That's actually not a bad idea lol but no, I took a section of hair and put aloe vera gel, then added coconut oil after.
I got this method from tia's blog, she has pictures of her process.

lol yeah I am, when I flatironed my hair I felt the same way I did when I last flat ironed it...it was just dull to me, had to find a way to make it "me" again. So if I flatiron again I will only do it to clean my ends...no bone straight look for me!
Re: Curly Film Chick
I did my routine this weekend. I pre-poo with EVOO, clarified with baking soda and V05 conditioner, conditioned with AOHSR and followed with an AVC rinse. I noticed that the pre-poo really helped the AOHSR work very well as a conditioner.
I am happy to report I don't have heat damage. My hair curled right back up!
After washing, I added aloe vera gel to each section and braided it to air dry. Once 75% dried I unraveled each braid, and sprayed each section with a homemade spritz (aloe vera gel, evoo, v05, and water) and braided into four sections:
My hair was so soft and moist. I was preparing to do box braids, which I will post about later!

I used one from Nexxus. I was afraid of it at first, but it's very light and it smells nice.
Re: Curly Film Chick
I am so afraid of heat damage which is why I don't plan on using heat! lol but I'm glad your hair stayed curly and gorgeous : )

Ugh! late postings! Tuesdays are going to be the death of me
Anyway, I wanted to reveal my box braids that I did....
I actually braided them down to make them crinkly. They were just straight before and idk I wanted to add an umph to them
When I was done with half...thats pretty much how they looked...

thanks! yeah heat damage is no joke, I had it before which I had been slowly cutting out of my hair for months...my last two trims really eliminated them!
Re: Curly Film Chick
I like them crinkly....it does add umph....how long did it take and how long do you plan to keep them in?

I'd say it took me about 45 min each section, and I did four sections. I took breaks between each section lol. And I plan to keep these babies in for a month-6 weeks. I'm going to try and style them differently every so often so I'm not bored with them.
Re: Curly Film Chick
I just wanted to get clarification when you said you braid them down. I get my twists to be crinkly by starting with bigger twists on wet hair and then making those twists smaller by retwisting on dry hair. But what does it mean to "braid down?"

I simply grab a section of braids and braid them. When I did these, I took small sections and braided them, but tonight I will probably just braid them in chunky braids because I'm tired. I will post pics tomorrow of how it looks. Hope that helps
Re: Curly Film Chick
Wow, those look like A LOT of braids. My mom would have to braid my hair like that. I don't have the patience. They look cute on you.
BTW- I have to figure out what I did wrong with my roller set. My roots weren't as straight as I was expecting. I had to undo the bands after I sat under the dryer for an hour. They were too tight and was making my head hurt.

Re: Curly Film Chick
I wonder does it make a difference that I used perm rods instead of the magnetic rollers . I have both!
