Are you using EcoStyler gel?
I didnt use Eco gel, I will try it next time though...the gel is optional, i think it helps with frizz..if you use a very small amount..
Thank you!tiashauntee wrote:MahoganyCurls wrote:New video is uploading...it looks kinda weird to me..so bare with me guys...It should be posted on youtube in about 1hr...it takes forever to upload in HD! uggh!
In the meantime, here are my results from the accordion technique..a lot of shrinkage, but I LOVE the results!!! I will continue to do my wash n gos this way!
Amazing curls!
Yes, you can refresh with water and scrunch...today, i just hopped in the shower rinsed applied a very small amount of conditoner and rescrunched...no detangling...but like i said earlier, you can spritz, (get it pretty saturated) scrunch and go!BlondeByDesire wrote:Okay I watched, I like that way. Looks easy.
So in the morning, you just refresh with water?
Great job.

MC love your hair it is so gorgeous!!! When you had the plaits in your hair how many plaits did you have? Also did you have them going in a certain direction to pin them up? I have been experimenting with plaits also and I would like to leave them in for a few days before taking them down. TIA

Hey chica! Just wanted to let you know 2nd day hair is holding up well! Spritzed with a mix of Suave and water... Slight frizz, but it makes the WnG fuller, if that makes sense. Put it in a fro-hawk, and got soooo many compliments today--even told a fellow natural how to do it, and sent them to your YT channel
Oh--and you're awesome! Will be using this technique from now on--shrinkage and all!

Hi! Thank you! I think I had about 12 plaits all over. I didnt count. I just started from the back. I did four sections in the back. And about 4-6 in the front. I didnt have a lot plaits. I am lazy and I wanted to be done as soon as possible! I do not think it will matter how your plaits are going when you pin them back. I just pin all of them going towards the back, but it is up to you! This is an awesome style if you do not want to manipulate your hair too much! Again, thank you!

Love, love, love this technique!
Okay,
My wash n go worries are over now! I absolutely love this method. Instead of going for second day hair, I decided to hop in the shower and wet my hair ...just to see if this method is a fluke, you know, just a 1st time thing.
I didnt detangle, I just let the water run down my hair...then added a VERY small amount of conditioner, I didnt need to use much because my hair already had conditoner in it...I started scrunching, (skipped the gel)...and to my surprise, spectacular results just more volume!
It works the same way EVERYTIME! I mean, of course your wash n gos arent gonna be totally identical, but they are very similar. This technique is definitely a keeper!
The awesome part is, the longer your hair gets the better the results are! You will not have to make adjustments (due to hair growth). It stays the same, which is awesome if you like to stick to one thing....(such as myself ).
Yes, you will get shrinkage, BUT I will take the shrinkage over a good hair day...My husband told me loved the way my wash n go looked Friday. Lately he has been saying my was n gos looked "jhericurlish"...but friday, he was said it was very pretty...so that is definitely a plus!
I would like to share a few Accordion Technique Tips with you guys
Do NOT touch your hair while it is drying! If you have to get dressed gently put your clothes on trying not to disturb your curls or wait until your hair is dry.
You can increase drying time if you use paper towels to blot your hair (gently) or a microfiber towel...I wouldnt use a regular towel. They are too harsh for our hair...paper towels are more absorbent, but of course they arent ECO friendly...
If you hair dries a little hard and you do not like it, genlty scrunch your hair and the hardened cast will be remove, GENLTY! (I demostrated this in the video friday).
And that is pretty much it! Oh yeah! If you want more volume, flip your head over and gently rub your scalp left to right, it is hard to explain, without disturbing your curls...it works, i will demostrate this in a new video as well!
HTH! HHG!

