WOW!! You use that moisturizer? I'm concerned about sitting under the dryer with the mayo and honey. Won't it cook? I LOVED the hair and scalp quencher when I was relaxed. I still have some. I'm going to have to try this recipe.
Re: :: Lynnieluve :: Mini twist pics...
I didnt use those exact products. I used what I have - I mixed Garnier Frutis Triple Nutrition, honey and avocado oil together. I apply coconut oil to my hair. I was suppose to apply castor oil to my scalp but I forgot. And no, the honey did not cook. LOL!!! The dryer is not that hot. I havent tried it with mayo yet.

I didnt put any mayo in my mixture. That would make it a protein treatment.

Re: :: Lynnieluve :: Mini twist pics...
Today, Roxie is 14 months old!!! Of course I am still in my mini twist. I decided to see if I could make them last 2 weeks.
Since there wont be anything to update you guys on for the week, I decided to tell you about my recent purchases. I took advantage of the Hairveda sale a few weeks ago and I got my products this week. I ordered the Vatika Frosting and the Cocasta Shikakai oil. Lord knows I didnt need this but I just couldnt pass up on that good sale.
So after I did the rollerset last week, I got curious about what my hair would look like straight so I have been doing tons of research on flat irons, heat protectants, flat iron/straightening tutorials, moisturizing deep treatments, etc. After reading a post on wwestndnbeautyy's blog, I went on Amazon.com today and purchased a flat iron (my first ever), a new blow dryer (I really need one) and some Jamaican Black castor oil (like I dont have enough oil already ).
My plan is to NOT purchase ANYTHING else until the Black Friday Sale.
Roxie is headed into the next awkward stage (sigh). The hair in the crown of my head is starting to fall but the rest of my hair is still defying gravity. I know this too shall pass
I guess that's all I have to talk about for now. Later curlies.

Hey Lynn, How are you?
Your hair is growing nicely. Destiny is in that awkward stage too.
Congrats on 14 months natural .
Mini twists (sigh) One day I will attempt this style....
BTW, I saw your post at Chrs's residence, you said you needed a stronger protein tx. What have you been seeing as your hair grows out? Is it very soft and fragile?
I have been adding egg to my pre poo mix of brahmi, maka, AOHSR, vatikaki oil. I am going to look into AO protein conish, though.

Hey IB!!! I'm good!! And thanks!!
I am still trying to figure out what a normal amount of shedding is for me. I would like to see less . First I was using Giovanni SAS as deep conditioner/protein treatment but I soon figured out the amount of protein in there wasnt enough. So I decided to use it every time I washed to see if I noticed a difference in shedding and I didnt. Now, I am looking for something stronger. I tried AO GPB conditioner twice, two different ways (pre poo and deep conditioning with heat). It's still too early to say if I noticed a difference yet. I am looking for a store bought protein treatment that I can see instant results with like I did when I was relaxed. I am being cautious though because Roxie acts funny with proteins.
As my hair grows out, I am starting to get impatient with Roxie. I have to constantly tell/remind myself to be gentle....especially when detangling in the back where all the "O" shaped curls are. My hair is so THICK too. I've tried the Rosa Parks roll (I wonder what ever happened to FreeStyles ) and Roxie just chews those bobby pins up and spits them out Roxie says, "CANT NOBODY HOLD ME DOWN, OH NO!!" I have been looking desperately for some quick and easy protective styles....sigh

Lynnie,
I am amazed and inspired by your hair, as always. Your twistout on the last page looked so shiny and moisturized, and the mini twists are full and wonderful looking as usual.
You have done such an amazing job with your hair, I know you will be handling your 'awkward' phase with grace as you always do.

Hey Lynnie,
I am a heavy shedder but sometimes I wonder if I shed too much, still trying to figure that out . I use the Nexxus Emergencee once every three or four months. I think its one of the harder protein treatments similar to Aphogee. The bottle says leave it on 2-3 minutes but I actually use it the same as the aphogee, I put it on my hair and sit under the dryer until my hair is hard and then rinse and deep condition.
In your research of heat protectants have you found one which is really good yet? I've been planning to blow out my hair probably sometime next month but I also need to purchase a blow dryer and I am trying to figure out which heat protectant to use.

Thanks for the tip about Nexxus!!
Since I have been researching, the most popular protectors are Silk Elements Megasilk heat protectant spray, IC Fantasia Heat Protector Serum, and FHI Heat Hot Sauce.
Rustic Beauty actually has a video showing her hair revert back after using Silk Elements.
Tia uses IC Fantasia with no problems.

Isn't funny how we research like crazy now, but before we would just let someone do this stuff for us with no thought...and no fear! hahahaha
Those ackward stanges are quite frustrating. But take it from me your shape looks really good.

You are so right!! Yes the awkward stages are frustrating at times. And thanks! Pinning my hair in the front is working out so far.
