I really love this thread It has me thinking about what I really need to do to keep Shamekia healthy
1. Moisturize moisturize moisturize
2. Try to get a routine
3. Figure out detangling
4. Retain length by my anniversary (April 2011)
5. Learn new styles for my hair
6. Document more on my hair (likes&dislikes)
7. Use the products that I have before buying more
8. Find out what my hair like & dislikes (products)
9. Have healthy, longer, thicker hair for the 2011 year dance

I plan to keep 'Ingrid' healthy by sticking to my simple routine.

I do plan to purchase KCCC products (this will be my first hair product splurge since BC). I'm so thankful that other curlies don't mind sharing their products- I get to try before I buy!

Get my first trim.

Be brave and try new hairstyles as Ingrid grows.

-Stop going long periods of time without spritzing my hair
(thats the main one)

-learn how to cornrow my own hair (its easy for me to cornrow on other people's heads, just not my own)

-get my hair back to the length it was before I cut it, while avoiding THINNING ENDS! (ANY ADVICE ON THAT WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED!)

these are pretty realistic goals, i just need to be more consistent with moisturizing mainly

1. Continue to maintain healthy hair.....moisturize, moisturize, moisturize
2. Limit product purchases....stick to what's working so far and use up what I already have
3. Continue 'listening' to my hair and learning more of what it needs based on the climate, its likes/dislikes, etc

1. continue to keep it simple;

2. continue to remind myself that it is not product but process, this will prevent me from jumping on OMG product reviews;

3. continue to share this site where awesome women post;

4. continue to add a Steamer Treatment to my regimen

2011 Hair Resolutions - Page 2 Empty Re: 2011 Hair Resolutions

Post by moonchild 27th December 2010, 5:56 pm

I've really been thinking hard about this and I'm trying to narrow it down to the top three:

1. When curly: don't let more than 3 days go by without some type of moisture hitting my head; when straight: no more than a week without washing

2. Twist, pin curl or otherwise wrap up EVERY night

3. Don't get frustrated when trying out a new style. I worry so much about pulling out my hair or whatnot that if I try a new style and it doesn't work, I give up. I know I could master some cute styles if I'd be more patient with myself (this applies to life generally!).

I'm sure there's more, but if I stick to those 3, I think I'll reach my goal of SL (all over) by July

1. No new product purchases; only purchase staples when they run out
2. Put no tension on my edges and use an essential oil mixture to help them grow
3. Stay in protective styles most of the time
4. Be gentler when detangling
5. Learn to braid with weave

1. Get my regimen down
2. Buy a dryer, for my DC and sets
3. Bun more often
4. Find a good moisturizer
5. Maybe BC by my bday month, which is march, or February which would be my first year transistioning.
6. Try senegalese twist in the summer, I failed the first time.
7. attempt the Twist n Curl in the spring

This is great. Maybe we can check thin at the end of next year and see how everyone did?
My goals are...
-Healthy hair
-Growth to chin length (Hopefully by the end of 2011!)
-retain moisture
-find a protective style that I like and can maintain
-learn to cornrow my hair or find the patience to have it done by a professional.

Smile

hmm...
1.) I want to leave protective styles in until spring [of course getting my kinky twist redone when it’s needed] LOL
2.) To reach 6-8 inches by my one year anniversary =D
3.) To continue loving my hair even if the others surrounding me don’t see the true beauty in it. Very Happy

1. stop asking/worrying about/guessing what/fretting over what others are using in their hair and why it isn't working for me, and learn my own head.

1. Moisturize my hair more throughout the day
2. Find my hair regimen
3. DC once a week
4. Don't become a PJ. I am already on the path so I am trying to turn back.
5. Find out what my hair loves and hate by keeping track of what I use and how often
6. Learn new styles. I believe i have enough growth to stop going for the Wash & Go all the time

This is great. I hope to keep this in the forefront to reference as the year goes on.

I totally forgot one...exercising on a regular basis. I definitely believe that this helps promote hair growth!

My goals are to:
1) Continue taking vitamins, drinking water, and keep myself focused on eating a healthy diet. Healthy hair growth begins on the inside.
2) Learn to cornrow and/or flat twist
3) Not get too stressed out over things outside of my control. Stress is hell on my hair.
4) Continue to moisturize my hair and refuse all abusive methods/products/hairstyles.

My big goal is to pull my hair into a ponytail at my 1 year naturalversary in July. I think I can do it. Very Happy My hair has grown tremendously. My hair is huge when I wash and style it, but after a couple of hours it shrinks back into the length of my profile pic.

Control Pjism
DC more often
Find a reasonable regimen to stick to
Brush my hair less (hairstylist says it's damaging my hair, especially around edges)
Wear my hair down more (hairstylist says pinning it up is damaging my hair)
Wear more natural styles and only straighten my hair like when I trim my ends (goal is to apply less heat)

I love your idea to keep track of what use and how often. This is a great thing to do to control my PJism
