Re: Lucy's New Updo!!
Congrats on the BC!
My Mom is a beautician as well. Even though i never did a BC I was a long time transitioner in college and the stylist who did my hair my mom referred me to her. She had no problem in me giving up the cream crack. Now when I stopped flat ironing and straightening my hair this year my mom thought I was going through something...why does something have to be wrong if I no longer want to wear my hair straight. Last year when i told my mom I was going natural she suggested wwhy don't you put a perm in it your hair would be sooo long. Mom's gotta love them and sometimes gotta ignore what they say. Stay encouraged!

Re: Lucy's New Updo!!
Thanks everyone for your comments! I got Lucy shaped up yesterday so now she's looking more in order, lol.
@CurlieCutes1121-You are the second sister I know who uses the phrase "What the french toast?" but the other sis also uses "What the hamburger helper?" from time to time, lol! You should check more often on CN, you didn't think I would BC, did ya? LOL
@npmoore04-After the BC, Mama likes the cut even more! Yet, I noticed that she makes more compliments about my face like last night she was like "You got some cute dimples".....I always thought I had one, but I guess my relaxed hair was blocking the other one!
@Muz-I think Mama was serious. She wouldn't have made that statement if she wasn't serious.

Re: Lucy's New Updo!!
Thanks iri and Chrs for the comments. I'm just now getting BC reactions from people outside my family and it went something like this: "Are you going thru a phase right now"/"Did you cut your hair over a boy"/"That's haircut looks so cool"/"I like that on you"/"See, only that hairstyle work on petite women"/"You cut your hair off"/"Why you cut all that hair off"/"Do you have a texturizer in your hair"
Mind you, I don't have a boyfriend to cut my hair over, lol! Also random people at the mall gave me an invite to a poetry slam and a business card for a braiding salon....SMH.

Re: Lucy's New Updo!!
Hey everyone! Just thought I do a lil update with some pics! I just bought the Hello Hydration conditioner a couple of days ago to see what the fuss is about and Lucy is loving this stuff!! My curls were popping like nobody's business, but what I have a problem with now is that by the end of the day Lucy is dry and frizzy. I have a feeling it's the fact that I don't have any glycerin in my spritz and it's extremely humid where I live. All I put on my hair is my spritz of Giovanni SAS conditioner, water, olive oil, and a lil peppermint oil on my hair and after that, I put a conditioning gel that I mixed up on my hair. My hair is nice and curly, but by the end of the day the curls become undefined, frizzy, and dry. Anyone have any ideas or suggestions?
Here are some pics of my hair hours after I spritz my hair with a new batch (HH conditioner, oliver, and water) and my conditioning gel.

Re: Lucy's New Updo!!
You could be experiencing dryness due to your BC (most curlies do) or it could be the Giovanni Smooth As Silk. It has protein in it. Do you know if you are protein sensitive? Roxie (my hair) can handle protein but I cant use it as a leave in. It has to be rinsed out.
I see you changed your spritz. See if you notice a difference. Stop using the other one (SAS) for a few days.
Are you deep conditioning weekly? Well you know what I mean....I know you have only been natural a week.
I hope this helps.

Re: Lucy's New Updo!!
Love the new avi! I also think that your recent BC is contributing to the dryness. Co-signing on the deep conditioning or just using moisturizing conditioners.
Re: Lucy's New Updo!!
I did a deep conditioning on my hair on Sunday using the HH conditioner and I did see a difference because my curls were more defined and moisturized. I think the culprit could also be my hands....I try not to touch my hair throughout the day, but by the evening I'm playing with my hair and next thing you know, Lucy is jacked up. LOL

Re: Lucy's New Updo!!
Today I had such a good day. I saw my lil cousin graduate from Pre-K and on top of that, Lucy is coming into her own. Like I said before, I had experienced dryness, but now I think I found a solution. I was going to cowash my hair again last night, but never got a chance (sleepy) so this morning I just spritz my hair with my mix and added HEHH as a moisturizer. Then instead of using shea butter to seal, I used this argan oil (not pure, it got some cones in it ) that my mom got and some of my conditioning gel on top of that. It came out really nice and Lucy was divine, lol!
One thing that has been irking me since I did the BC is that a lot of people say that I look African . The last time I checked, I was African-American so what did I looked like when I was relaxed? White? Don't let my chocolate skin fool ya, lol!

Re: Lucy's New Updo!!
Hey everyone! I know I haven't updated in a while, but everything is cool...just been really busy lately. Lucy has been holding up pretty well and she is getting softer now and I can't keep my hands out of her! Yet, now I have a new problem. Next weekend, a few friends and I will be singing at a formal gathering and I have no idea what to do to Lucy! I mean I know there are headbands and flowers out there, but what can I do to really jazz Lucy up even though she is still a teeny teeny TWA? Remember, this is a formal affair...the last thing I need is to be wearing a formal dress, but have Lucy looking her casual self, lol.

Re: Lucy's New Updo!!
hi jome, congrats on ur BC...i applaud your courage to handle the situation with your mom.
My suggestion for the formal event is to rock a headband or flower and wurk the HELL outta your makeup...really play up your eyes..
and make sure you take pics!! HTH
