Hair Revelations & Weightoss
Happy Thursday Beauties!!!
I hope that your day is going well so far. Mine is going pretty good. It's nice and sunny but not warm yet..this weekend it should be in the mid to high 70's.
Anyways: If you stopped by yesterday, you know that I coiled my at work yesterday while at my desk. (^^^ to check back) Since I was at work, I could only spritz my hair sporadically and for obvious reasons, it could not be sopping wet. I coiled on damp/dry hair and realized a few things:
1. The drier my hair, the more it holds a stretched length, and the longer my coils are.
2. My coils are a less defined and a bit more fuzzy, which is fine. They also look more like locs than coils...again fine.
3. Less bling! Usually when I coil my hair it's saturated and I'm using either ORS Loc and Twist Gel or Eco Styler. When my hair dries, the coils are crazy shiny. This time there is sheen but no shine.
4. I am OVERDUE for a trim. All the little sad ends are making my coils puff at the tips a bit. Time to snip!
I'm going to trim my hair when I put my three strand twists in. I'll most likely do a blow out to trim all the random straight hairs that I have. (There is one almost on the nape of my neck that grows out perfectly straight but doesn't hang...it just sticks out) Then when I do my twists I'll trim the ends as I go.
Today I just spritzed and fluffed. I'll snap a pic of the touched up coils and post it later.
In other news: I weighed myself last night and I have lost 4 lbs since last week!!! Yaaaaaay! I can't really see that much of a difference except that my tummy seems a bit smaller. My GF says that my rear feels firmer and less jiggly. Haaaaaaaaaaaaaaay. Brazilian bikini bottoms here I come!!
That's it for now dears!!!
Love!

Is it over all ready?
Happy Friday Ladies!
As Lynn reminded me when I was reading her thread... today is the last day of the BnB Challenge! I have had a great time with all of you and learned so much! I will continue to post on the Curls Street Journal thread and will work on including more pics in my posts and keeping my Fotki updated.
I'm thinking about joining the BAA challenge, I'm going to pop over and check it out. Apparently it ends in August which is 1 year since I BC'd originally this time around an when I'm planning on putting in kinky twists as my fall protective style.
Today was a spritz and go day. There are still some random uncoiled clumps of hair. When I come across them i just coil them up. I working a fashion show tomorrow so most likely I'll pin Seffy on the sides so I can keep my hand out of her while I'm there (HIH is not the most professional look when you'll be touching people's faces).
We (Seffy & I) have grown to love you all so much. Thank you for stopping by and supporting us, giving us your ideas and honest opinions, and most of all for letting us being a part of this womderful online community.
ttyl!

Curl Street Journal & Natural Fam
Happy Monday!
I'm with Nubie, no more eulogies for BnB!!!! Welcome to the Curl St. Journal!!!! YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY!
How was everyone's weekend? Mine went really well. I did make-up for a charity fashion show on Saturday. It was a long day (11 hours straight) but very fun. I met a lot of wonderful people, models, and up-and-coming indie designers. Fun! Fun! Fun!
Yesterday I took down my coils. It actually didn't take to long and I loved the result. Here's what I did:
1. Cowashed with Aussie Moist
2. Wrapped hair in a tshirt to absorb excess water
3. Added my Shea Moisture Argan Reonstructer as a leave in (sn: I may need to find a lighter leave-in. I notice that I can have some product flakiness after a few days..I may just need to cowash more)
3. Melted some coconut oil in my hands and ran it through my hair.
4. Uncoiled coils using just my fingers and coconut oil. I concentrated on detangling the ends using extra oil to provide more slip if necessary.
5. Used my moisture spritz for any dry sections.
Result: Big beautiful hair (albeit a tad on the oily side). Since I was going out to enjoy the sun (80+ degress haaaaaaay!) I anted to make sure that Seffy stayed moist and any extra oil will be baked in. I used my fingers to pull and fluff my hair until I had a beautifully uneven fro. Added a flower pin and was off.
Today I just spritzed and fluffed my fro. It's looking big and awesome. I'm starting the BAA challenge and I can't wait to see how much length I'll have by the end of August.
Here is a pic that my cousin found the other day. It is 4 generations of natural women in my family circa 1980:
From the left: My Great Grandmother Clyde, my Grandmother Electra, my Mother Teryl, and me in the yellow romper.

