It must have been my computer...I finally saw pictures!!! Love the braids and the braid out!!! Good Job!!
I haven't won a chicken dinner, and I figure I lowered my chances by braiding my hair up. Plus I'm not as committed to posting in other threads as I am to the BnB thread.
I don't mind cause I've gain so much knowledge, and I feel like there is a bond between the ladies on this thread!!
I hope we can keep it going...I love seeing and reading about everyone's hair and their day!!

I'm contemplating a long term protective style right now myself...

Re: Juices-n-Berries xal is high and fly!
So in hair news, I finally washed out the braidout this morning. I didn't post any pics because I didn't really like it after the first day. I love the Burnt Sugar Pomade but perhaps it didn't have
enough hold. Next time I will try using it along with the Shine and Define. I used Kimmaytube's method to wash. I finger detangled with my EVCO/EVOO mix. I comb detangled using V05 Moisture Milk condish (1st time using this. It's pretty ok). Then I shampooed with Bioinfusion Rosemary Mint Shampoo. Yay for tingling! I was very happy. Then I buffered with the Rosemary Mint Condish (definitely not enough slip but I'll use for cowashing since it tingles). I now am sitting with the Shea Moisture DT on which I will do a review of once rinsed out.
But I'm really having mixed feelings about my hair. I'm really starting to love the way my hair feels in my hands. It feels so full and thick and healthy. I've been having some serious HIH. But, the shape of my hair is really starting to annoy me. It's different lengths in different spots and I don't like the sides. I think it's that I'm at that awkward stage. Like, I don't think you would call this a TWA, but it's not long enough to hang dry yet or really do anything with it. And then it's not growing as fast as I would have liked. I just calculated that I'm 11 months post relaxer (even though I didn't take very good care of my hair during transition) and about 4 1/2 months post BC. Shouldn't I have more length by now? It doesn't seem to have grown at all since I BCed. I'm just getting frustrated and discouraged. Plus, by day 2 or 3, no matter if it's a twist out, braid out, wash and go, it always ends up in a puff. So it essentially looks the same every single day. Puff puff puff puff wash braids braidout puff puff puff puff wash twists twistout puff puff puff puff wash-and-go puff puff puff puff puff... <------- Wasn't that annoying??? This is how I feel. I'm bored. And I'm running out of hats and earrings!!! Help! Any suggestions would be appreciated...

Hey JnB-
I just had to stop in and let you know how stressed out not having my internet has been for me!! I had a dream that some of the ladies from the site came to Houston for meet-up. I don't remember who all was there, but I was looking for you all over the place. We were at the Houston zoo!!!
I saw Bholmes and she didn't want to give me a hug, and all I wanted to do was touch her hair! WHEW!!!
This NOT having my internet is driving me crazy!!!!
Well....I see that you are at the in-between stage. I hit that point about a month ago and that's how I ended up in braids. It was a washNgo then a Puff..a bad twist out then a Puff, then my attempt at twists again then a Puff. (I know how you feel)
I was very bored and I made an appointment to get my hair braided before I did anything I would regret!!! So I think you should treat yourself to a hair style compliments of Zayds!!
What do you think?
Well just know that your puffs and earrings are too cute!

@JnB: I think I agree with KNH, maybe you should get braids or kinky twists if you're feeling bored and frustrated with the length. Even though you are totally rocking your hair right now so I think you should keep on working with your hair!!!! (but that's just my opinion!)
As for running out of hats and earrings, you should go on a shopping spree!!! Not a huge one, just get some really cute accessories that you LOVE!
I could make you a bow headband too if you'd like just let me know!
Re: Juices-n-Berries xal is high and fly!
When I get in a style rut I start looking at FOTKI and YouTube. Someone out there with hair you length is doing something creative
Re: Juices-n-Berries xal is high and fly!
I definitely understand your frustration. Have you tried using bobby pins to shape your hair the way you want? I've found them to be an absolute necessity. I use them to pin the sides back, give lift/volume, etc. Small hair combs work too, but I prefer bobby pins.
I think you're doing a fantastic job with your hair. I'd be sad to see you get braids or something, but you have to do what's best for you. And you may not see it, but it is growing. I agree that a mini accessory haul may be in order to help get you out of your hair "rut".
The awkward stage doesn't last forever. Try to hang in there and be patient.

Lol. Having dreams about people on CurlyNikki. That's funny. Lol. You are right. I may consider treating myself to a styling at the salon. I just don't wanna make a habit of it again. I am enjoying doing my hair and I can tell it's feeling alot better. But since I can't really cornrow or do anything excited I'm just getting really bored. But we shall see. And thanks!

The accessory spree would be a good idea... except, I already did. Most of the accessories ya'll have seen on my thread in the past month were recently purchased. I bought about 6 hats, 3 earrings, bracelets, several headbands, a bow, and even some gloves (weird I know lol). So I've spent far too much money on accessories already. But maybe I'll ask daddy to sponsor me. Lol. We shall see... Thanks for the suggestion.

Hi JnB,
I was just stopping by to see what you had poppin' with your hair and/or avi. You always keeps things fresh. I'm sorry you're getting frustrated with you hair. I know you have to do what makes you comfortable, but I hope you don't braid up that beautiful head of hair.
Girl, you need to look around online and/or take you a trip to the mall and get more FLY accessories. Hook yourself up.
I'm just in the TWA phase so I can't offer much advice. Just some encouragement and support. Hang in there. And if you do go on an accessory spree, let us see. You know we like pics!

