@Ladybird
Ok I see. That makes sense. Is EVOO the only oil you use? Lol, I might be tempted to add some bread to that. I can't wait to use it!

Re: NEW CASTOR OIL CHALLENGE
hehehe ....me to with the CO...totally did not realize that it was over. How about a lighter oil for spring summer or a growth challenge?
See how much growth we can get fro spring/summer. I must admit the CO Challenge kept me in check.
what do you guys think?

I'm with it. It has helped me develope a more solid routine. Do you have any suggestions for the lighter oil? I have been thinking Jojoba but of course I would have to go buy some, lol.

Re: NEW CASTOR OIL CHALLENGE
Well i have been using Jojoba, but i don't really oil my scalp with it much. Not sure if there is any benefit to that. (Didn't do my research on that yet )
I know that is one of the lightest oils around.

Re: NEW CASTOR OIL CHALLENGE
That's weird...I posted something a while ago, but I don't see it.
Anywho, I'm in for a summer/spring Jojoba oil challenge. How about that super growth oil? Is that light enough? I know some people don't like the smell though. How about a weekly DC or DT challenge? That's supposed to be a vital part of your routine, yet we get busy and tend to skip it sometimes. Just throwing it out there.

Re: NEW CASTOR OIL CHALLENGE
Hey Butterfly...what is the super growth oil? Is that the growth oil everyone is raving about?
How about a Twist challenge? If we do not want to oils, that way we can come up with some interesting styles for twist
what do you guys think? since we all have different lengths.
Just another thought/idea.

Yeah, Ladybird, that's the one. I just can't think of the name of it right now.
A twist challenge sounds like fun.

Ok...so we will wait to get the others input and then decide which way we want to go.
Jojoba or twist ....I think we should vote

That's something I have to consider. I can only wear certain styles to work.

Soooooooooooooo, I got my twists. They are kind of flat since I just got moving this morning, but I like very much. i have also included a pic of the inspiration for the style.
And no I don't know this chica. I foudn it on the internet.

See I still look sleepy and i need to fluff them a bit. But hopefully you get the gist. I will take more pics after I get moving....Also, I didn't want the flat twists in the front.

Re: NEW CASTOR OIL CHALLENGE
o back to upcoming challenges. I do still oil my scalp with castor oil every other day and I will change to something lighter whenever the weather completly breaks here. So we are looking at Jojoba? I plan to wear these about two weeks. With classes, oh and on that I got a B plus on this last class, Our group powerpoint presentation got a C. I was very disappointed. i'm not liking this group mess!!! Anyway, with classes and my daughters AAU basketball travelling. I won't have time to properly take care of "MissThang", OOOOO I finally game up with a name!!! MissThang!!!! Cause she sho has her own mind!!! I am cracking my self up!!!! Morning ladies!!!

Re: NEW CASTOR OIL CHALLENGE
Good morning, MissyCee! LOL! Miss Thang, you are too funny. I'm diggin' the twists! How did you get them so uniform? Are you whippin' 'em back and forth yet? Congrats on your B. I feel you on group work. I have a group project to do in my comp class and no one in my group seems to care what happens.
Hair update!!
When washing my hair I had been noticing some extreme stretchiness and increased knotting. I figured it was time again to do my protein treatment. It went much smoother this time. I used the spray bottle method to apply it. I didn't comb thru it to "distribute evenly" as that stuff gets tacky way too fast and I didn't want to be snatching my hair out. It was still a funky experience though, lol. I make sure I don't eat before using that stuff b/c it really makes me nauseous. My hair is feeling much better though. After that I dc'ed with my usual mix. I think I actually have a recipe for it now too! I use 1 ORS Replenishing Pak, a tsp of coconut oil, half a tsp of honey, and a half tsp of evoo. I microwaved it for like 30 seconds. I pretty much let that stay on my hair all day. I had a lot of errands and everything around here closes at 6 PM on Sundays. I will be monitoring my hair closely over the next week though. I'm already wanting to stop bunning, but I am going to continue in an effort to keep in as much moisture in as possible. Anywho, I plan to cowash tonight and possibly dc again. I really need to get a trim but I don't wanna flat iron and I am too chicken to do it myself. I was thinking about going to one of the natural salons here but I can't stomach paying $75 or so for them to wash, blowout, and trim. I will likely stretch it in some way, flat iron it, and go to Wal-Mart and get a $15 one. I'll likely have about an inch or so taken off. I have my tissues ready.

Re: NEW CASTOR OIL CHALLENGE
@ Butterfly & @Tiff - Sorry I've been away for a few days!
My story is pretty short: I never relaxed, but I always pressed, flat-ironed, curled, crimped, etc my hair. I did not consider myself "natural" because my hair was so heat damaged/straight.
I transitioned gradually over the years while cutting my hair monthly until it all grew out. I was afraid of short hair.

Re: NEW CASTOR OIL CHALLENGE
Tiff, maybe you can just blow dry your hair and not flat iron?

Re: NEW CASTOR OIL CHALLENGE
Hey Carla! No need to be embarrassed. I am afraid of extremely short hair too. Especially since my weight is more than its ever been. I didn't even think of just blow drying it. That's a great idea!!

Re: NEW CASTOR OIL CHALLENGE
Hi, ladies!!
@MissyCee - I'm liking those twists you got there! Very nice on you! And thanks for sharing the inspiration style. Now I know exactly what I'm going to do to my hair for my Napa Valley/San Francisco trip.
@Tiff - Sounds like you got a pretty good mix/treatment going on there, girly! And that's right... keep doing what you're doing to take care of your hair even if your are tired of bunning, you know your hair will thank you for it.
@Carla - Like Tiff said, no need to be embarrassed...I've heard a lot of women on here talk about how they transitioned forever and a day because they were "afraid" to have short hair.
I've always cut my hair in really short styles, so I would've had to transition for like 5 years to have any length, so I transitioned just long enough so that I could have some hair on my head. This was my hair when I decided to "go natural."

SO SORRY THE PICS CAME OUT SO LARGE. Not sure what happened. I do like the style, takes a while to get used to, but I'm doing it. Not whipping over here. Might catch a cramp.....

Hahaha@MissyCee and her cramp...
Tiff, I forgot to mention, my CG book tells how to cut your hair in its natural curly state. Do you feel like you have to cut it while it's straight?

Idk, I'm just scared it'll end up uneven. What does your book suggest?
