Aloe Vera Gel - strong hold

Is there any way to make the hold of aloe vera gel (like FOTE) stronger? I want to use a more natural, affordable gel for my twists, and AVG would be perfect, but I'm afraid the hold might not be strong enough. I usually keep my twists in for 1-2 weeks, so how can I make AVG hold without just adding another, regular gel to it (because that would kind of defeat the purpose of me using the AVG in the first place)?

believe it or not, but I notice that glycerin does in a way.I think you should try this recipe and tell me what you think.

Aloe "Gel"

4 oz Aloe Vera Gel
1 oz Jojoba Oil
1 oz Glycerin (vegetable)
10 drops of Essential Oil for fragrance

Hm, I've never thought about using glycerin...I'd like to try this, but it sucks that I just finished off the bottle I had [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] How do you think agave nectar or honey would work, or castor oil?

not sure if those would work. when I used the aloe gel mix it gave me a bit of a hold. Never really used the other stuff.

I cannot use the glycerin. It makes my hair so soft that it will not stay twisted. I love the shine it gives though. I am still trying to figure out a way to use it.

The aloe vera gel will give it a little hold. the glycerin is a humectant that helps with holding the moisture from the aloe vera.

Hmmm never actually tried this, but to me this should give a little hold. Lotta body, glycerin, and the alovera gel. Try to maybe make a little mini gel with it. Or you can try lotta body, condish, aloe vera and glycerin. Try messing around with products. I have a home recipe of a miss jessies substitute, would you be interested?

I have been looking for a way to add more hold to aloe vera gel as well, but haven't been able to find anything...

I saw this recipe though, that I am DYING to try. The pictures look very promising...
