Re: Cantu SHea Butter..
As a alternative to Cantu Shea Butter I would say the best would be My Honey Child's Buttery Soy Cream.

Re: Cantu SHea Butter..
I just brought this product, mainly for my FI, but I used it for a twist out the other day and LOVED IT! It left my hair shiny and soft. I applied it on my hair after a leave-in.
My FI likes using it every day to moisturize.

I brought this product a day or two ago and started using it before I got my hair done in box braids. Do you advise me not using it at all and just getting a new leave-in conditioner?

As for the Cantu Shea Butter Leave In Conditioning Repair Cream: I tried it as a leave in- hated it. Tried it as an everyday moisturizer/ styler- hated it. Tried it as a deep condish- hated it. It just sat on top of my hair. I didnt do anything spectacular at all. I ended up really disappointed because I could have used that $5 to buy another deep condish. Its just sitting on my floor collecting dust. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

Re: Cantu SHea Butter..
I have read great reviews on cantu shea butter's styling results so I went to the local beauty supply store to check it out. I opened the jar and something about this product scares me. I don't know if it's the less than impressive ingredients or the possibility that I am just purchasing the new "pink oil moisturizing lotion" (a trendy hair product that turns out to be bad for your natural hair) . I don't know...but I "chickened out" of buying it. But I like the results I've seen on other people who've used it. . .

The main reason I stay away from it and products that contain mineral oil/petrolatum, silicones, and others is that it gives a false impression of moisturizing and softness. It coats the hair, that's why it feels so soft for some, but mineral oil and silicone wrap the hair like Saran Wrap so moisture can't reach it. My hair is bleached, so I can't afford to have anything blocking moisture.

Cantu is my favorite. It is the only thing I put in my hair.

Re: Cantu SHea Butter..
I agree with blondie. I think its false advertising really. I'm not sure it should be called shea butter. People who are newly natural or new to doing their own hair or just plain unaware people will think this is really shea butter when its not. The ingredients are definitely less than desirable to me since I started reading labels.
Do you ladies clarify at all after using this?
