Re: Steamers, dryers?
@Curlymo. Yes that's a great price from salonrus. I got mine a long time ago before they decreased the price on them, I love it just the same though. I think $9 steam is cheap also because I've heard of people paying an extra $25 for steam treatment.

Re: Steamers, dryers?
after reading all of these posts i want a steamer now, lol
but i also have a lot of things on my list to try as well. I want to get a hand dryer with a diffuser attachment to dry my hair on days that I don't feel like waiting. I am so done with the over hood dryers, no patience.
I also want to try that heated cap I've seen on other sites (naturallycurly) for my deep conditioning treatments. Has anyone tried using the heated cap or a hand dryer with diffuser?

@tiashauntee, I read the whole thread hoping you would report back on the "steamer" you built. Please share whether the bonnet and clothes steamer worked. I'm so curious!!!!!

I haven't had a chance to do it yet. I don't have to work tomorrow (YIPPEE) so I will do it tonight just so that I can report back. Thanks for staying on top of me, LOL. I need it
Re: Steamers, dryers?
Oookkkkaaayyy, what had happen was.....
I looked at my clothes steamer and at my bonnet dryer...both of them have hoses that will not detach at the end I need to connect them together. So it's back to the drawing board. Since both of them work just find I didn't want to tear them apart.
When I warms up some I am going to dig around in the garage to see if we have an extra hose out there that would work. I would just go buy one but I am on my 21 day financial fast and I am sticking to it

Re: Steamers, dryers?
I steamed last night for the first time in a couple of months and forgot how much I LOVE it, too!
I usually do things in an over-the-top manner, so after I steam, I put a plastic baggy over my hair with the DC still in it and sleep with it on! I'm always trying to get the maximum benefit! Well, today, my hair is big and soft and curly! YAY!
My plan is to steam once a month, right after I apply my DC after rinsing my monthly henna treatment from my hair.

Thank You, CurlyMo!!! [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
When I first purchased my steamer, I steam EVERY Friday night for about 8 weeks straight. After that, I started steaming every other week, and now it's down to once per month. My hair is very moisturized nowadays, so I just need a steam session once per month.

Re: Steamers, dryers?
LOL! I've GOT to update my avatar! I plan to do so around Feb. 1st when my 30-day no-comb challenge ends. The last time it ended, I did a "blow-out" with no heat (the laydown method by holyghostcarrier on YouTube) and my 'fro was "Downtown Julie Brown"! I'll end this one with a "blow-out" again, take a pic, and upload it as my avatar to show off my outrageous 'fro.

Re: Steamers, dryers?
Now y'all have me wanting one! I looked up steamers and saw this YouTube video from fabohair.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VKVxCrnGdcQ&feature=related
Is her method a fair approximation of the steam treatment you'd get from the pricer models?
Thanks!

Re: Steamers, dryers?
I'm about to be a college freshman and I decided to treat myself (and my hair) to one hair appliance. I'm torn between a hair dryer and a steamer. Do you ladies have any suggestions on which one I should get?
The steamer sounds amazing but 100% dry hair in the morning would be nice too...

For you i'd probably suggest the dryer ONLY because like you said your a college student and although the steamer is great for hair, you'll be able to do more with your normal dryer ..with the dryer you can do actual styles and still deep condition by sitting under your dryer for a good 10 minutes ..get what i'm saying? Its more practical for you probably since your a college student
