amla powders along with the medicated shampoo (which is enough to last me two to three years) and the herbal spritz in wild berry (smells yummy)! in addition for receiving 15% off of my order, I also got two free boxes of tusli powder (anybody used this before? thoughts?), a shikakai bar and shikakai shampoo (which smells way too strong and not to inviting...we shall see what i will do...esp cuz the expiration date is jan 2011...). quite honestly, i have enough to last me at least a year or two.
regardless, whatever i use first i will also incorporate tulsi powder with, as it has an expiration or best used by date the soonest out of all the powders: march 2011...
3) i got a wicked load of Goody hair accessories (head bands, bobby pins) from my local dollar store! i was too excited cuz this stuff is more expensive in wal-mart, target, etc
4) i plan on experimenting with flexirods tuesday/wednesday ish. i got a pack from ross for $1.99 while sally's had them for $8 and some change
