Re: Life of a Curly GIRL :)
Ive been reading some of my fellow naturalistas journals and they refer to their hair by the names we gave them months ago and I just realized i havent been referring to my coif as Lola Falana as I coined her!! So, from this point on Lola will be getting her due justice....in case, some of my readers arent familiar with Lola Falana heres a pic of her

Good Morning Curlies!!!
So I have my work week bun in, I actually like this one better than mine from last week, and plus theres less pull on my edges with this one
this one is really manageable and lasts all week long....
Lola is doing well, but I plan on doing something uber cute with her this weekend, maybe try a wash n go, but those usually dont work well for me....
have a great work week ladies!!!

Good Morning Naturalistas!!!
I had an AWESOME weekend, and I played around with doing a braidout where i put in about 8 plaits in my head....i made a mix with water, sweet almond oil and giovanni direct leave in and i spritzed it on my dry hair...so this was my first braid out on dry hair and i actually like it better....
I think I really like big hair!!! Ive never really been a big hair fan but this braid out made me adore it..... I went to go see Sex and the City 2 FINALLY and I thought I should try and dress the part I loved the movie!! I think it was better than the first one!!
In other news, I ordered some more unrefined shea butter from eBay and I cant wait for it to get here because im on my last little bit of shea butter mix at the house....
I hope everyone has a great work week...HAPPY MONDAY!!!

Congrats on the award! That's great (don't know how I missed the post on Fri!), and I love your weekend hair! For some reason those glasses make me think of Willy Wonka (Johnny Depp's movie) when they were in the TV room. LOL!

Re: Life of a Curly GIRL :)
I just realized that my ten month natural hair mark is coming up in a few days....and im SURE the one year mark will sneak up on me just like this ten month mark has. I still cant believe the progress that ive been having with my natural hair. Transitioning for me was filled with joys and sorrows. I loved discovering this new coif of natural hair however there was an internal struggle of letting go of my relaxed hair. I was always the one getting the "your wrap is layed" and "your wrap is so pretty" comments that I was programmed to hearing them and appreciating them, when I stopped getting them and my other close friends got them it started playing with my self esteem. My transition was more than a hair transition period it was a time to transform and reflect myself internally as well. I learned alot about my hair but also about my resilience and strength as an individual. I have gotten comments about my natural hair, but as its grown ive noticed those natural hair pessimists turn into those "your hair looks nice, how did you do that?" commenters....
Im just blessed that Ive learned that I dont need validation through folks comments on my hair or how they may view me because of my hair.....

Re: Life of a Curly GIRL :)
Good morning Brownskindiva,
I can relate to the negative comments turning positive. I got a lot of crazy looks and comments like why did you do that when I bc'd. Now its your hair is growing and what do you do to your hair?
Its always going to be negative people out there you just have to learn to ignore them and keep it moving.
