14 months already..I stopped counting! Lol! Congrats! You are doing a fantastic job with your hair!
Re: :: Lynnieluve :: Mini twist pics...
Sooo it's not just me then with the length awkwardness and the impatience. Phew. I thought I was alone. And this is exactly what I've been missing by not being here, support through shared experiences. I'm sorry you're going through it too, but at least we're all going through it together.

Your hair is growing nicely. Destiny is in that awkward stage too.
Congrats on 14 months natural .
Mini twists (sigh) One day I will attempt this style....
BTW, I saw your post at Chrs's residence, you said you needed a stronger protein tx. What have you been seeing as your hair grows out? Is it very soft and fragile?
I have been adding egg to my pre poo mix of brahmi, maka, AOHSR, vatikaki oil. I am going to look into AO protein conish, though.
Hey IB!!! I'm good!! And thanks!!
I am still trying to figure out what a normal amount of shedding is for me. I would like to see less . First I was using Giovanni SAS as deep conditioner/protein treatment but I soon figured out the amount of protein in there wasnt enough. So I decided to use it every time I washed to see if I noticed a difference in shedding and I didnt. Now, I am looking for something stronger. I tried AO GPB conditioner twice, two different ways (pre poo and deep conditioning with heat). It's still too early to say if I noticed a difference yet. I am looking for a store bought protein treatment that I can see instant results with like I did when I was relaxed. I am being cautious though because Roxie acts funny with proteins.
As my hair grows out, I am starting to get impatient with Roxie. I have to constantly tell/remind myself to be gentle....especially when detangling in the back where all the "O" shaped curls are. My hair is so THICK too. I've tried the Rosa Parks roll (I wonder what ever happened to FreeStyles ) and Roxie just chews those bobby pins up and spits them out Roxie says, "CANT NOBODY HOLD ME DOWN, OH NO!!" I have been looking desperately for some quick and easy protective styles....sigh
at the bolded comment
Maybe you are just in a shedding phase, extended shedding phase. But I have read that black tea rinse helps with shedding. Talk to Chrs about it.

Hey Lynnie,
Don't you just love getting new stuff in the mail . Can't wait to see your hair flatironed because it has really grown. I bought a hair dryer from Sally's this week so I will probably do a blow out on my hair next weekend. Also Sally's has the Silk Elements on sale for $4.99 if you're planning to use that heat protectant.

I need a new blow dryer as well - which brand and type did you purchase? I purchased a Maxiglide and Sedu a couple years ago that I have yet to use on my hair.

I don't know if Lynn should flat iron, that would definitely cause some dangerous levels of fabulousness up in here!

The flat iron I got was $20. I dont plan on using it often. Plus, I just cant spend over $100 on a flat iron. I didnt even own one when I was a permie.

I got the one Westndnbeautyy suggested on her blog. She did a comparison of her $250 flat iron to the $20 flat iron. She said if the expensive one breaks, she wouldnt purchase it again.

Weekly Update:
After keeping my mini twist in for 11 days (new record) and wearing a twist out 2 days (total of 13 days), I washed Roxie on Sunday. My twist out still looked great but my scalp was nasty .
Here is a pic of my twist on day 9...
I didnt get a close up pic of my twist out but here is a pic a I took Saturday after my 5k. I got to meet this season's Biggest Loser contestant, Patrick House, from MS. (If you are friends with me on FB, you can see a closer pic - check my mobile uploads album)
Sunday was WASH day...
Shampoo - Taliah Waajid Shampoo
Detangle/Conditioned - Giovanni SAS
Deep conditioned with heat for 30 mins with homemade moisturizing conditioner
Applied modified Kimmaytube leave in conditioner and sealed with Shikakai oil
I put my hair in braids to air dry overnight.
Monday, I put small/medium two strand twist in the front and finished the back today using Shea Moisture Deep Treatment Masque and Ecocustard.
Here are pics...
My First 5k
My first 5k was this past Saturday and it was great!!! I didnt run the entire time but I was proud of myself. I ended up running about 85% of the time.
I overdressed for the run. That morning it was in the upper 40s so I wore a jacket but by 9:30am (when the walk started) it had warmed up to the 60s. So during the run I took my jacket off and tied it around my waist. I ended up having to keep adjusting it so it wouldn't fall off. Then I had my cell phone in one hand (I could no longer keep it in my jacket pocket) and a bottle water in the other hand. I just had too much going on. Imagine this, running, adjusting my jacket, making sure I dont drop my iphone, wondering if my keys are gonna come out of my bra, holding on to a bottle water.
With all that said, I still dont know if I would have run the entire time but I sure think I would have had a better chance of it. I plan to do another as soon as possible.
The Adventures of Potty Training
Everything is going so well. He is telling me he has to potty more and more each day. My plan is to go to underwear only at the first of the year!!
School Days
School for my lil man is going GREAT!!! He is not a social butterfly yet but he is showing interest in other children his age which is AWESOME!!!
That's all for now!!! Later curlies!!!

5k wow...you're doing it...I'm saving for a tricycle (yes for myself)...we may get little bit one for Christmas, but that will be my exercise. I'm hoping it will be better on my hips.