Thanks ladies! Yes being natural has always been in rotation in my family. In fact now I think that only my Mom and younger cousin have perms. My brother and cousin both have locs, my Grandma and I are Natural. The genes are strong in Price women! We all look like our Moms (even my brother) and not so much like our Dads, hahaha.

Seffy is one happy camper. I've been pretty good about the HIH but it's hard when I'm wearing a fro!

BAA Challege Info
Good Morning Ladies!
I got so caught up yesterday in reading/catching up with everyone's
thread that I didn't get to post my reggie for the BAA Challenge. I'm
going to post it here and in the thread.
Current Length: 3.5 inches
Goal Length: 6 inches
Challenge Length: 6 months - Out/twists/braids etc May-Aug; Kinky
twists Aug-November
Regimen (to be tweaked as needed):
Wear hair in protective styles for two weeks at a time with one week
out in between styles (maybe). Follow a balanced diet, exercise daily,
take vitamins, and drink 8-12 glasses of water a day. Sleep in satin
bonnet regardless of hair style.
Monthly:
DC with Heat
Cherry Lola Treatment
Trim Ends (if needed)
Twice a Month:
Shampoo
Style
Weekly
DC
Refresh style (if needed)
Oil/butter scalp
As needed
Cowash
Moisturize
I'm really excited for this challenge. I know that Seffy grows like a
weed when she's all twisted up so I hope I can hit my length goal. This
will also give me the time to practice my braiding and cornrow skills.
In November it'll be a year since my mini chop post BC.
Good luck to everyone on their challenges!!
Love!

Re: Natural in Wonderland
Feliz Cinco de Mayo muchachas!
Today I am still rockin my fro. I rinsed with warm water, massaged Seffy, then rinsed with cool water. Wrapped her up in a tshirt to get out all the excess moisture and added my SheaMoisture leave-in. Seffy is soft and moisturized. As far as styling goes, i just patted her into shape.
This morning while I was walking to the shuttle to work, I saw a woman with an AMAZING fro. It was a gorgeous rich chocolatey brown (her natural color I think) and easily 6 inches high. It didn't look like she had picked it out much either. I just stared and smiled. I wanted to say something but she was heading to the train station. Le sigh. That mystery woman has just become my new BAA Hairspiration.
Since I am on a search for a new leave-in, it got to me to thinking about products. Do you use different products for different hair styles? Right now I'm looking for a leave-in that will work for long term style like twist and braids (soon). However I think that for my loose styles (puffs, fros, wng) I need a leave-in that is specifically for curl enhancement and possible elongation. I was flipping through my CosmoProf mailer and saw this. I'm thinking that I may pick up some of the products to have on hand when I have a bit more length and am doing loose styles more. I am looking at the Shampoo, Conditioner, Leave-In, Amplifier, and Serum. I have to go to CosmoProf today so I may indulge my PJ...or at least read the labels.

TIGI Curlesque Review Coming Soon
I just went out and got the TIGI Curlesque. Of course I read the ingredients once I got back to work. It has some not so good things in it (mineral oil, DLS) but since I'm not planning on using the products often, I should be fine. Seffy is pretty resilient. I'm going to try the products over the next few days and let you all know how it goes!

I'll def keep you updated Sis. Hopefully the Curlesque works out but I'll be trying some others as well including Qhemet Biologics, Komaza Care, JessiCurl, and of course Oyin. I haven't had a summer reggie so it'll be some trial and error. The goal is not to have too many things to offload at the next product swap!!
