Hello Ladies.

I'm sooo interested in joining this challenge. Like some of the other ladies here, I've always been told that I, "carry my weight well". I must admit, I did take solace in the fact that people couldn't tell how much overweight I was. That is, until I got a very rude awakening last year in the form of DIABETES. Yep! At 31 years old & with no family history. I was devastated! For a while I was paralyzed with fear. A few months later, I found out I was pregnant (after I had my tubes tied in 2008). So, needless to say, I've been on an emotional roller coaster for the past year. With everything said, I ready to get myself 2gether. I have to b/c my life (& the welfare of my babies) depends on it.

Hey BentNotBroken. Welcome to the group!!!! It's unfortunate that you were diagnosed w/Diabetes but it's possible (depending on which type you have) that you can change things, right? I have heard a lot of cases where diabetics get healthy from better eating and exercise habits, and no longer need to take their meds for it which is awesome. Hope that will be the case with you.

Ok, so ladies, from last week I am up 1 lb but it's all good. I am still losing inches. I'm at 188.8 as pf this morning. My waist is down 1/4" from last week at 37" Hips down an inch at 43 both thighs at 26, bust STILL at 44 and arms are down 1/2 inch at 13.5ish each. So in total, I am down about 19.75" from my whole body.

Oh, and I got my Zumba in the mail yesterday FINALLY!!! I can't wait to use it tomorrow morning!!! YAY!!!!

OH, AND!!!!....... I tried on some really hot, cute strapless dresses I had gotten from a friends swap night a few months ago and none of the stuff I got fit then, but NOW they do!!!! Some of them I still need to lose maybe 10 more lbs or so for them to actually zip up but I am gettin there!!! One dress is really cute from Ann Taylor. The girl bought it because it was only $4.88 but it wasn't even her size!!!! LOL Still has the tags on it!!! $80 dress!!! Good deal. even better for me cuz it was FREE.99!!!! LOL

Ok, anyway, where's everyone else posts??? And where the heck has Mandi been??????? Hope all is ok.

Thanx misskris. I c u live in Atlanta. I'm about 15 miles southwest of Atlanta. I have type 2 diabetes, so yes, it is reversible. I'm making some changes in my eating & exercise regimen. So those things coupled with prayer will bring about a change...I'm sure of it. Oh, I forgot to post my stats. So here goes:

Weight: 207.5
Height: 5'7
Goal wt: 160
Pounds to lose: 47.5

Oh guys, Phat Chicks have several holiday weight challenges going on right now. The closest one is the Easter challenge. If your interested in joining in on some of those, google Phat Chicks weight challenges.

Hello ladies! How is everyone? I have started to work out more and I am trying to eat better. When i weighed myself last week, I was 170. Haven't done it for this week yet.(need to do it tonight) We got the Kinect for the xbox 360 and I have been using that. I'm hoping to step up my exercises this week(incorporate some running/jogging and more toning stuff). Oh, I also wanted to comment that you ladies are so motivating and encouraging! Razz

Hello Ladies,

I thought, what better place to combine my love for all thing natural hair and my dsire to be healthier. I have a problem in that I'm a Nigerian who LOVES to eat NIgerian food. The problem you ask, well it is CARB LADEN. I mean, pretty much all the staples is some sort of starch or another. Also, since pretty much all the ingredients are not local, there's no counting points nor calories. I just don't know how many calories is in what. Hence, my battle with my weight. I don't neccessarily fell like I have to loose a ton, I just want that general feeling of wellbeing you get from being healthier.

I am rambling, here are my stats:

Weight:187
Height: 5'6"
Waist: 37

Workout:

C25K (30 mins * 3days/wk) Week3
Strength/core classes (45 mins * 2 days/wk)
This would be great for me I know from seeing all the post from all you fab ladies!

Hey Ladies. It's been a few days since I posted. I have lost a few more pounds and updated my ticker to show that. YAY!!! I am getting closer and closer to my initial goal of 170. 160 is my ultimate goal. I have been able to stay motivated and not worry too much about losing so much too fast. I have plenty of time to lose and I need not rush things. None of use need to rush things. Staying healthy is the main objective, right? But looking cute in these strapless dresses that were given to me are a good reason too!!!! LOL I have quite a few motivational items of clothing that I leave hanging in plain site in my closet. The dresses (one is strapless, one is spaghetti straps) ALMOST fit. Can't quite zip em up all they way yet. But I know that by the time my anniversary (July 27) gets here (and family reunion, Aug 4-7) I will be in em. THAT is my goal. I know the numbers should matter so much but to me they do. But the way my clothes look on me matter too. I have NEVER owned a bikini. Not sure I ever will either. I would most likely need som nipping and tucking after I lose all the weight. That excess skin won't look sexy in a 2-piece!!!! hahahaha!!! I DO have some TANKinis though. For now that's just fine with me!!

