That's great Butterfly!!! When I run out of my castor oil (which shouldn't be for a while cuz I got a big bottle) I may have to try that JBCO so I can see if there's really a difference. I hear some say there is and some say there's not. as far as what it can do. Look forward to your pics!!! Very Happy

Well, it's really cute Smile I've been reading so many positive things about henna, that I think I'm gonna save it as a treat for myself when i cut the last of the relaxed ends out of my hair whenever that is. What do you think about it? Do you love it?

Thanks! Smile Well, I don't really know what I feel about it yet. I have had it twisted all week and cornrowed. So I haven't really had it out yet. I have noticed thought that I have some scabbing!!!??? I don't know what that's about!! and i'm not even really sure it's scabbing cuz it looks more like oil build up, i guess from the castor oil?? I dunno. BUT, my hair DID seem extra sift and shiny when I took my twists down the other day. So that may be one of the effects from the henna.I am going to try do it again next month to see if I see any more differences.

Yeah, well, I've read that the postive effects of henna are cummulative so I guess you have to keep on henna-ing for a while to see a bigger difference. Speaking of possible buildup from castor oil...I wonder if I should wash (as opposed to co-wash) every week at least during this challenge since I'll be using castor oil so much scratch

Yeah, I definitely am using shampoo each week!!!! But I'll probably use the method where you just cleanse the scalp and not really the length of my hair. I saw something that said you should just let the soapy water run down the hair. The scalp is the dirtiest part and the soapy water will do a good enough job cleansing the strands. I was gonna try to go every 2 weeks to wash but my scalp can't do 2 weeks!!! LOL

Cool!! You know it's weird....as sticky as the castor oil feels going on, the next day my hair is SO soft!!! Have you noticed that on your hair??

Yeah, I have! The JBCO is just a little sticky and thick in my fingers, but when I put it on my hair it just softens and blends in my hair and makes it really soft. I've heard that regular castor oil is thicker than the JBCO so maybe that's why you feel it the next day.

I want to join! I will post pics tomorrow morning. I actually started using castor oil about 2 weeks ago. I hope it can save my poor edges from eternal thinness.

The second photo shows my right side/edge which is totally ruined. Out of desperation and lack of black stylists in N.M., I made the mistake of touching up a relaxer on my 3 month old colored hair. I lost about 30%-40% of hair overall. I BC'd 4 months ago.

NEW CASTOR OIL CHALLENGE - Page 2 Empty Re: NEW CASTOR OIL CHALLENGE

Post by Butterfly125 13th December 2010, 4:51 pm

Yeah, llcarr, the things we do to our hair, right? I was always told (by friends and pros alike) that you only have to wait 2 weeks to put a relaxer over a color and vice versa. I did just that one time, but couldn't find the relaxer for color-treated hair, and didn't want to drive around looking for it, and just couldn't wait a few more days confused so I just went ahead and put the regular relaxer in. In about a week I noticed that I could see my scalp through my bangs Mad I was so mad at myself. But that's when I decided enough is enough. That hair grew back, by the way. My edges are thin from braids...that's another story.

YAY!!! Welcome KSharee. Smile I just co-washed my hair and castor oiled my scalp. I am trying to correct this dryness that I think my hennad caused. My fault though because I added the lemon juice (like the directions said) but next time I sure won't do that!!!!
