So I really love your hair at your aunts retirement party. It looks so soft. Your whole ensamble is beautiful. Your afolicious aunt is mos def on point. And you and your soul mate look lovely. How does your mom like being natural?
I cannot wait to try your whipped shea butter recipe, it seems simple and your hair looks very healthy.

Re: AfrikanLatina ☥ It's A...
Thank you HumanNature. My sister said it was super soft and took note of how much it has grown since February. I didn't like it initially but it grew on me through the night. LOL My aunts fro is so symmetrical it makes me sick. Mine is never shaped perfectly.
My mom enjoys the low maintenance aspect of being natural. She used to have below shoulder length hair before she put a curl (wave noveau) I believe in it way back when. It was never the same after she stopped using it .
Make sure you let me know how you like the whipped shea butter!

I have just finished hennaing. I thought I would be doing a henna gloss but I know that I'm not about to rinse this stuff out tonight. I'll probably be sleep in the next two hours. I also wasn't sure if Courtie mixed her henna with something in addition to conditioner and my henna was already mixed with my horsetail/chamomile/lemon balm infused water. So maybe next week I'll do a henna gloss. I did go ahead and add some Aussie Moist to the mix so we'll see how it comes out tomorrow!
Re: AfrikanLatina ☥ It's A...
Well adding a little conditioner definitely made for super soft hair when I rinsed it out. It also helped the smell a little although my hunny said it smelled like vomit lol.
My camera is charging so I didnt get a picture of what it looked like right after rinsing but I'll snap a pic of what it looks like after I rinse the deep conditoner out. I think I'm going to give the rollerset a try today

Re: AfrikanLatina ☥ It's A...
Soooo...I thought a rollerset was going to be poppin off tonight BUT that was a no go. After doing the back half of my head I remembered 1)how big my head is and 2)how long it takes to do a rollerset on a head as big as mine. LMBO! So I went for the old trusty flat twists! I'm meeting up with some of the lovely ladies in Durham tomorrow so I had to go for something that I knew would be dry in the morning also. I'm super excited since this will be my first natural meetup!

Yesterday wore me out so needless to say I will be in the house all day with my scarf on. I have a ladies night out planned for next Saturday and I want my hair to be soooo flyy. I have a friend coming down from Connecticut and one from Maryland with the rest being local(NC) and I am planning to have a ball. I dont get to see all my sistagirls that often so I can't wait!! Time to research some hair do's.
Re: AfrikanLatina ☥ It's A...
Go on, girl! Hair looks great, nice and shiny!
I like that flat twist out. I am still challenged with flat twists, but I am going to learn.

^^^I agree your flat twists could be worn out. They are neat.
I see a hint of red in one of the pictures. Is that from the henna?

Thanks chick. I think your wonderful henna gloss had something to do with it. I just LIKE my flat twist out at this point. I think once my edges are fully grown back in I'll LOVE it even more because I won't feel the need to wear a headband.

The hint of red is definitely from the henna. I don't really do it for the color but I don't mind it either. Thanks in regard to the flat twist. I shocked myself at how neat they came out since I can't see the back of my head. Some are better than others.

Re: AfrikanLatina ☥ It's A...
I think I'm going to cowash with the new conditioner I got from the product swap at our recent curly meetup. Its Herbal Essences Long Term Relationship. I'll be back with a product review later.

I've been watching your progression with your edges. I am also experiencing some shedding on my temples. I've been taking vitamins and using castor oil. I've seen some growth, but want more. I tried to go back through this thread to find the answer, but I wasn't able to. What type of henna do you use?

Re: AfrikanLatina ☥ It's A...
Sorry to hear about your edges but your already on track with the vitamins and castor oil. The type of henna I use is called Karishma Herbal Henna and I recently used Dulhan and thought it was pretty good. Both are readily available to me at my local Indian grocery store so that was really how I chose which brand I would use. I had done a post on the old Butters n Bars thread before they got deleted about the Karishma henna. I think I posted it somewhere else too so I'll see if I can find that for you. Have you henna'd before?
Re: AfrikanLatina ☥ It's A...
So I'm finally going to cowash tonight because my hair is a dry mess right now. I've been lazy these past couple of days but I have to get back on track so my hair doesn't get upset. Ugly weather gets me everytime...I have decided I'm going to start documenting(in a journal) what I do to my hair, when I do it, and what products I use and the results. Hopefully this is going to help me get a regimen that I can stick to and help me in my goal to get my big luscious fro to be uniform all the way around.
