HELP FALL IS COMING!!!
ok so winter months are coming and walking outside with a wet head from wash n go's is not going to work...i am only 2 months post BC (only transition for 2months) so my hair isn't long enough for twist out, braids out, and twist..
so my question is how am I suppose to style and protect my TWA in the winter months???..Ive been rocking a defined TWA throughout the summer, and apply my KCCC on wet hair in the mornings because applying it at night makes no sense because all my curls are mushed to my head like a FADE..will i have to just start rocking a undefined fro now???

Re: HELP FALL IS COMING!!!
Hey Rayray,
When I was wearing a twa I wore an undefined fro in the colder months because I could not go out with wet hair. Sometimes I would co-wash at night and apply a leave-in and just apply coconut oil to my hair in the mornings.

I wa going to suggest what KC said. It is cold now in chicago and I dare not go outside with a wet head. I make styling my hair the first thing I do in the morning. I use my water bottle to spritz so that it has some moisture, by the time I finish everything my hair is 95% dry.

Have you tried coils yet? You can do coils on just about any length hair.

I would twist my hair with my conditioner and seal with my shea mixture. I happen to like the some say crazy or buckwheat look. I would untwist, separate the hair if needed then pick up the roots. This would allow me to stretch my short hair. At night I would re-twist.

Re: HELP FALL IS COMING!!!
I've been thinking the same thing!!! Looks like coils are twists are going to be my style for a while. My hair is actually long enough for twists. The coils worked when my hair was shorter though. Try them and see what you think! I've had my hair twisted since Saturday and it looks like it will last til tomorrow, when I wear it a twist out. Not sure about Friday yet. LOL!
Re: HELP FALL IS COMING!!!
I still have a TWA as well I have worn the coils but hair not long enough to do anything else so I guess I will go bac to the coils
What is a undefined fro?

Re: HELP FALL IS COMING!!!
The ladies are right. Coils would be cool. Moisture is key in the cold season
Re: HELP FALL IS COMING!!!
I think once you try it you'll like it. Here's what my hair looked like with an undefined fro. I just moisturized and twirled my hair around my fingers.

That is a really cute pic. What products did you use? It looks very moist..:Eden:. wrote:I think once you try it you'll like it. Here's what my hair looked like with an undefined fro. I just moisturized and twirled my hair around my fingers.
What has worked for me is to put in a mositurizing conditioner/coconut oil for sealing and putting a baggy under my satin bonnet. In the morning I'll take a shower and let the steam loosen it, and then work my fingers through and lift at the roots with my pick. It's usually pretty moist by then. Re: HELP FALL IS COMING!!!
i was sooo going to ask the same question. we bc'd the same time and for the past 2months my hair has been GROWING!!! i never got into using gels and have always worn my twa undefined (i use regular conditioner as a leave-in it curls my hair like crazy) but it is cold so wash n go is a no go. i have been wanting to try samy products (walgreens) they have a lightweight curl creme. i dont really like coils and my hair isnt long enough to twist so we'll see what the samy does.

I honestly don't remember. It was almost a year ago, and I was still experimenting with hair products. However, I'm using Shea Moisture Shea Butter Leave In Conditioner and sealing with shea butter. My hair is greedy for moisture and this does it better than anything I've tried. Hope that helps.
Re: HELP FALL IS COMING!!!
The pic is jus a couple of days or a wk after I BC I still had some permed ends in my hair then
I have tried the baggie technique but it really doesnt work that well for me my hair feels soft but it still feels dry
I guess it is a process of trial & error
If anyone has anyother suggestions pls let me know

Re: HELP FALL IS COMING!!!
Lately I've been spritzing with water lightly, and then adding a leave in and oil. After that I pick/comb it out all over until its even and put on a headband or add a flower and go. Its hard to get used to after defining your curls so often, but it does save time and keeps you from going out with a wet head.
Re: HELP FALL IS COMING!!!
I would suggest using a water/conditioner/spray mix to "wake"up your curls in the morning instead of a wash-n-go. For those who do use KCCC or Eco-Styler Gel, you can most definitely use the gel at night bf you go to bed and in the morning use the spray mix to fluff up the curls...that is my routine everyday....I haven't wash-n-go for like almost two-three months; I just use my spray mix everyday and if needed use KCCC to those areas that need a lil more definition; I just wash my and DC my hair once a week.
My Spray mix bottle - I use water, KKKT, Giovanni Leave-in Direct conditioner, and alternate these oils - aloe, avocado, rosemary, EVOO, &JBCO...to prevent break-outs, try not to use more than two oils at a time. And you don't have to use more than one conditioner, one is just fine and it can be any conditioner of ure choice. Hope this helps!

Re: HELP FALL IS COMING!!!
Coils saved me during the cold months. Cute and it's a great protective style for the TWA.
