Re: .:Eden:. Curly Q Twist Out
ok first I don't think it's sloppy at all! I love it!! I to am trying to find the cure to hide the sections. I haven't been sucessful yet! Keep up the good work. I love the picture u found at moms!
Re: .:Eden:. Curly Q Twist Out
You can lift from the roots to help separate the twists. For moisture for your WnGs, you can add aloe vera gel, conditioner and water. You can test it with a small section while off. I am hoping to perfect my WnGs this week since I am off.
Re: .:Eden:. Curly Q Twist Out

What kind of aloe vera gel do you use, I might as well give it a try?
Re: .:Eden:. Curly Q Twist Out
Like Chrs said, I use my afro pic to lift slightly at the roots to help remove the parts.

I have one of those and I used it...oh well, they usually disappear by the 2nd or 3rd day.
Re: .:Eden:. Curly Q Twist Out

Lol, that was the first thing I noticed!Lynnieluve wrote:I was so busy looking at you hair that I didnt see the cute headband.
anyways, it looks fine to me, as far as camera shots go. The only advice I could give you would be to wait a day, because my parts usually disappear after a night's sleep.

Will do. Now I was watching a few Youtube videos and one woman said the aloe vera gel shouldn't be gel-like, but more of a brown liquid. She said the ones they sell commercially aren't the real deal, so you should go for the organic king. Is this true? The one I originally bought was clear and gelly like. Should I look for the liquid kind?
Re: .:Eden:. Curly Q Twist Out
I purchase the organic kind. It is more liquid than gel but not brown. In fact it is the from the same company in your picture.

Good to know, thanks!
Re: .:Eden:. Curly Q Twist Out
I'm loving my hair today, more so for the feel than the style. It's very soft and fluffy, which I like. I'm not too into the hold type feel. I tried a different approach when applying my shea butter. Instead of emulsifying it in my hands, I sat it on my heater and let it liquify a bit, than applied the liquid and sealed. It didn't leave my hair ashy like before and it seems to have absorbed a lot better.
Re: .:Eden:. Curly Q Twist Out
your hair is very beautiful. I'm thinking that once i finish transitioning i will have the same texture. How is the length growing? it looks like you would have enough to do a puff.
I think how you heated the shea butter is a great ideal to use it on your hair so it absorbs better. are you going to add any oils to your shea butter??? i bet some sweet almond oil would make it smell really good! I know it makes my mixes smell yummy. LOL

Thank you so much! You know surprisingly I haven't been focusing on length. At first I was, but then my hair was very dry after my bc, so I focused on getting moisture back into it. From what I remember, I was about 1-1 3/4" in Oct and now I'm around 2 3/4-3". That's about 1-1 1/4" growth in two months. Nothing major, I have yet to really focus in on using growth aids to speed up the process. I'm just trying to keep my head moisturized in this cold weather.
My hair isn't long enough to do a puff just yet, I tried and failed, maybe in 4 months. I want to add oils to my shea butter, I've just been too lazy to go out and buy oils. I really want to though. I will though, the near future.
Re: .:Eden:. Curly Q Twist Out
While visiting family for the holidays many saw my newly natural head for the first time, including my mother. Her first reaction was "You cut off your hair! Your long long hair!/I knew you were going natural but why didn't you wait until it was long?!" My family members were more so just surprised that I cut it, but felt it suited me, which was nice. I wanted to do a twist out, but I didn't have enough time the night before, so I just washed it and put a headband on. Nothing big...
Re: .:Eden:. Curly Q Twist Out
I am happy the reactions weren't harsh...I know it doesn't matter what others think. But when your fam is accepting of you and your appearance it makes life easy!!

Yea, it was nice. Seeing we've been a "long hair family" forever.
Re: .:Eden:. Curly Q Twist Out
Hi Eden! Your story after the BC sounds very similar to mine. My hair was so dry, that no style looked good and I wasn't sure I made the right decision (not to mention I've never had short hair before). Once I got the moisture going, my hair started looking better and my attitude towards it started to change too.
BTW, your twist outs look really good.

Thanks! It's getting better and better. I'm just glad I don't have to deal with the dryness anymore.
