Re: Adiaha's Natural Hair Journey
Thanks Lynn. I dont know if it'll hold up that long, i'll take it one day at a time. I dont plan to retwist but I may have to. Tuesday is really the first day where I have time to commit to a regimen. Maybe Monday evening after school at the earliest.

I love Twist Outs too. Especially for the dreaded reason. Lol. Yours is looking good. I plan on washing mine Sunday and doing the twists out mid week.

Re: Adiaha's Natural Hair Journey
Yeah it definitely solves the confusion with dreads but I also like the volume.
My only problem with the twistout is I can't keep my hands out my hair which will definitely cause frizz, which doesn't help with preserving a style.
I hope you ladies have a wonderful day, I'm headed to work (fun, fun)

Hi Adiaha! (Love the name, so pretty!)
Your twist out looks great! I have the same 'hand in hair' problem when I do twist outs so I usually let them fade into a textured fro/ wash-n-go.
and ps<--- i have also gotten the loc thing (when my hair was longer). Of course I would wear my twist until they were about to loc if I didn't take them out, lol

Re: Adiaha's Natural Hair Journey
Awww thanks, I tried to find something similar for you but couldn't. Thats adorable.
Thanks on the hair and name compliment. Wearing them until they're almost dreads, I cant even imagine. I like the twist out to much to have that problem. I hate the twisting part of it though.FemmeFox wrote:Hi Adiaha! (Love the name, so pretty!)

I do 1 1/2 cups of aloe vera gel (the edible kind), 1 cup of warm water (I use tap water but I boil it to "kill" any microbes. Then I do 10 drops of Peppermint, Sage, Rosemary and Eucalyptus essential oils. The last time I poured in some castor oil to the mix too (didnt measure the amount). I love my mix and I think my hair does too.Lynnieluv wrote:Could you share your aloe grow mix ingredients and measurements?

Thanks. That HIH disease is a problem but I cant stop.
Today at work I received some compliments but I received one insult that phased me momentarily then I moved on. One of the doctors looked up at me and said "you're letting your hair grow." I said "yeah." He replied "So you're gonna let it look normal again." (I dont remember his exact wording but that was the sentiment expressed.) I just looked at him and said "Thanks" with a sarcastic smile. Some people I tell you.

My package from iherb.com came yesterday. Are you still using along with the castor oil challenge?
I dont have sage or eucalyptus. I am gonna use tea tree instead.

Re: Adiaha's Natural Hair Journey
Yeah I do 10 drops of each EO, but any will do. Each EO supposedly has different benefits. I love the smell of the peppermint and the minty cool feeling it gives my scalp LOL
I use the aloe gro spray on my twists nightly and use the castor oil on my scalp MWF and as needed. But now that I have the twist out Im avoiding the aloe grow like the plague, Im trying to make this style last.

Re: Adiaha's Natural Hair Journey
I work in a hospital as well and I get a lot of questions concerning my hair. Most are just curious about texture, others just don't know or understand.
How is your twist out holding up?

Thanks for the info. One more question, so are you spraying the mix on your hair and scalp?

I thought I had commented about your hangage ;-)--looking good. Your hair has grown quite a bit.
Twist out is lovely.

Re: Adiaha's Natural Hair Journey
Lynn, I typically spray both the hair and the scalp and follow up the pray with my oil. It helps to calm the itchies.
Thanks Chrs, Im loving the growth. The twist out is holding up well too.

Re: Adiaha's Natural Hair Journey
No Problem Lynnie.
Nothing new with my hair. My twist out still holding up pretty well. Bonnet at night and little shaping in the morning and Im good to go.
How about them Saints?!? I worked yesterday so I snuck peeks of the game in patients rooms for the first half and then we went to Bourbon St for the second half, talk about crazy. I had a little too much fun.
Now Im at school, supposed to be studying but look where I've landed.

Re: Adiaha's Natural Hair Journey
How long do you plan to keep your twists in? When I wear twists, I actually tie a scarf on mine to keep them in place while I sleep and then put a bonnet on top. I must be a rough sleeper. LOL
Re: Adiaha's Natural Hair Journey
I kept them in for about two weeks then I did a twist out. Its currently in a twistout and I'll probably wash Wednesday and retwist. I was going to wash tomorrow but I have a test Wednesday that I shouldve been studying for instead of partying LOL sooo wash day has to be pushed back

I did the same thing with my twists. I tied the scarf loosley so I don't flatten the twists and then I put the bonnet on top. Otherwise, they are sticking up all over the place when I get up in the morning! lol

Re: Adiaha's Natural Hair Journey
Not much new on the hair front. Supposed to wash and twist my hair tomorrow evening but dont know if that'll happen. Im feeling sick and that doesnt go well with a wet head.
My son is sick with a 102 fever, and Im feeling a little achy and stuffy myself. Fun stuff. Im supposed to be studying all I want to be doing is sleeping, can we say procrastinator.
Have a lovely day ladies!!!
