thanks, the avocado butter is Burt's Bees Avocado Pre Shampoo treatment. I use it mixed in a DC and as a styler. I love it!

I officially love pin curls. I love the bounce and the look it gives without having to sleep in those painful rollers! As I said I've been experimenting with them all weekend, and last night I used Aloe vera gel and seal with EVOO. My hair feels so smooth

I was pinning my hair in different ways. I really love them and I could play in my hair all day (but that's a no-no lol)

Curly Film Chick - Page 6 Empty Sleeker Ends

Post by Curly Film Chick 27th January 2010, 12:54 pm

I decided to take advantage of my hair being somewhat straight and to trim my hair. It's been about 6 weeks and I want to keep my hair really healthy. My ends are so fragile and I'm getting used to taking care of them but I still have a lot to work on, like take more time to detangle and really seal my ends with EVOO (that seems to work best).

And so, I gave my self a trim. Idk if you can see the different but I can definitely feel and see the difference

Before

After:

Curly Film Chick - Page 6 -110

I knw my hair is all uneven and stuff lol, but I'm gonna let it grow out some more and then get it shaped up...

Both negative and positive:

"You got mad hair" (<---both negative and positive)
"You mixed? I can tell cuz of your baby hair"
"All that hair ain't yours!"
"You never wore weave? Really? I think you're lying"
"Let me touch your hair so I can feel the tracks"
"Your hair would look nice straight"
"You're hair is beautiful!"
"I like when young people wear their hair natural."
"Your hair ain't curly, it got naps in them."
"You should get a perm because your hair is thick"
"You got that good hair"
"Your hair won't ever be nice because it's not straight" (throwback from 5th grade)
"Why you wanna wear your hair all out like that?"
"Wearing your hair in an afro don't make you black"

I could go on....

I am sorry to hear the comments others have said to you. Your hair is healthy and thriving. It amazes me how people speak about others, crazy Curly Film Chick - Page 6 Icon_evil . I do not know what I would do if someone said something crazy out of their mouth to me. I just don't know.

The funniest thing to me is that in one day you could receive both positive and negative comments. Which proves that beauty is truly in the eye of the beholder.

thanks so much everyone! Yes, the comments range from nice, to daunting and then to downright annoying and stupid. I don't bother anymore, except the one about "needing a perm cuz I have a lot of hair" that one still bugs me from time to time and I got it recently *sigh*

Curly Film Chick - Page 6 Empty Hair Update

Post by Curly Film Chick 1st February 2010, 11:48 am

Morning!

Still enjoying my hair and keep the regimen pretty simple. My kinks are returning esp. at the roots, but no rush to use the flat iron (don't need the damage!) So I've stayed with the pin curls:

Curly Film Chick - Page 6 -111

Curly Film Chick - Page 6 -211

I use aloe vera gel (so moisturizing!!) and seal with EVOO and rub my scalp with Coconut Oil. I haven't had issues with moisture.

My hair that is reverting shows the amount of textures I have to deal with. The front and crown area of my head is more wavy and it def. sticks out:

Curly Film Chick - Page 6 -410

and my reversion at the roots:

Curly Film Chick - Page 6 -310

I embrace it!

OMG I LOVE your twists and your rollerset Curly Film Chick - Page 6 Herz . Now the trick is if I can get my thick roots to straighten out like that. Did you flat iron the roots at all or were they straight from banding them? Were those just ouchless bands? I have some cotton bands that leaves lint in my hair (the color of the band). I need to go buy more ouchless bands and leave those cotton bands for my daughters hair.

I've been wanting to try a rollerset and should have this past weekend while I was stuck in the house. Now I will just experiment with it tonight or tomorrow. What did you use to set it?

thanks Curly Film Chick - Page 6 Icon_biggrin I actually didn't need to straighten my roots because the bands really helped. I have a lot of hair, so if I can do it I'm sure you can! The types of bands I used werent "ouchless" but they dont pull out my hair. I set it with aloe vera gel and coconut oil, on freshly washed hair.

Did you mix the aloe and CO together then apply it to your hair? Did you use papers on your ends?