I would like to share a few Accordion Technique Tips with you guys
- I suggest detangling your hair right after you have cowashed (or shampoo'd) it. Meaning detangle your hair when you apply your DC or with your cowash. Why? The book suggest raking the product through then step under the shower and scrunch. I find that raking your final product (styler) through your hair breaks the clumps...giving you ramen noodle curls. It is fine, if that is the look you are going for but if you want your curls to clump I suggest detangling ONCE (preferably after you have cowashed or during your DC) and just rinse, apply your styler or conditioner and start scrunching.
- You do NOT have to use Gel...I used a little gel (nickel size) because it helps with frizz..but you can use conditioner or styler only and my curls came out fine!
- If you need a little volume, take some clips (magnetic roller clips) when you get out of the shower and your hair is sopping wet, take a small amount of clear gel and put it in the clip and clip your roots..the clips and gel will give you added volume (I will post a video on this) Leave the clips in your hair for at least 5 minutes (You can leave them in longer if you want...).
Do NOT touch your hair while it is drying! If you have to get dressed gently put your clothes on trying not to disturb your curls or wait until your hair is dry.

3rd Time Trying the Accordion Technique Using Suave Naturals
Okay,
So I have been testing this method to see if it is just good the first day and sucks when you try it over. ...lol...
I havent tried to see how it works for second day hair yet...I will do it tomorrow.
Yesterday- i hoped in the shower wet my hair without disturbing it (imagine standing under a waterfall). I added a small amount of Bed Head MM squished through my hair. Let it sit for a second...washed off. Turned the shower back on quickly rinsed for about 3-5 seconds..started scrunching..
To my surprise, awesome results!!!!!!
TODAY
I cowashed and DC last night with suave naturals and added coconut oil to my ends. Slept with my plastic cap. This morning I got in the shower, rinsed the DC out and decided to use Suave Naturals Tropical Coconut Conditioner as my leave in... I wanted to see if this technique will work with a cheap product ( I like to experiment). So, I applied the conditioner to my hair.
This is how I apply my conditioner now (I follow lorraine's method):
-Take some and apply it to my canopy first
-Then I apply some more to my nape area
-Then I take a little more and apply it to my sides
-The conditoner is applied in a squshing motion
-Clean your body and allow the conditioner to sit for a second
-Detangle or proceed with styling
Your hair should began to feel very soft and smooth kinda like seaweed. It works like a charm. The amount of conditoner you use depends on your dehydration level and your hair. She suggests a quarter size amount. I have noticed the more you do this, the less conditoner you will have to use!
Now, in the past I have complained about suave naturals and V05 not detangling my hair anymore, but since following this technique I get tons of slip from V05 and Suave! Along with my other conditioners as well (the more expensive ones).
And, I do not have to part my hair in sections anymore just to detangle, I used to hate my detangling sessions, but now, it is whatever..BTW, I always use my fingers.
Anyway, I did that and started scrunching...left side, back, right side, back, and canopy last.
I stepped out of the shower and WOW! I couldnt believe my eyes!!!!!!
I positioned my hair (you know- where you want your hair to lay, I only touch the front..you will see) and put my clothes on and let it do its thing (air drying)..oh yeah, i removed the excess water by gently blotting it with paper towels. Paper towels are more absorbent than towels..IMO..and it doesnt produce frizz.
VOLUME
Okay, as you all know, I have a natural part that I absolutely despise..and my 3b area will lay very flat to my head...lorraine suggests using magnetic roller clips for your roots after you get out of the shower for added volume.
This is how you do it:
Take a small amount of gel put it between the clip, and clip your roots in the area you want to have a little lift. I hope that makes sense. The gel will give your hair a little "hold" at the roots allowing air to dry the base of the roots faster giving you volume.
That is it:
My hair is still a little damp in the pictures..I will update this post with my hair dry.
Bottom line: Suave Naturals (or any cheapie conditioner) works great with this Technique! Meaning you do not have to spend a lot of money on expensive products just to get good results!!!!!!!
This is how i position my clips for volume:
My results using suave naturals conditioner (damp hair) I only used conditioner -No Gel
EDITED- Dry Hair- Love it! My wash n go problems are SOLVED!