Hey- JNB!
I remember that awkward stage. I went to Zayd's every two weeks then and eventually I got some straight twists with extensions and I wore them for about 6 weeks.
Now that I am learning how to try more styles, I am doing better. I hope that condish tingles enough for you. I bought some Organix Tea Tree Mint condish from CVS today, its on sale for $4.99 now. I haven't used it yet, but it smells good.
If you need more jewelry JcPenney has the cutest Decree jewelry and its on sale, too.
And I agree with the person who mentioned watching Youtube videos-check out sheacocoaluv. u guys may have the same length hair.

Hey JnB well first I love your hair, I hope you feel better about it even if it takes getting braids to give you some umph and let your hair grow out a bit more . Then second I have been looking at your avatar and I love your shirt, my dad works for fedex. Is there anywhere that I can order one from?

JnB, what are you talking about? Your hair has grown. Do you have the very first pics from your BC? I remember them. They where coils you got done at the salon. Your hair doesn't look that length now. It has grown. That is why pics are so important as well as journel writing. So in times like these, they can remind us of where we came from......lol.
Why don't you do the coils again? Wear those for a week then turn it into a coil out . Then you can really compare the pics.

Lol. I bought it back when I was high school, about 8 years ago. (i feel old) lol. I have no idea where I got it. Sorry. Maybe you could google it.

I got coils a while back but she did them differently. That's what concerns me though. It looks like it's growing, but in actuality it seems like I'm just finding better ways to stretch it. Because once I wash it, it shrinks back down to the same size. I compared my wet hair right after the BC and now and it looks almost exact same. Sigh. I'll try to scrounge up some pics and see if we can do a comparison.

Yes, I was trying to wait until the fall to get them because I wanted to do wash n gos in the summer, but I may have to reconsider

Re: Juices-n-Berries xal is high and fly!
So, like I said last night, I did a deep treatment with Shea Moisture Organic Raw Shea Butter Deep Treatment Mask. I LOVE IT! It smells absolutely delicious. And it is very moisturizing. Here are the ingredients:
Deionized water, shea butter, argan oil, cetyl esters, sea kelp extract, panthenol (vitamin b-5), ammonium salt, essential oil blend, avocado oil, honeysuckle flower, japanese honeysuckle flower extract, tocopherol (vitamin e), hyssopus officnialis extract, sage leaf and equisetum arvense extract, soybean oil, carrot seed oil
As you can see it has excellent ingredients. and it does what it claims to do. As an added bonus, it also gives curl definition. Look see.
The directions say that you can use this as a leave in as well. So I will definitely try this one day for a wash and go or as a pre styling moisturizer. And they sell it at Target. Yay!
But after I took so much time to moisturize my hair. I had let my curiosity get the best of me. I decided to go ahead and try the Carol's Daughter hair milk for a wash and go. What did I do that for? This product is NOT moisturizing at all. It claims to tame frizz and add shine, but I was left with a dry frizzy mess. I did not like the way it felt going into my hair. Even with gels or KCCC when it goes in my hair feels slick. It just felt dry. I had absolutely NO CURL DEFINITION. Now, I will say once it dried I didn't totally hate it. It wasn't crunchy. But it looked like any other wash and go I could have done with conditioner only. It didn't really do anything. I will not be purchasing. But I'll find someway to use it up. It's only a sample size. So, it's not a total loss. But of course, I was left with no other styling option except... a puff.
But tonight I am going out and plan on doing some version of a frohawk. We shall see how that turns out. I will post pics.

Ooooh, a frohawk!
Your curls are popping, and the ingredients sound divine. I am sure I will get it one day.

A frohawk sounds lovely! One of my favorite styles on other people. *sigh* one day I'll figure out a mock frohawk. I have visual in my mind but can't seem to execute. Your frohawk should be beautiful.

Please do not do that, bad mistake for me. the suggestion the ladies above have are great one, I wish I had this site when I was going thru my stage. keep us posted.
I'm never going back to relaxers. I'd never do anything that drast. Even when my hair was about this length relaxed I felt the same way, so that wouldn't solve the problem anyway. I've just gotta figure out a way to work it out. I'll come up with something.

And a frohawk would be awesome on you!!!

Your curls are popping, and the ingredients sound divine. I am sure I will get it one day.
Not to encourage any PJism, but I definitely think their products are worth a try.

I think you should give it a whirl. I'm sure it'll look great.

First let me say, your hair is growing but I understand with the awkward stage because that's where I am. Like TJ said, bobby pins and hair combs can be your new friends.
Your style sequence sounds like me but I am ok with that because Roxie doesnt like to be out for more than 3 days.
Check out Youtube and Fotki. Pay your stylist a visit if you have to. Just hang in there sis!!
I got the same results with CD Hair Milk. I've come to accept the fact that CD products just dont work on my hair.
Oooo, frohawk!! I cant wait to see pics!!

Oh no. If Roxie's at an awkward stage and she's much longer than mine, that means I have a lonnnnng way to go. Lol. But yea, it's a no on the CD for now. I actually recently found like my exact hair twin on YouTube. Like, it's scary. We have the same hair type even in the same spots of our head. Lol. I'm going to try some of the styles I've seen her do.
