What are your hair related plans for the upcoming year?
Here are mine:
- Get my PJism back under control
- Learn how to cornrow
- Reach full APL stretched by my 2nd natural-versary
- start making YT videos...I think
A few more:
- Use my comb less
- Apply JBCO to my edges at least 2-3 times a week

Re: 2011 Hair Resolutions
great post Lynn!!
*keep my hair healthy
*try some at least one of these treatments I keep reading about
I mean I don't have much to strive for because length is not my goal. As long as I can maintain Sasha's health I am good!

Re: 2011 Hair Resolutions
Hey Lynnieluve, sitting with this henna on my head is the start of my 2011 hair resolution. This is second time I'm doing it and will give it two months to see growth in density, less tangles, and smoothness . If not, then it's a trip around the corner to the chop shop .
I will no longer cut tangles out of my due to my lack of patience and total frustration.
I will remember to wash my hair more often especially in the winter months.
I will experiment with more natural tonics, etc. Although, I have over $200.00 worth of products under my kitchen & bathroom sink that I must use or give away. I need an extra job to buy all this hair stuff.
I will not od on all the information on this site.
I want to love, appreciate, understand, and respect the kinks, rolls, frizz, shrinkage, and multi textures that God has given me.
However, I will fight grays, and discipline uncooperative locs wiith the scissors.

Re: 2011 Hair Resolutions
*new girl on the block*..lol
1 - MORE GROWTH
2 - Find a great regimen for my hair. I'm so inconsistant
3 - Wear more natural styles.
I've been completely natural for two years and I have NOT been taking care of my hair in the manner it which I should. I just started wearing it out this past summer - I was so scared at first, but after day 2.. I embraced it. I've been out of work for the past 5 months and I went on interviews with my natural hair (pulled back in a nice professional puff) and no one hired me. I caved in and straightened my hair, the first interview I went on after I straightened my hair, I got the job. I cried after I straightened my hair because I felt like I was giving in. So, now I've been wearing my hair straight for about 3 weeks - only touching up twice. I have been thinking of wearing it straight until my 90 days are up and then bringing out my natural curls. I'm a little apprehensive about doing that because I don't want to damage my hair and unable to get my curl back..aarg - what is a girl to do!?!?!?!?

I second those emotions! Lol, I've been a PJ as long as I have been doing my own hair, so that's gonna be extra hard.
I also wish to become more consistent once I figure out my routine
Try to wear more protective styles
Be more proactive in fighting my HIH
Keep my hair moisturized and my scalp protected
Retain as much length as possible
That about covers it...

Re: 2011 Hair Resolutions
~Control my PJism by finding the right combinations amongst the plethora of products I already have!
~Reach past SL by the end of the year throughout the majority of my hair by wearing more protective styles
~Perfect my wash-n-gos by summer (hopefully this won't make me go against my first resolution!)

Re: 2011 Hair Resolutions
Good question Lynn.
1. Stop bashing the hair steamer and give it another chance. lol
2. Commit to taking hair and skin vitamins.
3. Learn new protective styles and ways to style my hair when its out.
4. Continue to keep my pjism under control.
5. When my scalp itches pat instead of scratching.

Re: 2011 Hair Resolutions
Goals:
--Keep it simple. Even if I get a full time job, that doesn't mean I can buy TONS of stuff. LOL
--Get to BSL! I expect to be there by summer
--Learn how to cornrow as well, since I've given up perfecting the three strand twist.

Yes! make videos! I might do that too. But besides that:
- continue with styling my hair creatively
- retain length, maybe be BSL by the end of 2011
- continue to help my childhood friend transition and style her hair
Re: 2011 Hair Resolutions
Wow Lynnie!!!! What a response to this thread!!!!!
Ok So I guess my New Year Goals would be: (and really I have been working on this already)
- keeping my hair moisturized
- good growth - I want to see if I can get to BSL by beginning of summer maybe?
- I want to get my thickness back as well. That shedding/breakage is for the birds!!!!!
- learn how to corn row my OWN hair -- it comes out so bad when I try it on myself!! I can do my daughters' heads but not my own!!!! I hate that!!
- keep my hair in some kind of PS most of the time. At least during the winter months. I like to wear it in WnG styles when it's warm/hot outside, but will still try to do SOME PS Styles then too.
- and over all just maintain healthy hair.
---healthier, thicker, longer---

Re: 2011 Hair Resolutions
1. Protective styles: two-strand twists Monday through Friday; twistouts on the weekends (unless I get over my fear and get kinky twists)
2. Shampoo, moisturize, and deep condition my hair more consistently. I'm fine on co-washing, but everything else I really need to step my game up on, and I think I need to start using a butter-based moisturizer.
My ultimate goal is to be able to hold a real "ponypuff" by my 1st naturalversary (8/13/11).
We can do it!
