Aloe Vera Gel
I was cleaning out my cabinet in the bathroom and run across a bottle of organic Aloe Vera Gel. I am assuming I brought this with some natural hair goal in mind, but for the life of me, I can't figure out what!
So...what do you all use this for, as far as hair goes?

Re: Aloe Vera Gel
What is the expiration date on the bottle?
Also, tiashauntee has the aloe grow that she does - just do a search for that in youtube-
Chrslvsbks- is another one to ask
I mix mine with a conditionner and a oil and use for my twists.

Re: Aloe Vera Gel
I use it as I would any other gel. I basically use it on my edges, but sometimes I use it on fuzzy ends too.

What exactly do you do with it for your wash and go? Mix it with something? Or use it alone over a leave in?
Re: Aloe Vera Gel
You can put some essential oils in it and make a nice refreshing spritz for your hair

I don't mix it with anything. I separate my hair into 4 sections apply some fruit of the earth aloe vera gel, get it on all my strands by brushing it in with a Denman then scrunch and I'm out the door. It is imperative to not touch while drying since that can be hard for me I use a diffuser and blow dry a little bit. I love it cuz its not crunchy like regular gels and my hair stays soft and lasts long. I really don't know where to get any oils or anything like that (or what to do with them for that matter) so I have yet to try mixing things :-\

I add mine to my spritz of water and conditioner. I also use it to help lay my edges. You can add some to your moisturizer, DC and conditioner for extra moisture. I have read that some consider aloe vera gel a humectant--fyi.
Re: Aloe Vera Gel
Is there a specific brand of Aloe Vera gel that you ladies use? I went to Whole Foods and asked the lady if she could point me in the direction of the Aloe Vera Gel she said they don't sell it [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

Re: Aloe Vera Gel
I use the kind sold at Walmart & drug stores like Fruit of the Earth (usually by the suntan lotions) and I went to Whole Foods and got a bottle of Aloe Vera gel by 365 brand. It's by the aloe vera juice. To be specific, I asked for the AVG that you have to put in the fridge and the lady pointed me in the right direction.
Re: Aloe Vera Gel
AH HA! Thanks Jamaicacurl. I will look there next time I go.

I use an all natural kind that uses the plant as well (I noticed many have silicones and all other kinds of stuff..ewww!). The brand I use is Skin Gel Ultimate Skin Treatment 99% Certified Organic by Aloe Life. Since it uses the whole plant, it's brown, not clear like the plant gel only. I love it, I'll never use another brand!

Re: Aloe Vera Gel
about how much does aloe vera gel cost? I've been told to perhaps give it a try but I take a long time to try products because I'm so hesitant...
Re: Aloe Vera Gel
If you get the kind for skincare it's about $3. But if you get the kind that's more pure & has to be refrigerated it's more. I bought a 32oz bottle @ Whole Foods for $8 and change.
Re: Aloe Vera Gel

I'm no expert (dajewel is), but that trisodium sounds suspicious. Sodium is salt and there's three of them in it??!?!! Salt is what would dry out your hair...

Good Lord! For some reason, I wasn't getting updates when this thread was written in and I was thinking NO ONE cared about my little question! lol
Thanks ladies for all of your tips. I think I will try it with a Wash and Go and see, well, how it goes. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
