Natural in Wonderland
Good morning all!
I have decided to enter the Challenge! Here is a little bit about me:
My name is Savannah and I love being Natural! I have been Natural off an on pretty much my whole life. When I was a wee'un my Mom would press and braid my hair . I don't remember much about it except the smell of burning hair, the sizzle of the grease as the comb when through my naps, getting my ear burnt(!), and mainly just waiting til it was over. Luckily pressing didn't happen too too often, my Mom had little patience for my squirming body and mostly kept my abundant curls in braids. I loved having my hair in braids, especially the beads on the ends. I loved the rattle they made when i shook my head and chased my brother around the house.
When I got to be a bit older, like 5th grade-ish, I begged my Mom for a perm. Out came the Just For Me and scalp burns began. I would always wriggle and mess up everything. My hair never turned out just right. My Mom would always threaten to cut my hair off if I didn't hold still. One day during the summer between 10th and 11th grade I was done. I hated all the scalp burns and the itchiness and the no scratching. I was volunteering at a local rec center and my friend Henry was cutting his cousin's hair. "Do me next" I asked him. He cut me down to my first baldie. I loved it!
Since then I have rocked dyed baldies, two strand twists, a hot pink afro and many many looks in between. I have texlaxed my hair for volume and managment (more than 20 min to comb my hair? no thanks) and in 2008 I relaxed it for a change. That lasted most of the year then this past August I decided to BC aagin before I started beauty school (I'm training to be an esthetician).
Now I'm learning to care for my hair all over again. It's been great so far, I never thought of looking online for Natural hair information and now I'm so glad I did! There are so many great forums and ideas out there and I am blessed to be a part if this community.
Love!
Savannah

Re: Natural in Wonderland
Hi Guys! Thanks for stopping by! I will def upload some pics soon. The pink afro was one of my faves but omg the damage! The bleach dried my hair to a crisp that all the DC'ing in the world could not save! Lol! And when clumps of pink started to float in the pool with me, I had to chop it down to the roots. That grew out very nicely though.
I promise pics soon!

Products! Products! Products!
Good morning Curlies!
I just wanted to thank you for all the love that I have received just
in the past day since I signed up for the challenge. I promise to stop
acting like a bump on a log and get some pics up post haste! Well maybe
more like the weekend...my days are pretty busy and I share a 'puter at
work so .... blurg.
NEWayz, like many of you I am a product junkie. I blame some of it on being a make-up artist, I blame some of it on loving to try new things, and I blame most of it on not knowing what works for me just yet. Right now my product list is pretty short (and heavy on the OO):

- BioInfusion Olive Oil Shampoo (soon to be replaced with someting that has no SLS)
- BioInfusion Olive Oil Leave-In Conditioner (mixed with water for moisture spritz)
- LustraSilk Oilve Oil Deep Conditioner
- Palmer's Olive Oil Spray
- Organic Root Stimulator Lock and Twist Gel
- ACV
Products I want to try:
- Extra Virgin Coconut Oil
- Henna
- Shea Butter
- Oyin Handmade (thinking of getting the sample pack and the Burnt Sugar Pomade)
- Qhemet Biologics (Castor & Moringa Softening Serum and Honeybust Tea Soft Gel)
ttys!

I Oyin products. I ordered the sample pack and loved everything in it. My favorite was to use the Whipped Pudding and Shine and Define together on my two strand twist. As soon as Spring rolls around, I will be purchasing the full sizes.

Welcome! I enjoyed your story. Wow, I love it when others are willing to express themselves with color. I am so reserved it's ridiculous.
I look forward to the pictures and your posts.

Thanks ChrsLvsBks! Color has always been an outlet for me with my hair. It doesn't hurt that I used to work at a salon and got my hair done for free a lot. New color every few weeks. The best part about the dyes baldies is that I could always cut them out when the color faded or I wasn't feeling it any more. These days I'm rocking my natural color (off-black/dark brown) but I see red in my future. And a crazy true red like cherry. Here is my color inspiration:
I have always loved this chick! And once my hair is bit longer I am definitely going to rock the color with twist and curl!
Love!

Re: Natural in Wonderland
Good morning ladies! Happy Thursday! I almost one week into my latest two strand twist. Hopefully It will stretch another week. I think that I may need to re-do the back this weekend since it's the shortest part and always gets flattened when I sleep.
Have a good ladies! The week is almost through!

Happy Friday Beauties!
I am so glad that the work week is just about through. I will be at school all day tomorrow though so it's not really over for me just yet. I am currently studying to get my esthetician's license and that and working full time is kinda wiping me out. I'll be done with the program in mid-April so Ima tough it out.
Have a great weekend!

Hoping you are enjoying your weekend!
Mid-April is so close. Just think of how far you have already come. Too bad I am on the East coast. I need an esthetician.
