I student taught at the high school level (Algebra I). No, I'm not teaching yet. I was supposed to student teach for a whole year (last semester and this semester), but due to some technical difficulties my College of Education would not allow that. However, I still graduate in May and plan on applying for licensure at an alternative licensing center. So, hopefully I'll be teaching next school year.
So JnB......can you come and teach at my son's school? I've been doing battle with his Algebra I teacher...I just don't know what to say. I've sent her several e-mails and she just doesn't respond. So I just happened to see the Dean of Students and she asked me how I was doing. Why did she ask me that...so to make a long story short.
The DoS must have spoken with the teacher cause she called me talking to me like I was one of her students!!! She was really confused....I had to really get her on the right track, and that was hard to do and remain intelligent! The teacher told me that she and my son were fine and she didn't see what the problem was.
I came unglued and that point...I told her that I am NOT one of those parents that just sends my son to school. That this was a triangle relationship, and if I'm not doing well...whether she knew it or not she and my son were not doing well. I could go on and on...but the just of this story (or soap box is)
Do you tutor...
I'm am cracking myself up over hear!!!

Lol. I understand completely how you feel. It really bothers me that many teachers today do not take their jobs seriously. Do they not realize that the future of these children, the future of America is at stake by what they do? Do they not care? And the what bothers me even more is that because teachers are not adequately compensated for the job that they do, people who arre knowledgeable and might enjoy teaching choose other professions to not have to struggle financially on the low salary. But let me stop cuz I could get on that SOAPBOX and talk allllll day.
God bless you for being the type of parent that actually cares about their child's education and seeks to take an active roll. We need more people like this.
And yes, I do tutor for most subjects. :-) So you can send me a PM about that. :-)

No hair news today. Rockin the same old braided front twists. Which I love. And have gotten sooooo many compliments on. But I'm ready for them to come out. My head is itching and I need a deep condition. I'm doing the twistout tomorrow so I'll post pics of that. I'll probably wear it just till Sunday. And then take em out... and... do... my... own... twists. Lol. We shall see how that goes. Lol.

Thank Goodness!!! Another parent who cares!
At the start of the school year my cooperating teacher and myself made a point to get every parent's email address. We always sent reminder emails when tests were, a current homework schedule, and noteworthy behavior of students (good or bad). And even though I was the student teacher, I made my email address known to parents--hence, parents had two points of contact. So even with a full courseload and a wedding to plan, I always made time to respond to parent emails. It drives me insane that so many (not all) teachers close that door of communication!!!!!!!
On another note, with my broke self... if your son's school was hiring and I lived near you..... I would gladly take his teacher's spot. LOL

Chagrin Valley
So, package day is every PJ's Christmas morning. I was so excited to find that I got yet another package in the mail today. But when I picked it up in the office of my apartment, I could already tell it was going to be a problem. I could smell, a smell, coming even through the package. And I felt my nose begin to tingle. A sneeze was brewing up from the inside. What on earth could it be? So, I ordered lots of sample products from Chagrin Valley since I'd heard the rave about them. I ordered the following soaps: Honey Butter, Goat Milk and Oatmeal, Chocolate Almond, and the Castile Candunela. I ordered Whipped Cocoa Butter, Hemp Lotion Bar, Three Butter Lotion Bar, and the Java Lip Balm. All of which may be fine. But then... I ordered... the EVIL Ayurvedic Shampoo Bar. What on earth was I thinking??? That was the culprit of the smell. Now you know how I feel about smells. I mean, it stinks to high heaven. And I have allergies. It's completely intolerable. What's even worse is that ALL OF THE REST OF THE PRODUCTS have taken on it's smell as well!!! I am terribly disappointed. I was really looking forward to these samples. But I don't even know if I'm going to be able to use them. I removed the awful Ayurvedic bar and put in under the sink in my kitchen. I will be posting this is the product swap. If I don't hear from someone in a few days I'll just give it away. I don't even want it in my house! I'm gonna give the other things a few days to air out and see if the smell has gone away. If not, I may even have to see if they'll let me send them back or reorder. Aye aye aye.

Thanks everyone for your concern. I won't get my computer back till the end of the week. :-(
In hair news, someone told me yesterday that I have "good hair". I was thinking to myself "Me? You can't mean me? Like have you seen... Nevermind" I was too shocked to even come up with a reply. And this comment was from another natural. I just changed the subject and moved on. I do have good hair because it's healthy. But the good hair she's talking about... well... i guess it's a matter of opinion. When I was relaxed I was called all kinds of nappy. I don't know whether to feel good about the comment or not? What ya'll think?