Anyway, hope you all are succeeding. run

I wasn't working out like I should because I didn't have a parking decal and got tickets on campus so I finally decided to buy one. I felt so free being able to park on campus without getting a ticket lol So have worked out everyday this week. I have a fitness friend and we record what we ate and drank to each other. We measured ourselves Monday and mine were:
Current weight: 166.5
Goal weight for March: 153
Chest:40.25
Arm:12.75
Waist:37
Hips:42.24
Thighs:24
I am doing a no carb diet, and no processed foods. I love pasta and bread so I'm challenging myself just to see if I can do it and how much I will loose in the first month. I will let u know in two weeks how much I loose. I have been going hard in the gym so we will see.

Seeing your measurements made me go DUH!!! I forgot to post my own measurements!!!! LOL

I measured on Sunday and weigh less now!! So then I was 188.8. Today I weighed in after my workout at 184.4. But that's after having done my morning workout and using the bathroom a few times too, since Sunday!!! LOL
Waist - 37" (-6.75")
Hips - 43" (-1....i never had hips anyway so there's not much to lose on them LOL)
Thighs - each 26" (-3")
Bust - 44" (-3")
Arms - each around 13.5" (-6")
So since 1/1/11 I have lost a total of 23.5 lbs and 19.75 inches!!! It's coming off!!! YAY!!!! 25 lbs to go!!!!!!!!

WOW!!! NObody has posted on here since my last post on the 3rd????? What's the problem?????? LOL

Ok.... So i am a couple days late posting (but where's everyone else???) my weight. So Sunday I did measure and weigh but I would always forget to bring the piece of paper back downstairs with me to post it on here, So NOW I remembered and wasn't too lazy to go back upstairs to get it!! LOL

Last week I weighed in at 188.8 and lost a total of 19.75". The day I posted I was down to about 184.4. This past Sunday when I weighed I was the same 184.4. This morning I weighed and I was STILL 184.8. After my Zumba workout I was 182.4!!! BUT I have lost inches still. Sunday I was down to....
Waist - 36.5 (-7.25 total)
Hips - 42.5 (-1.5 total)
Thighs - 26 both (-3 total)
Bust - 43 (-4 total)
Arms - 13 1/4 both (-6.5 total)
So TOTAL BODY loss is 22.25" and 23.7 lbs just using the 184.8 from this morning.
So I hope to get under or AT 180 by this coming Sunday. But my stupid Aunt Flow is due soon so we'll see. Hope you guys will post your progress!!!! Very Happy

Starting Weight: 172
Current Weight: 169

I didn't weigh in on Sunday, had my mother in law in town and had been pretty bad in the food department. But this morning was not so bad, 141.4. I'm pretty sure that is a loss, I was 142.something last week, I need to go back and check. I am getting back on track with workouts, worked hard yesterday and I am about to head to the gym for zumba. I never go during the day when I am at home with my daughter, and I decided I need to start doing it more.

HELLOOOOOOOOOO!!!! Where is everyone????? 4 whole days since anyone has posted!!! LOL Ok so I'll be the 1st again!! LOL

So since last week I have lost only 1.6 lbs (182.Cool, but I guess that's better than nothing. Howevere, I ahve consistently losing inches. From last Sunday I lost 1/2" in my waist but everything else is about the same. The waist is the most important to me anyway so it's cool.


***BREAKING NEWS***
I went to Ross the other day and saw this dress on clearance for $6.49 but it was a size 8. EIGHT!!!! And a size 8 has never existed in my closet but I was like, oh what the heck, let me go try it on!!! Now granted, this was a dress that had some stretch to it. BUT.... it FIT!!! I still need to lose a little more but I know that by the time I lose maybe 10 more lbs which is my 1st goal it will look great. you know how when you suck it all in things look awesome on you?? LOL that's how this was. But I was able to zip it up. If I were like some folks I'd wear it now but I have to do some more work!! lol And it's more for Fall/Winter. Just wanted to share. A 10 is the smallest I have ever gotten into so I am geeked about this one!! dance


So anyway, a total of 22.5" and 25.7 lbs lost. And really if I go way back to when I first started trying to lose weight in Oct. '09 (including the times I fell off the wagon, all that yo-yoing) I have lost 40.1 lbs!!!!! WOOHOO!!!! YAY ME!!!! woot!

How has everyone else done??

Nobody on but me since CourtRhapsody since the 9th!!!! Well I did my Zumba this morning and feeling good! But I also feel like I need a good back massagse from the arms/back work I did at the gym on Saturday. Guess I'll have to put my hubby to work!! LOL

I was 141.6 this morning, up .2. I seem to be hovering around the same weight again, I had a goal to get below 140 by April 1, wondering now if I can actually get there. I'll keep on trucking. Congrats on your accomplishments MissKris! I tried on some spring dresses in the back of my closet recently and it was so nice to get back into a smaller size. They were things I haven't worn since before I had my daughter, it was like getting new clothes!
