Day Three Twists - Side Swept
Day Three (posted yesterday, I thought...hmmm, not sure what happened)
The evening before I sprayed hair with JC's leave in and a moisturizer (can't recall which one) and sealed with castor and EVO oils. I do remember the oils left residue on my work phone. I will cut back on oil or not use both since they are both thick.
I twisted hair in sections to one side and pinned.
Here is a picture. You can check my fotki for more.

Day Four - Half Up Half Down
Last night, I sprayed my hair with the gotu kola tea and applied Jane Carter's hair cream to most of the length of my hair. My ends were still moist from EVO and castor oils applied that morning. I pulled hair back in two sections to the middle of my head. Each section was pinned back with large bobby pins.
This morning I sprayed my scalp and hair liberally with JC's leave in. I applied KbN's butter and sealed with castor and EVOO, I know I know I used less this time.

Creativity
I am hair obsessed at this point and spend a lot of time looking at fotki's, YT videos and visiting natural hair blogs and sites. Many of the styles I create are inspired from those sites. I am glad to be inspiring some of you. Try new things and retry styles you may not have been pleased with in the past.
The key to success is practice and confidence. I still want to try rollersets, teeny weeny twists, fishtail and the southern tease bun. I have tried the bun and fishtail before but I will keep trying. I have to follow my own advice, right .
===========================================================================
Tip for the day - Learn your hair's texture. It is important in determining the right products. Tomorrow I will explain how to determine your hair's texture. It may not be what you think. Stay tuned.

ChrsLvsBks wrote:Today, I spritzed my hair and scalp with a tea made from gotu kola. Gotu Kola is said to aid in circulation. Virgin coconut oil was massaged into my scalp. A dime size of KnB's butter was rubbed into my hands and applied from root to tip. I sealed the ends with a quarter size puddle of castor oil and couple of drops of jojoba oil.
One reason I chose to do twists and try to keep them in for three weeks was to help me manipulate my hair less. I tried to do a fishtail I saw on a fellow fotki member's album. I failed but like what I did achieve.

My, my, my, what beautiful hair you have. I am so luuuuuving your hair. I so want to try this style. 5 hours for all your hair is not bad at all. I cannot stop looking at your hair. I also like the twist pulled to the side. Your are very creative. I will be visiting your thread often because I need to try some of the oil treatments that you use.

Day Five - Bunny Tail
Once I did this, I immediately thought of a bunny's tail. Let me know if you agree.
To achieve the bunny tail, I twisted the section slightly above my left ear to the back. I then twisted the remaining section on the right. Once both sections met in the back, I pinned the hanging part down with two large bobby pins.
I kept trying to tuck the "extra tail" but it kept falling so I let it do what it do .

The bunny tail is still cute!
Did I miss the "how to determine your hair texture" tutorial?
And since you inspire me and I always love what you do to your hair, can you share what inspires you? Sites, blogs, fotki's etc.?
I tried looking up that kinkycurlyqueen fotki but couldn't find it.

@jamaicacurl, no, you did not miss anything about finding out about your hair's texture. I will post it tonight. I went bowling to celebrate a birthday, scored 107 on my second game--that's good for me. I will share where I get my inspiration before the weekend ends.
@cocoeuro thanks for posting the link to KKQ

Hair's Texture
Tip for the Day - Find out your hair's texture.
Many believe your hair type is not important as your hair's texture. I agree. Hair typing is subjective while other characteristics of your hair are objective. I spent so much time earlier on my healthy natural curly hair journey trying to figure out my hair type. I could not figure it out because once I thought I nailed down "my hair type" I saw other people's hair who was categorized as that type but did not look like my hair. So after a couple months of frustration I found a wonderful e-book and after reading it I did more research.
What did I read? It was Live Curly Live Free. I learned a lot about hair and how to care for it. Knowing your hair's texture among other things is key to finding the right products. Hair textures range from fine to medium/normal to coarse. Fine hair is barely felt when you feel one strand of hair between your fingers. If you hair is coarse, your hair will feel rough as you move it from the root to the end. If your hair is neither fine or coarse, your hair is medium textured. Yes, you will likely have a combination on your head. (Please re-read information on determining coarse and medium texture. I incorrectly identified how to tell. It has nothing to do with moving fingers up from tip to root but from root to tip.)
Coarse hair is damaged. It needs extra care to not damage it further. There is no way to repair it but you can protect it by using protein products. The key is still balance between moisture and protein.
My hair is medium although I have a few fine strands and coarse ones.
What is your hair's texture?
I will research some more and tell you what products you should use based on your hair's texture.
Please stay tuned.

I try to limit myself when hubby is home. Other than that I am on the 'net trying to find out something new.

At least, IMO, we are loving on us. Too many women spend time loving others they forget themselves. I try to limit my time when hubby is home. I must admit it is hard.Blackbeauty wrote:I love that ur obsessed with ur hair because...... shhhhh dont tell any body......Im obsessed with mine

Thanks for the info! Again, I'm loving your hairstyle today
I'm pretty sure most of my hair is medium texture. I have been to that LCLF site but haven't read the e-book yet. Is it free?
