Thanks @freckledmom4! I did about 15-20 individual plaits all over then pincurled them to my head.

Re: jlowman1: SHORT UPDATE 3/18 =)
I am sooooo thinking about coloring my hair this weekend. I've been wanting to do it for a while and I think I'm just gonna go for it. I had color when I was relaxed and my hair did fine so I'm pretty sure it'll be ok. Its healthy and I've been taking great care of it. In the past I used Dark and Lovely permanent hair color with great results, so I'm going to stick with what I know. Here are the colors I'm shooting for:

I like the chestnut blonde. Will it be able to lighten your hair that much? Which one are you leaning towards?

I'm leaning more towards the chestnut blonde as well. & That's a good question. lol, I'm hoping it does. I'm wondering now since I'm natural is it gonna be harder for it to process? I think they usually say go a shade or two lighter than what you really want but I'm dyeing my whole head so I don't want it to be too bright.

I went through the whole to color or not to color a while back also. I like the chestnut blonde. Since your natural hair is dark I think you will have to use some type of lightner to process the color.
Re: jlowman1: SHORT UPDATE 3/18 =)
Hey JLow,
I like the Chestnut Blonde color. You will have to lighten your hair for that so you should probaby have a professional do it - not unless you are really comfortable with lifting/lightening your hair that much.
That color will look nice on you.
Good luck! And be sure to post pics.

I didn't have any issue when relaxed lifting the color. I was half honey blonde the first time I dyed. Could that have been easier because my cuticle was already lifted from the relaxer?

I won a wig! Wooo hoooo! This is my second blog win. My first win was on MopTopMaven's blog and I won some MAC products. This time I won on Robyn's Nest! I won a wig called the "Rachel":
Soooo cute! I cant wait to get it and wear it. I showed my Mom the pic and she said she's going to steal it from me lol she loves the look of it and has been wanting a wig to change up her look. I'm coloring my hair this weekend so if it just looks too weird with the color, I'll let her wear it.

I'm torn between whether to color or not to color. But I'm definitely going to color!! I will, however, let my friend who is a stylist (and also did my BC) do it for me because I have no experience will color besides cellophane so I don't wanna risk allowing my coloring ignorance to hurt my hair
Can't wait to see your new color though!

I'm excited, I cant wait to see how it turns out. I'm kind of thinking it may be a little more red or at least have a red tint because I've hennaed in the past. I'm gonna do a strand test first before I do my whole head just to be sure.

Re: jlowman1: SHORT UPDATE 3/18 =)
So I did it you guys, I colored my hair and as promised here are the results:
The pics really do the color no justice. It looks better and brighter in person. I love it! I needed a change with my hair and I DEFINITELY got it with this color. lol, In order to avoid breakage, I will be getting back on track with my deep conditioning sessions. I bought Pantene Curly deep conditioner. Its pretty good but I'm ready for my Hairveda Sitrinillah Deep Conditioner to arrive. I heard that it's great stuff. I also bought a heat therapy wrap so I could beef up the effectiveness of the treatments as well.

I think the red probably has alot to do with the fact that I hennaed quite a few times too.

It looks great!!! Give us more details. Did your aunt do it? Did she have to lighten your hair first?

Thanks Lynnie! Yes, my aunt did it. No she didn't have to lighten it. I used the Dark and Lovely Chestnut Blonde color. It comes with the actual color and the developer. You just mix those two together and apply similar to the way you would do a perm. I did a strand test with hair from my brush just to make sure it would turn. I had previously used henna so I wanted to make sure I wasn't gonna get green hair lol. I left it on for about 45 minutes, the directions say 30 for natural hair but at 30 mins, it wasn't quite light enough for me. Then I just washed it out really good then deep conditioned. I actually could have done the whole process by myself but I wanted to be sure the back of my head was taken care of. Overall, Im happy with the results. My hair still feels healthy and I've made sure to keep it really moisturized. Now I just need to find a color safe, sulfate free shampoo.
