Re: ........
I used her exact measurements (actually, had to make two batches b/c one wasn't enough) and products and used it straight out of the shower. My hair was clean and dripping wet when I put it in. I guess I was expecting my ends to feel different but they don't. Maybe I need a trim.

@ BP I only apply it once after I cowash my hair.
I may be ok, I used AV gel instead of juice.

Re: ........
I tried this recipe but used Fruit of the Earth aloe vera gel - you know the clear gel you can get from Wal-Mart and I used Shea Moisture Leave-In. I applied this to my hair after washing. When I took the twist out this morning, I was very pleased. My hair had good definition , hold and was moisturized. I have Lily of the Desert aloe vera juice and I will try that next time, along with the Shea Moisture leave-in and see what results I get.

Hmmm, not quite sure. I noticed immediate results on my entire head. I can't say I noticed my ends felt different but my hair, in general, was more moisturized. I guess some things don't work for some people. I tried honey in my deep treatment and it actually made my hair drier and more straw like to me and I know others swear by it.

Has anyone tried modyfing her method this way?:
Giovanni Direct Leave-in
Jojoba Oil
Castor Oil
and
Which is better Aloe Vera Juice or Gel?
Thanks
This is what I use and I've had amazing results! No more dry flaky scalp and my hair stays soft and moisturized for 3 or 4 days! (I usually wash after that long or spray my hair with water to get it damp, reapply leave in and then I'm good for another 3-4 days) I bought some Aloe Vera Gel by Lilly of the Desert (I think that's what she used in the video) but I've heard people using the juice and having good results. I do have some Fruit of the Earth Aloe Vera Gel but I haven't tried that in the mixture yet. The Lilly of the desert one is more of a thick liquid and the Fruit of the Earth is a firmer gel in my opinion.
Thanks so much! That's good to hear. I'm gonna try the Lily of the Desert Gel in my mixture.

Is there a difference in using the Whole Leaf vs. the Inner Filet Aloe Vera Juice?

Re: ........
I don't use the whole bach in one application because my hair isn't very long. So I use about a quarter sized amount in my hair. If I use more than my hair is white. So I would say it just depends on how much hair you have.

I actually doubled the batch b/c one wasn't enough. It didn't leave my hair greasy though, my hair just sucked it up! I used it last night and applied it in sections and put my hair in plaits for a braid-out today. I also added more castor oil and ecostyler gel to each braid/section for hold. It came out pretty good too!naturalgirl wrote:naturalchic wrote:Ok so i tried the recipe last night and i must say im still super moisturized today... question though how do u all apply, in large portions of hair or in smaller pieces, im worried about having greasy hair

ok I split my head into 4 sections and placed some on each section and this came out good. I thought it would be greasy but it was not, Im gonna try and add ecostyler to it for some more hold and see if that helps.

How do ya'll feel about the smell? I don't like it! I usually am not picky about the smell of my hair products, but that aloe vera juice just makes the whole thing smell kind of sour to me. Is it just the brand I got (used the same one as Kimmaytube in her video) or does yours smell the same...like a sour/sweet smell?

Re: ........
I've never really paid attention to the smell. What about putting some essential oils in it to help with the smell?

When i used the aloe vera gel (natural one) it does have an odd smell, kinda like its sour?? I threw mine away cause i thought it was bad. I used the aloe vera gel that clear that u get at walmart it worked fine.

I just added ecostyler gel to give it some hold (for twist/braid outs).

did you add the gel to mixture or afterwards?

Re: ........
I added it afterwords, while twisting/braiding. It gave my twist out and braid out it hold, but it was still soft.

ok thanks I will try that....I think sometimes I feel like I need tons of product for my hair to work, I am slowly learning that less is more.BajanPrincess82 wrote:I added it afterwords, while twisting/braiding. It gave my twist out and braid out it hold, but it was still soft.

I wasn't feeling the kimmaytube mixture at first, but it has grown on me (except for the smell). My ends are feeling a little better.

No, it wouldn't. I've added tea tree and/or rosemary oil to the mix; it did nothing to change the pH at all and I still got the same results.
