Re: ♥ tiashauntee ♥
Y'all have really put my on the spot. That's fine I need to be held accountable this month, I get bored with a style quick...so this will truly be a challenge for me.
Today I wore my twists pinned up just like this:
This is an older photo but the style is the same

Ok I just looked at your Fotki and I must say you are talented and so creative! You're the queen of twists at this point! You do such pretty and creative styles. And it's amazing to me that you do all that yourself.
Re: ♥ tiashauntee ♥
I love casual days at work because I get to wear my hats and my hats protect my hair. It's a win-win situation. Last night I spritzed my twists with Aloe Gro and sealed with Castor/Almond Oil mix. This morning-because it's "cooler than a polar bears toenails" I applied some coconut oil before putting on my bonnet and my hat. I'll see if that little experiment made a difference later this evening.
Also, as a result of having my twist, I now have more free time at night (I should have went to church, it's revival week--but that's another story). So I decided to tackle a project (hair related) that has been on my mind for a few weeks. I have been wanting to create my own head wrap for sleeping. I can't find anything that is comfortable for me to sleep in. So here it is, I call it my "Lotta Hair Head Wrap"

That's my favorite line in that song!
Re: ♥ tiashauntee ♥
You are so creative. I am gonna have to find something else to put on my hair at night because my bonnet is getting too small. I may have to give that a try. Now I wish I took HomeEconomics when I was in school because I can sew to save my life. Where did you purchase your fabric glue? Do you think I could get it from Walmart?

@Lynnieluve: I did get it from Wal-Mart. If they don't have it there is an iron-on kind that is just as easy to use

Banana leaves? Cool! Very different.

tiashauntee wrote:For the month of January I am going to attempt to keep my hair in two strand twist. I want to keep the same ones in for the entire month....we'll see of that happens. It took me three hours to get all these little things done:
Today I have them pinned up so that they are not sweeping across my rough sweater. I know from previous years that my sweaters love to snatch and break my ends. On causal days and weekends I intend to wear hats. That leaves my hair exposed only 4 days out of the week-not bad.
I did my twist on co-washed hair, used my hold cream at the roots, and shea butter on the rest of the length. Then last night before bed I applied some coconut oil, my hair smells yummy.
I think I am going to switch it up a bit and apply the coconut oil in the morning.
It only took you 3 hours??? Thats impressive! But then again you are a professional (you seriuosly are!) I think I need to do a protective style for a whole month - Ill choose Feb since its the shortest lol. I ddi my twists on dry hair last time and I didn't like it one bit. I will try again after a cowash. Can't wait to see the rest of your styles!

Re: ♥ tiashauntee ♥
Theres also this stuff called stitch witchery. Its like tape and you just iron over it. I went to the fabric store last week and bought some satin fabric and Stitch Witchery but I have yet to use it. I'm going to make myself a scarf and then line all of our hats with the rest.Lynnieluve wrote:You are so creative. Hey Tia, I read that you have an oil rinse that you do. Can you point me in the direction of that info or tell me what it is please? (I'm too lazy to search through the previous 18 pages )

Tia,
I need a tutorial on how to flat twist and regular twist. I also need to learn how to do cornrows. I tried tonight (flat braids) for the first time. I don't even know if I want to take pictures. The front is alright but the back is WTH happened. We'll see how it turns out in the morning.

Tia,
I found a 3 strand twist youtube video using colored yarn. Now I need to go buy a mannequin or something to practice on .

Cool I bet the different color yarn made it a lot easier to understand. Keep practicing I thought I would never get it and if it wasn't for YouTube I probably wouldn't have. I just learned how to flat twist last year so I am still somewhat new to it.
Re: ♥ tiashauntee ♥
No excitement here, my twists are still pinned up but today I did put on a headband. I am going to have to start using my accessories to keep from getting bored with my hair this month. I already have two twists in the back that want to unravel. I am going to twist them back up with some gel and clip them in place until they dry. My hair in the back is extremely soft and will not hold anything unless I make it, it's also the only section that never tangles.
I have been looking at some loc styles that I may be able to do with my twists...I am going to try something this weekend. My goal is to wear them a different way each week so that I can cut down on manipulation and they will last the entire month.

Re: ♥ tiashauntee ♥
Glad you haven't taking those twists out yet...you know we are watching...plus you will be able to use your creativity and show 31 days of twisted styles for all of CN to see
My hair in the back is the sammmmmme way!! Whenever I do twists or anything the back starts to unravel as soon as I put them in...It also never tangles...weird huh...
