Okay, on the whipped shea butter. Do i just take regular old natural shea butter and add something to it to make it whipped? What are the ingrediants to a wonderful shea butter moisturizer ?

Ok ladies heres my whipped shea butter recipe:
5oz unrefined shea butter (I just did it by eye, half of my 10oz tub)
4 or 5 tbs coconut oil
1 tbs almond oil
1 tbs olive oil
1 tbs honey(optional)
12 drops tea tree oil
I put the all of the ingredients except the tea tree oil in a glass mixing bowl and sit it in boiling hot water just to soften the shea butter up a bit. I whip it all together for 10 minutes. After it was the consistency I wanted I whipped in the tea tree oil for another minute. I LOVE IT!!
Im pretty certain I got the measurements right but you just do what
looks right to you. That recipe made about 14 oz of whipped shea
butter. Almost triple the amount of shea butter I actually used so this
is definitely a plus. It'll last for a while. I put one in the
refrigerator and I have been using the other jar so its in the
bathroom.

I was interested in your topic because moms like to read about what is going on in the lives of other moms (mine are much older than your little one- 14, 9 & 7). While I did not experience shedding (I had the opposite, it seemed like my hair was growing all over the place). I have worked on the postpartum unit and this is common. You are definietly doing the right things. I see hair growth around your edges in your pics. Just wanted to say keep up the good work.
By the way your son is beautiful and home births rock! Also love your hair in the slide show.

Thanks so much HumanNature. I was so thrilled while I was pregnant because my hair was growing like crazy. What I didn't know was that it would shed so bad when my son hit the 2 month mark lol. Because my hair is so thick you can only tell around my edges but thats the worst place for it to be considering the hair around my edges has always been more fine than the rest. Anyway its definitely been a journey and I wouldn't trade the experience of being a mother for all the hair in the world. Thank you for the compliment on my little pumpkin. He's the best and YES HOMEBIRTHS DO ROCK!

Sorry I'm just getting to your message. I've been gone out of town since last Thursday. But yes, you can or should be able to find all of those things at Whole Foods or your local health food store

Re: AfrikanLatina ☥ It's A...
Today my hair is in the same blowout that I did for my aunts retirement this past Friday. I'll be returning to post pictures later. Mama is tired!
Re: AfrikanLatina ☥ It's A...
These are a few pictures from my aunts retirement party last Friday. I put heat on my hair for the 2nd time in over a year and a half and while I wasn't very happy with it after I was done it grew on me after I got dressed. I used my ceramic flat iron on the lowest setting. The products I used were Carols Daughter Hair Milk, my H2 leave in, and my whipped shea butter.
Me and my afrolicious aunt! I love her hair. We have been on this natural journey together.
Me, my mother, and my sister. My mother is natural also, she grew out her texturizer
Me and the love of my life
Us again.

Re: AfrikanLatina ☥ It's A...
Im getting the urge to do a henna gloss or a full blown henna treatment but I'm still recuperating from 4 days of family and traveling. Maybe tomorrow or at the latest Thursday. I have these , these , these and these and I haven't used any of them in a while but I think I'm ready to after seeing Mahogany curls recent video. I used to do rollersets when I was transitioning. While I was pregnant I would use the small yellow cold wave rods to do my fro hawk but have since retired them all to the bathroom cabinet when my shedding kicked in. Since I'm now recovering I though maybe its time to give them a shot.
I just ran upstairs in put two of the Goody's snap on rollers in my hair to see how it turns out. My hair is still stretched/straightened from last Fridays blow out. We'll see how these two curls come out since these were never my favorite rollers.

Y'all look good together. AfrikanLatina, he is holding onto you as if saying, "Yeah, try if you dare. This is my soulmate."
Re: AfrikanLatina ☥ It's A...
Hey Chica! Lovely Pics. I think your hair will do just fine with whatever roller you're going to use...

OMG I have gotten some good sleep today. The laundry still needs to be folded and my hair still needs to be loved so I should be able to get to both at some point today.
Thanks Chrs! He is my soulmate...we aren't legally married but he is my husband. Its in the works...we're not super traditional folks.
NMoultry...Thank you sis! I'm going to give them a go probably tomorrow if not tonight. I'll have to edit my last post because I was also inspired by your rollerset, not just Mahogany Curls

Re: AfrikanLatina ☥ It's A...
So more than 2 hours later(from my last post) I am still on Curly Nikkis forums! Mine son just fell asleep and that WAS my excuse for not henna'ing. Now I don't have one. I might do a full blow henna treatment tonight and sleep on it because I really dont feel like going through the whole process tonight. Lazy me lol
Re: AfrikanLatina ☥ It's A...
So I was lazy and didn't henna. I didn't even take it out the freezer lol so I don't know how I was expecting to do it anyway. Tomorrow its definitely getting done. I'm about to take it out the freezer now.
Re: AfrikanLatina ☥ It's A...
The henna is thawed out and I will be doing a henna gloss this afternoon. I have to go to the grocery store and take my pumpkin to a drs appointment and then its henna time!
Re: AfrikanLatina ☥ It's A...

Thank you. Did you experience postpartum shedding or are you just dealing with edges that are thinner than you'd like?
Re: AfrikanLatina ☥ It's A...
No im just dealing with thin hair i did a BC back in 2005 but i wasnt exactly kind to my hair i did alot of was and go so now its damaged but getting better. But i want it to be the way it used to be thick and strong. I learn everyday here in this CN community
