First dry two-strand twist
I twisted my hair only once while it was dry and needless to say, it was a catastrophe. I wanted to try it again. I have always done my twists on soaking wet hair. If my hair dried a little bit while I was twisting it, I would get out the spray bottle and soak each section some more.
I was reading something that CN wrote the other day about how she puts her product in when her hair is slightly damp. I thought I would try it. I really do not have anything to lose so I washed and conditioned my hair. I put a little bit of EVOO on my hair to get it ready for the dry twist. While I was waiting for my hair to dry a little bit more, I starting thinking about what I expected of my hair when I finished. I wanted my hair to be soft, have hold, be shiney and have moisture in it. I was looking in my hair closet and I did not see any product like that. I picked up the eco-styler. Eco gives me great shine and hold but it leaves my hair hard. I picked up ol' faithful (Hawaiian Silky 14-n-1), HS gives me the shine and moisture but it only holds for about 2 days. I looked at my oils. The oils give the the shine and moisture but no hold.
I decided to mix three things together. Here is my recipe:
1/4 cup eco-styler
2 pumps Hawaiian Silky
1/2 tablespoon of Castor oil
I mixed them together and put a good amount on each each strand so that it was moist. Then just twisted it as normal. Here are the pictures. I love doing TST on dry hair now! It really does give you more length, though I still have shrinkage. Next time I will put 4 pumps of HS in the mix. My hair still has bounce and spring but it is a little hard. I love the results! I have 26 twists. I forgot to add that my roots are not puffy and I do not have any flyaways in the roots or on the strands! [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
This is the back of my head. I have to grab more hair to get a decent sized twist because my hair hair strands are thin.

I love your hair! I can't wait to get that length so that I can really twist my hair "properly".

Thank you! I think that shorter hair may be more fun though. You guys are doing those fro hawks and afros and other cool stuff. I am trying to change up the look but right now, hair my length seems to be boring. It is hard to find cool styles that I can actually do. You can only braid, flat-twist, two strand twist and bantu knot so much. I do not want to dye it.

WOW!! Your twists look great!!!
I mixed eco styler gel with castor, jojoba and grapeseed oil and that came out to nice mixture, but I might have to use your mix next time.

Thank you ladies for the kind words. I am still playing around with this mixture but I like the results so far. I did it again tonight and this time I put coconut oil one my hair first and then applied the mixture. This is pretty nice too?

That kinda sounds like my mix though I use shea butter. Yours sounds very moist though! I'll need to make up some when I get my hands on some eco.

Thank you ladies! I am back on my Amla kick now that my Indian store has it back in stock. It took them 6 months to get the Amla back in. My hair has never looked better. AMLA TO THE RESCUE!
