@Stephanie, my first set of twist were a mess, I didnt want to wear them in public. I have a pic posted somewhere. They were too fat I think.

I like these twists but not everyone is asking me how long have I been dreading. Nothings wrong with dreads but when I do my twists out Im frequently asked why I took my dreads out. Usually when I tell them Im not reading that response is followed up with why I went natural if Im not dreading...natural hair is versatile it doesnt have to be dreads or straightened there are many things in between.

you know people were asking me the same thing a month after my big chop when i did some coils. that was the one and only time i did them. lol.

I never did BC, but I agree--a LOT of people asked me if I was going to lock my hair since I had no intentions on getting a relaxer... locks are beautiful, but...

I couldn't take the permanence!

People always ask me if I am going to loc too. I want to at some point in my journey but not right now. I am enjoying my hair being loose.

I dont think I want to. My mom and plenty of family/friends are loc'd and they're loving it. I just cant take the permanence either. Whats funny is the lady who did my BC said that I'll loc eventually, I doubt it but we'll see.

I am sooooo glad I am not alone. That is the question people ask me the most and it really annoys me. Mad I have to keep explaining that these are not dreads, but just my natural hair twisted. Especially since my ex Sad (who was still my bf when I first went natural had locs) people thought I did it to look like him. He did encourage me in going natural but have no intentions of locing and me going natural was ultimately my own decision. Even when I wore the twist out, I still got asked if I was growing locs. Locs are great but they aren't for me. People are so unused to seeing natural hair that they can't even differentiate between hairstyles. And can't fathom someone just wearing their hair. Sheesh! I can't wait until my hair is longer so I can experiment with different styles and my tiny twists aren't confused for something they are not.

Phew, I had to get that off my chest. Lol. cheers

JnB, I feel you 100%. Just this morning at work I was asked AGAIN if I was dreading. Aaaah!!!

Anyway I pinned back the front of my twists. I like it. With my hair being so short there isn't much I can do but this small change works for me.

Hey ladies. Tonight I co-washed my twists. I was amazed at much my twists hang when when. I didnt realize I had that much length. Once they were dried they shriveled back up LOL

Adiaha's Natural Hair Journey - Page 9 100_1112

I started the castor oil challenge. I didnt like the consistency of the castor oil so I got an applicator bottle and did 2:1 castor oil to olive oil and some EO and boy Im loving it so far. I'll apply that to my scalp 2-3 times/week. Hoping for great results!!!

Your twist are looking good after the co wash. I mixed my castor oil with olive oil and jojoba oil.

Thanks, I was shocked I thought they'd puff up and be a "hot mess" when cowashed but they're looking fine and my scalp feels sooooo much better.

This gives me hope. I was scared about washing my twists, but I think I'm gonna try it this go round. Did you cowash and condition, or just cowash?

I just co-washed. It was late when I started and I needed to be up early. I don't think conditioning would've hurt though.

Don't you just love that hang time. Pretty soon it will do that even when dry! what EO did you use for your castor oil mix? Mine has some of everything because I used one of those BSS oils with my castor oil.

"HEY DEE, I DIDNT KNOW YOU WERE LOCKING"

If I hear that one more time i just might SCREAM!!!! In the past week Ive heard that more times than I can count. I think I will be doing a twistout tomorrow in hopes of people "getting it."

Then again a twistout doesnt last me very long before I need to retwist and with my marathon twist sessions I dont know when I'll have time to do it. Hmmm, we'll see. I'm off to catch up.

Hey Adiaha~

Don't know how I missed this picture, but your twists came out nice...and holding well after your co-wash. So what's your twisting technique..i.e. products and method?

My method is pretty simple. After I co-wash and deep condition, I just start parting off does and then I grab sections of hair and twist. No perfect parts. For the twist I use my qhemet heavy cream and it softens, moisturizes and provides a good hold
