Very cute! Loved your pinned up look in the 2nd pic. Good luck with classes this semester!
Re: Kea::Curls
Thanks ladies !!!
@ Eden: originally I was planning on trying to keep it in until Thursday (wash out on Friday). But i'm not sure if I can make it, because I can already feel alot of build-up from the Cantu...sigh. And of course...co-washing brings my hair such JOY

Just an excuse to "play" in our hair. I'm with you on that one.

Re: Kea::Curls
Happy Wednesday, Beautiful People
I've been thinking about how the Cantu is working in my hair. I'm just not sure about it. I haven't experienced any white flakes or anything like that, but whenever i touch my hair it feels kinda greasy. I don't think I put too much in, because its not leaving my face or hands shiny. It's hard to describe the coated feeling.
Maybe I'm just not used to having alot of product in my hair? Out of whatever products you ladies use for hold, do you ever get that feeling? I like how light and clean my hair feels after a Co-wash, but I want the longevity of doing twist outs, etc. I realize the Cantu is a cheap product though, so i guess in exchange for the price, it's working well. For the most part, my hair is soft & non-frizzy.
Last night, I re-twisted in big, chunky sections & then put them into bantu knots. It gave me a softer look, that was less "spiky" than yesterday.

Beautiful lady!
Cantu is one of those products that you have to play with. I used it for my curly fro, and have not had a feeling of build up. Did you leave a water based leave in underneath? If not, what did you use under it, if anything?

I'm late but I need to compliment u on ur twists and how you're handling your hair. You can tell your progress and I'm so happy for you! Your hair is absolutely marvelous and fits so well for your face. Beautiful!
I've also keep hearing so much about the cantu shea butter. I'm not ready to indulge and buy it (i'm skeptical about buying new things in general lol) but so glad it worked well for you!

umm..i didn't put anything underneath (oops!) lol. i thought that the Cantu was supposed to be my moisturizer, then i put unrefined shea butter on the ends. thanks for letting me know! i will try this next time & report back
Re: Kea::Curls
I love how your scarf was tied into the knot, it looked like a headband!

Aww thanks everyone for your kind words i have certainly learned a lot thanks to all of your help (and by visiting your pages!)
Re: Kea::Curls
You do not have to use a moisturizer but it may help. If you did not leave in anything underneath, it is likely the cantu causing the coated feeling. It has a lot of chemically based ingredients. Also, have you clarified recently?Kea::curls wrote:ChrsLvsBks wrote:Beautiful lady!

Hi ladies,
I keep meaning to post for today, but everytime I log-on...i see that someone has updated their page & then i get distracted!
I wanted my twist-out to last till Friday, but I washed my hair today (although I really could have waited one more day, i think). Since my scalp was itching a little I oiled it with some EVOO,but i used too much. I kind of had to wash my hair, so that I wouldn't be leaving "oil trails" everywhere. Problem now is that I have an event to attend @ 6pm and i'm afraid I'll still have damp hair when i venture out into the cold...
@ Chrs: it's funny you'd ask that question big sis...because I just finished washing the baking soda treatment out of my hair! As for now, that is the only clarifying I have done (and I think it was time).
I'm trying to figure out what do to for my hair this weekend. My bf and I are going out on "date night" with his parents to a MLK banquet. It's going to be formal, so I'd like to jazz up the TWA a bit... i'm not sure that i'll have time to set the twists for a twist out, but that's what i've been thinking about so far. We'll just have to see!!!

Re: Kea::Curls
thanks lynnie, i really like that look! I'm hoping for my results to be similar. I just finished setting my twists & they're the smallest/best looking i've done thus far. Instead of the Cantu, I used my Shea Butter mix and ORS lock & twist gel. I like the way they turned out & wish i could leave them in for a while...but i'm taking them down tomorrow night for the banquet. I'm looking forward to the 3 day weekend, here's to wishing all of you lovelies a great day
Re: Kea::Curls
Your twist look really good!!! They look so soft. If I remember correctly, I think I used the ORS Twist & Lock for the twist out in the pic.
Take pics please!!

Re: Kea::Curls
Thanks ladies, HAPPY MLK DAY!!!
I must say that I'm happy with my twist out. Since the twists were smaller this time, my hair was less stretched out (shorter looking). But I like that it caused my hair to lay closer to my head & I think that it came out more curly looking, whereas it was kind of wavy last time. It was also easier to cover up the parts! I'm thinking about washing my hair today & putting some more twists in today...i think i'm starting to get the hang of this twisting thing. lol.
Here's a pic of me and my love, from the big night:
Oh, i had a black headband in my head...so that's a feather (not my hair) sticking up on the left side
Also, i was happy to see other naturals at the banquet! There were locs, twists, puffs, and my favorite of the night: a beautiful woman with locs that had been curled & were pinned up into an elegant updo! I pulled her aside just to talk about how wonderful her hair was, and resisted asking for a pic. lol.
