Crys,
thank you for that response to my hard hair issue. I think you are right. Should I stop using the SAS all together?

awww lol @ braiding Gizmo's hair
i've been gone for a while, but i see you're twists are out now &&& the hair is looking just as beautiful as ever! Do you find that flaxseed gel works better than your aloe vera gel?...or do you use both for different reasons?

To Protein or Not - Smooth as Silk
No, I would suggest using it less frequently or mixing it with a moisturizing conditioner. I try to incorporate some protein every week.sweetdrk1 wrote:Crys,

You could also do an elasticity test with either shed hairs or hairs plucked from the root. Wet the hair and pull it. If it breaks quickly, you need moisture. If it stretches for a while before breaking, up your protein. If it makes a snap sound, your hair is in perfect balance-keep doing what you are doing.

Flax seed gel vs aloe vera gel

Flax seed gel has more hold than aloe vera gel. It is a good cheap natural gel that I plan to use for my WnGs when in warm weather.
I use aloe vera gel now for moisture. It is great mixed with a thinned out version of one of my cheapie conditioners. I have used it to slick down my hair but it didn't work wonders on my resistant hair.

Saturday, I did the following.
-Prepoo'd overnight with HE HH, honey and coconut oil
-Rinsed with cold water
-Plopped until damp
-Created a paste with kalpi tone, strong fenugreek and green teas, anoop oil and coconut oil
-Applied it to my hair in sections
-Let it sit for an hour with a plastic bag
-Rinsed and rinsed with warm water then rinsed some more and then co-washed with Suave coconut and apple conditioners (see frizz)
-Applied DB's deep moisture mask (see frizz gone)
-DC'ed with heat for an hour
-Rinsed with cold strong tea (same as one used to mix kalpi tone) and applied DB's hair milk and Afroveda's hibiscus hair oil
-Created four twists and air dried
-Finished look with DB's vanilla styling creme and Abba curl activator spray for sheen
I had a Freestyles (Reese) moment on Saturday. Enjoy!

Never heard of the Kalpi Tone...what are it's benefits? Any suggestions for Amla and Brahmi? I recently purchased them and don't know what to do with them. Help!

Beautiful as always!
Can you tell me what the benefits are of those products you used to make the paste? I went to an Indian grocery store the other day when I was in FL and saw some of the Ayurvedic (sp) powders but didn't get any because they all seemed to be for cleansing the scalp....I'm still needing a tutorial for these powders lol!
Also, what does DB stand for?
Thanks girl! I always look forward to seeing what you do to your hair! It's gorgeous!

Thanks for the info! I did read the back of the boxes but I think I got overwhelmed and just didn't know which one(s) to try. Seems like overall they help strengthen the hair, help with growth and cleansing the scalp. All great things

Thanks so much ChrsLvsBlk!
Now that I know Kalpi Tone is a mixture I'm going to keep my eyes out for it! Is it okay to mix the Amla and Brahmi? How much of it do you use for each application? The entire box? Just wondering...thanks for posting the Ayurvedic powder uses...it was extremely helpful!

Re: ChrsLvsBks - Comparison Pictures - Page 43
After working out, I used a product I had concocted over the summer. I do not remember what was in it but whatever it was did not get along with what I already had in my hair. My hair became stiff and felt gunky.
I decided to DC tonight. I spritzed my hair until damp with strong green and fenugreek teas. I mixed castor, coconut and EVOO oils and a new conditioner. It was a Vitamin Shoppe conditioner with jojoba. I placed a plastic bag over my head and let it sit for about three hours. I rinsed until it was mostly out with warm water then cold water. My hair felt really good and my curls clumped together nicely.
I am trying something new style wise. I will share regardless of the outcome.
Good night ladies...until tomorrow.
