You can definitely mix amla and brahmi. They have the same advantages. I did not like amla alone. I think my curl pattern was loosened. I use the whole. The boxes contain 100g. If you mix, take half of each box. I don't put it on thick like I do with henna.Freestyles wrote:Now that I know Kalpi Tone is a mixture I'm going to keep my eyes out for it! Is it okay to mix the Amla and Brahmi? How much of it do you use for each application? The entire box?
Let me know how you like it once you use it. Thanks!traveljunkie08 wrote:Okay, so I'm definitely getting the DB deep conditioner (when I've used up all of my AO). You and your hair look awesome in your mini photo shoot!

When it comes to wearing my hair out, it looks the same regardless of what I try to do to change it . I used Carol's Daughter's hair milk as a leave in then Afroveda's hibiscus oil and DB's transitioning cream. I scrunched in KbN's peppermint hair gel for hold. I twisted my hair and applied more gel to the edges.
I put on a headband to help lay the edges. I wrapped my hair in a flour sack and satin cap.
This morning, I undid the twists and tucked the front twists behind my ears. I was hoping most of my hair fell to the back since I twisted them kinda back and smoothed the edges. Here are my results first two are this morning last one is this evening.
My hair feels super soft. I did not need to SOTC although I used gel .

I also use flour sack towels for ploping. They are thin towels I guess made of the same materials as flour sacks. I got mine @ Target in the section with kitchen towels. They are sold as a pack of 6. I got it on clearance for less than $3.

Hey Crys,

Thanks Jamaica!! I kept wondering that. I might have to check that out. Okay next question...What is plopping? lol
OOOOOHHHHH Chrs. I want to know about flaxseed too. I bought some flaxseed oil the other day and have yet to use it because I dont know if I should ingest it or put it directly on my hair/scalp. Any idea sis?

I thught the same exact thing...but I found this is a good way to track my triumps and disappointments AND to get help when I mess up!
AND as for the time, don't do it for the contest..use it for a hair journal!

I've been trying to perfect a faux hawk myself! I like it with the hp in front vs. The loose curls. I will have to check out that thread for the tutorial.

@sweetdrk1 and AfrikanLatina, flax seed gel is made from flax seeds. The seeds give off mucillage(sp?) when boiled. The seeds are a good source of Omega-3. Other than being natural I personally don't know if there are other advantages. As far as the oil AfrikanLatina, I guess you could add it to conditioners, use it as a hot oil treatment and/or pre-poo with it.
@AL, plopping is when you use a flour sack, tee shirt or microfiber towel to remove excess water. I fold it into a triangle. Gather my curls while my head is down and place them in the center of the sack. The point of the triangle will be at my nape while the ends are brought around to their opposite sides. I tie the sides where they meet, usually the front of my head.
As jcurls wrote flour sacks can be found in the kitchen areas of stores. They get their name because it is the same material flour came in back in the day. I bet some flour still is packaged in the sacks. They along with tee shirts and microfiber towels are considered better than towels because they don't snag our curls.
Thanks for your help. I will wear a hump with my frohawk. I saw Trey Songz video for I Inveted/Say Ahhh. The lady in the video appears to have the style I hope to achieve tomorrow. I hope mine looks as good as hers. Corinne Bailey Rae's hair looks great! Have y'all seen either lady? What do you think about their hair?
