Re: TWA Growth Challenge
Good evening,
Here are my starting answers to the challenge questions. This is going to be so much fun!
1. Starting stats (Length and Hair Type): I have about1 1/2 inch of new growth since my BC. My hair type is 4a
2. Starting Picture: I have to get the pics off of my phone so that I can post them. I started a Fotki, but I haven't loaded them yet.
3. Products: I am currently using a shea butter conditioner, Olive Oil Leave In Conditioner and Olive Oil Tea Tree Moisturizer and IC Fantasia Sparkle Lites Gel
4. Regimen: Daily Co-Wash and wash n go
5. Hair Goals: I would like to continue with this regimen and grow my hair to APL using protective styling
6. BC date (pic if you have one): February 15, 2010

Re: TWA Growth Challenge
hello all this is my hair this weekend.
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
I was in whole foods this morning and i bought some aloe vera gelly. I wanted the gel but I did not know there was a diffrence. I am going to keep the gelly because I hear that it is good for skin irritations and my daughter could use it. How ever, I think i am going to go and get the giovanni direct leave in. I have been using HEHH and TT for over a month now, i want to change up. i will keep you posted on how it works for me.

Re: TWA Growth Challenge
I went to Whole Foods the other day and bought some Rainbow Henna. I haven't tried it yet because I read some mixed reviews on it after the fact and plus I'm not for sure if it's the best idea to Henna on TWAs because if it loosens the curl at this stage, it might look like my hair has been straightened. Any TWAs with Henna experience?
Re: TWA Growth Challenge
I have not used henna, but I did use some Bentonit Clay. Look that up and see if you may like that. I did not get the results I wanted, and I think it was because I did not leave it on long enough. I plan on doing it again soon.

Re: TWA Growth Challenge
Hey all, I have been MIA these few days, hope you guys are cool. Welcome to all the newbies, jump right in.
@rosebud, your hair's looking good girl! I tried some gel vs gelly (aloe and ginko by AO). The gellie makes my hair softer, without crunch, but no real hold, but I think its more moisturizing. I haven't found any pure aloe gels yet, still looking, don't want to order online again for now-shipping is really expensive.
So anyways.., yesterday was my 1 month anniversary, of my official BC and I just completed my last exam for this semester today, so am feelin' pretty good.
Now I have to figure out how am going to style my hair for my teaching practicum beginnig next Tuesday..that will be interesting [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

Hello Ladies!
Tashafawn - I understand the hairline! I didn't even realized I didn't have one until I saw my baby hair on my forehead! Talk about your baby steps!
Welcome Peggy & TracyDee!
Rosebud - I used the aloe vera gelly from whole foods as part of my shea aloe mix. Your hair is looking good!
Chica rosa - keep on keepin on with school
swoodward - I didn't believe you posted that picture? Siblings LOL:)[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
Measured my hair today - generally 2 inches, my hair is little longer in the back - 2.25 inches [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
My routine keeps changing. I have not been cowashing as much lately, just a couple of times a week. Also, I have been using the goddess curls gel from target and it has been great. I have been using it with the pretty natural oil conditioner & curls brulee from target & my shealoe and it makes my curls POP!
I want to color my hair too! My grays are popping up everywhere! I don't want to do permanent color yet either. I tried Surya (dark brown)when I was transitioning. It made my gray hair blondish, but I wanted it darker. I am thinking about getting it professionally done!

Re: TWA Growth Challenge
HEY MSTOKES! THANK YOU. AND THEY TOOK WAY TOO LONG FOR ME TO DO ON THE REGULAR. I DIDN'T REALLY TIME IT I JUST KNOW IT TOOK FOREVER. I WILL SAY THEY LAST A LONG TIME SO THEY ARE WORTH IT IF YOUR LEAVING THEM IN FOR A WHILE.
Re: TWA Growth Challenge
Wow, I agree with everyone that twist out looks really good girl!

Re: TWA Growth Challenge
MissMoriahiscurly, girrrrrrl this is sick! I love your curls! I wish I can twist my hair...well, I can but they'll be really tiny and it looks like it could be time consuming. What products did you use for this healthy shine? And how long did you leave the twists in before you did the twist-out? Can you tell I'm excited? Re: TWA Growth Challenge
Thank you tasha! LOL are you really excited? Well sorry to bust your bubble but the only thing i use on my hair is my shea butter mixture. I left the twists in for three days. Mine are really tiny too because they shrink. They are time consuming but I love the results so its worth it to me.
Re: TWA Growth Challenge
i have to figure out the process and plus i'm envisioning it will take me so long because i will have to so many because of the length. i'm going to have to practice before i go on vacation in july... i need a day that i don't have anything else to do.... lol

Re: TWA Growth Challenge
Miss moriah - awesome twists! I tried the twists this weekend and I didn't like the way they came out. I think I am going to have to go on you tube and watch someone do it or go over my sister's (swoodward - in the BAA challenge) to help me [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
