Style Idea
Here is a style, I plan to try with bantu knots.Muz wrote:YAY! Thanks! Out or protected, either way is fine with me. The less I have to do to it between washes (I usually wash once a week unless my scalp starts itching), the happier I am. Oh, and I have to agree with you on the V05, I've been using that the last couple of months and I LOVE it. I also tried Aussie Moist this past Saturday, and I love that too. I wish I'd discovered co-washing sooner. . .
1) Section hair in the front from ear to ear (I think it should be done on damp hair since hair is weakest when wet)
2) Clip the back and make parts in the front (large, medium or small)
3) Either two strand flat twist, single strand flat twist or braid the front
4) When you get to the end of each twist or braid, put in a bantu knot (don't forget to add extra moisture here and seal before you do the knot)
5) For the back, you can do a bantu knot out or do the same thing you did in the front
6) If there are bantu knots from the front and back, after a few days you can release them and have a bantu knot out
7)Pins can help you arrange the bantu knot out
Strong Teas
Kea::curls wrote:As for the brewed tea, do you mean that you make green tea (as though to drink it without sugar) but cool it in the frig & then do your final rinse? i just want to make sure i understand, before i go rummaging through my kitchen cabinets!
Yes, you are correct. Other good teas known for promoting blood circulation are gotu kola, fenugreek and ginkgo. A good site to research herbs is http://www.mountainroseherbs.com/. I make the tea strong and have not seen any ill effects from it. I have done it more off than on since August.
Tip: Pour it from the front back to promote smoothing of the cuticle even more.
Hi Cococurly
cococurly wrote:@chrs.... Thanks for accepting me as a little sis. It feels good to have experienced backup and support. So after my "BC" on tomorrow, my planned regimen will be:
Cowash with Aussie Moist 2x's/wk depending on my hair needs
DC every wk. with AOHSR
Sulfate free shampoo every mtn b/c of cones etc..
Leave in cond with KC Knot today or Giovanni direct
Seal with coconut oil /unrefined shea butter
Style TWA with KCCC
How long would you recommend I stick with these products b/f trying something new? I have so many products I want to try, but I want to give each product a fair chance b/f changing to a different one. I will definitely listen to my hair 1st, but I know it will take a while b/f I find staple products, and know what my hair likes and doesn't like.
Any suggestions or changes in my regimen will be greatly appreciated. Also, When you deep cond. should you cowash or deep cond. 1st or does it matter?
I'll make sure that I post pics after my "BC" tomorrow [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
Welcome and Hello to all the other little sisters!!! [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
First, congrats on the BC today. I look forward to the pictures.
Your regimen is one I suggest sticking with at least three months. I state three months since you will only cleanse with shampoo once a month. (Ever thought of clarifying with baking soda? Let me know)
A good way to test a product is to use it as stated for the most part. As for conditioners, that is a whole 'nother story. Use a lot of conditioner--your hair will love you for it. Your product selection is admirable--lots of natural products.
As far as when to DC, it's a matter of preference. I prefer to DC after cleansing. Why? Well, I figure this is the good stuff, I do not want it applied to hair that is not at it's most 'naked' state. Try both and note the differences, if any.
BTW, I love AOHSR and coconut oil.
Re: Big Sister
I am glad everyone is asking questions cause alot of them are questions that I have...
This question is for anyone really...when buying henna online do you use pay pal accounts? I really am not that much into online shopping, but when I do I usually buy from bigger companies, and I never worry about being scamed out of my money. I am just a lil afraid to order from some of these smaller companies...if you know what I mean...

Here's a pic of my hair today, I went to my jobs Christmas Party:

So are you going to keep it that length? Or grow it out?
Re: Big Sister
@Muz... I sorry, I gave you incorrect info. I transitioned for 4 1/2 mtns. I'm loving my length now, but a plan to let it grow out. I have always had short hair. I was never able to grow my hair out relaxed, because it would break off. Im interested to see how long it will grow now.
Thanks you guys for the compliments, I am loving my hair.
