Okay...this post is going to be a little lengthy, but I'll trying to get everything in.

Good News:
Had a great time visiting with my son, and I thought I would share our day with pictures:

Bad News:
We had a great day on campus. We checked into our hotel about 10:40am after we had been to breakfast and before heading back to campus for the day. Went to band practice with my son for 11am until 1:30pm. We watched a couple of tailgater's and their madness, watch the parade and enjoyed the pep rally. The highlight of the evening was the game....then about 11:50pm my mother and I headed back to the our hotel room. (Xander spent the night with Xavier) We get back to our hotel room and find our room door open. We go inside and y'all all of our stuff was GONE!!!

We had been robbed!!! Everything was gone our luggage was gone and everything that was in it!!! My mom had her purse in her luggage (why I don't know why she brought all of that stuff) credit cards, check books, house keys, car keys (hers and my son's car keys), my glasses, her glasses....everything!!!

We head to the lobby and the security guard and one of the front desk workers head back to our room to find the same thing we walked into. They closed the door and they are in shock!! The police arrived about 10 minutes later, and we have to go back to the room. Well at this point my card key can not open the door. The police officer gives it a try and guess what??? Their is someone on the inside who opens the door. Can I say freaked out!!!! The police arrests him and starts to search his person and guess what??? MY SON'S CAR KEYS IS IN THIS MAN'S POCKET!! OMGOODNESS....I'm freaking out right about now. My poor mom is in a state of shock!! So where is our stuff....well since there was a crack pipe in the room...which I guess he was using while watching porn...yeah porn y'all. I'm sure our stuff had been long gone!! The mystery here is HOW DID HE GET IN A LOCKED ROOM? There was no forced entry. Well...to make a very long story short (sorry for such a long post) The hotel puts us in another room...the manager never comes back to the property. We leave first thing that morning after I told them that I WAS NOT GOING TO PAY FOR THE NIGHT!! The assistant general manager calls and apologizes for what happen!!! However, he begins to tell me that the hotel is not liable for what happened. **clearing my throat** I told him that the hotel is not only liable, but they didn't provided a safe haven for me and my mom. I told him I could see if I left the door open or if the door had been kicked in, but that person got into a (supposed to be) locked room not once but twice. Once to steal our stuff and again after the security guard and the night worker when back to the room after we discovered what had happened. They closed and locked the door as well. This is now under investigation as I type, but my mom's credit and debit cards were used that day starting about 7pm until 1am!! All at Wal-Mart!!!

I've gotten calls from the hotel management team, and they now know that I expect them to replace everything!! I mean everything!!! If not, I am going to own a hotel y'all!!!

Sad News:
They stole my hair products!! They got my Oyin's Juices and Berries, my KBN butter, my AfroVeda oil; pooka elbow grease, and my Oyin Whipped Pudding!! Y'all I wanted to cry...I wasn't bother about my other stuff (yeah I was) but dang they stole my hair products!!! I wanted to cry...my mom was looking at me like I was crazy... She was like I've lost my whole life and you are losing it over some hair products!! She was like "Put on your big girl panties and get a grip!" I was so tired!! We didn't have any clothes...I was so pist by then I keep going back to the front desk asking them what they were going to do!! My mom finally convinced me to go to bed!!

Sorry for such a long post....but winning my AfroVeda products made me feel a little better yesterday!!

So....keep us in your prayers as we try to get my mom's personally business straight, and as I deal with the hotel with getting them to understand (without having to retain an attorney) that they are liable and that they are going to replace EVERYTHING as well as pay for the expense that it is going to cost my mom to re-key her car, house, and replace her meds, and other stuff that was in her bag!!

WHEW...if you made it through this you are so really a great cyber sister/friend.

Awww KNH I'm so happy you had a good stay with your son (they're both cuties lol), but whewie you are strong for not throat punching anyone!!! That is a mess!! WHat kinda ppl break into a room and then come back first of all??? Clearly he's not a good criminal in the least bit. And you better give it in to those hotel ppl talking bout they're not liable. Makes it seem like it was a staff that did it if he was able to let himself into the room twice like it was nothing.

I can't believe they took your hair stuff! What kind of crap, I don't understand what's going on with the world today. First congratulations on winning your Afroveda products (I was going to joke and say like you need more products but you actually do after what happened at the hotel). So sorry you and your family had to go through that. Definitely stay on top of them because that sounds like an inside job. WOW. I'm appalled!! No forced entry? And your KEY WOULDN'T WORK AFTER YOU LEFT? Sounds like he was ALLOWED in. I don't trust hotels for SHIT. (Excuse my language, but I HATE THIEVES!!!) I sincerely hope everything is resolved, and QUICKLY. I'm actually PISSED! The hotel was SO irresponsible in their response! "Not liable"? To quote my boyfriend, "Rubbish dahling, RUBBISH!!"

On the other hand, I AM glad you had a good time with your mother and your sons. They look like they could be your BABY BROTHERS. I had to do a double take!

I'm stunned sitting here thinking about a crack smoking porn watching, hair product stealing, almost grand theft auto type thug getting into your hotel room. That's just crazy. I don't see how the hotel can't be liable, especially when its not forced entry. Enjoy your afroveda products though! Hopefully that takes the some of the sting out of your loss.

First off, hair's on point!!!!!!

Ok, now the hotel situation:
It's not that the hotel isn't liable, but they cannot "admit" liability. Basically, a worker can think that the hotel was at fault or negligent, but to vocalize that to you could potentially cost them their job. I worked at a hotel for four years (all through college), and while I could never say "yup, we're wrong," I could follow hotel procedure, which was:

1) Call the police and get a police report. If the incident was documented, it would be easy for the next process...

2) File an incident report. Ultimately, the hotel would not directly reimburse you for your loss--rather, their insurance company would. Do you have a copy of the police report? The incident report?

Whenever anything happened (ie car break-in, someone fell in the shower, missing money, etc) I always did this. While I couldn't admit fault, I would always tell the customer that all of this info would go to our insurance company and if reimbursment was warranted, they would get it from them.

My suggestion would be to find out who their property manager is. If you can't get anywhere with dealing with the hotel directly, go up the chain of command and contact them. Then again, this is what my job did, and some businesses are a bit backwards, so......
