Happy Thanksgiving!
I wore my Thanksgiving twist out today. One of the dinner guests actually asked me if it was "all mine," I was happy to say "yes ma'am."
This time when I took out my twists I used my pick to lift my roots, attempting to add some volume. Lately, my twists have been too perfect and my twist outs are super defined, the only reason I don't like that definition is because then my twist outs are not as huge as I would like them to be. (Yes, I was very tired in the pic)
Tomorrow I think I am going to attempt the Henna, that is if I have any energy left after Black Friday shopping. I am still nervous and no clue where to start.

The twist out is cute. I'm looking forward to reading about your henna experience.

Re: ♥ tiashauntee ♥
I am sitting here with the henna in now. I mixed it last night....the smell was terrible. My hubby said it looked like poop and I said it smelled like poop.
After mixing I thought I had too much but I used every single glob. I am glad I didn't half it like I started to.

Re: ♥ tiashauntee ♥
I'm hoping you love the results of the henna. I'll be checking back to see how you liked it, and what you used to mix it.
First Time with Henna
Well, I did it. I am no longer a Henna virgin! I did tons of reading up on my mixing options and decided to go with yogurt. I used about 1 1/4 cup of yogurt. I didn't add any oils, I wanted to keep the mix fairly simple- as like most of my hair care regimens.
The smell was horrible!!!! So I did use some cinnamon, that helped but I still went to bed with the scent stuck in my nose. I let the mix sit overnight and then applied to freshly shampooed hair. I was a little nervous about the color deposit so I only left the Henna on for 3 hours. After deep conditioning my hair was extremely soft. I was scared that I was going to have thicker hair-which is what I did not want. So far the thickness feels the same, no texture change, just a brighter color and a softer feel. I like. Now I am ready to see how my hair is reacting a few weeks from now.
I have more pics in my FOTKI album, in the "My Hair Care" folder

Wow! I really like the color deposited by the henna! I'm getting a little bored with my black hair. It's been so long since I've seen my natural color (no highlights) that I've forgotten how dark it is. I want to try henna, but not sure if I'm ready to put in the work.
Was the before your natural hair color? If not, what color was it?
By the way, the twist out above looked really cute!

Re: ♥ tiashauntee ♥
The before was not my natural color. I dyed my hair back in August with Soft-Sheen Carson Vivacious Red. So the Henna was applied on top of that. However, I only dyed the top of my hair so I was able to see how the Henna would react with my natural color. My black hair turned a light brown. I'm glad I am not afraid of color.
Re: ♥ tiashauntee ♥
Okay, thanks! Hmmm...from black to light brown sounds like the change I need. But I'll probably wait a little while longer before I try it.

Re: ♥ tiashauntee ♥
ok so besides the color, the main thing is it feels softer? is this a softer that you can't get with a DC?
I know everyone's reactions are different so just curious before I try it! lol

I would say yes. It wasn't jaw dropping-Jesus done worked a miracle soft, but it was softer. I would say it is at least worth trying.

@ terra d..congrats on the win!
@ tia...is there a "time" in the natural journey for henna? By that I mean that I dont see alot of girls with TWA doing henna...is there a reason for that?

I honestly have no idea. This was my first time doing it and I have been natural forever. However, after going through the process I don't think that there is a "time." It would probably be easier to do on a TWA and might help with healthier growing.
My First Roller Set
This is truly a "hairy" weekend for me. Since I finally have a few days off I wanted to try something that has been on my waiting list. After seeing how cheap the rollers were I decided this was going to be my first experiment.
Let me know what you think and as always I am open to suggestions:

OMG! Looks like to have had a very exciting week in regards to your hair! First, your Thanksgiving 'do was FAB and your skin looked AWESOME....very radiant and FLAWLESS! Second, loved your henna results! Watch out, in the last two weeks, I have done 2 henna treatments and a henna gloss. Can you say ADDICTED...LOL. Thirdly, your rollset was super cute, too! Loved the results with the color! Simply Beautiful!

Thank you so much! I owe my skin to Aveeno oatmeal soap and applying shea butter at night. I am never leaving that routine.
I was truly experimenting this weekend. I had no idea what to expect from the Henna nor the roller set. I don't think I will get addicted because I barely have any free time as it is, I guess that is a good thing. I could see my entire paycheck going to Butter n bars.
Beautiful Rollerset

OMGoodness, this is very pretty.
How long until it dried? I am interested in trying a rollerset this winter.
Re: ♥ tiashauntee ♥
I have thick hair so anything takes a long time under the dryer for me. I think I was under for 2 hours. It could have been longer- I was typing a paper and watching TV
Re: ♥ tiashauntee ♥
