This is not only happening to the relaxed sisters, but I've noticed this with natural on natural!!! I know its sad, but I've found certain naturals that have a problem empowering other naturals. I've meet two naturals like this so far. I'm glad that I don't need someone to validate me, but it hurts my heart when sisters get to such a place that we behave in such a manner.[/quote]
I feel you KHN! I hate that we treat each other that way anyway...no matter what the hair 'do! I mean, really, if we don't stand together, we can call it a day! But we are so divided by almost everything: weave/no weave/; light/dark; skinny/thick; married/single; gay/straight; and on and on! That's another reason I love this place...curlynikki.com...it's a positive place for sistas/women to come and just BE! :-)
Oh, I've tried to have a name for that other side of me; I really can't find one...so I just call her...HER! LOL When HER comes out...it's really not good. (Ask my computer...it met HER!) I'm really working to control HER...I want to let her out when necessary...not when I allowed you to drag her out...ya know? :-)
poeticlyspkng wrote:Hey Ryl, just caught up on your thread. Girl, the weavies will give you the once over and think nothing of it! I love that you were schooling the friends wife. That entire story was just awesome and powerful. You are so right, being natural is NOT for the faint of heart!
BTW- I wore my hair straight last night to a jazz club. I had it straightened because I wanted my ends trimmed and to do a length check. WELL- why did some natural heffa with a beautiful twist updo (which I was admiring) give ME the side eye and fake smile?? She had no idea I was actually admirning her hair. LOL! I don't discriminate when it comes to ladies with relaxers. I couldn't care less what they do to their hair but I have heard some permies express frustration with natural chicas looking down on them. I felt I got a taste of that AND it was kind of funny.

Hey Y'all! How goes it on this beautiful Saturday! I have plans today: DOING JACK ISH! :-)
Here are my pics...of this week's twist out...
Here's me with my Wash n Go...before it was GONE! LOL
That's about it! I've been really pleased with my hair lately. I've narrowed down the list products that work for me:
Olive, castor, and coconut oils
Honey
Shea butter
Hello Hydration
Yes to Cucumbers
Giovanni 50/50 Conditioner
Curls Lavish Moisturizer
Alba Leave-in Conditioner
Shea Moisture Conditioning Milk
Shea Moisture Moisture Mist
Care Free Curl Moisturizer
Henna
Water...LOL
All these in various combinations, work for me. I don't see me adding too much to it! If so, I might get Carol's Daughter's Hair Milk. I used it with my relaxed hair and I liked it...I want to see if it works for my coils. I'm kinda hesitant about buying any product liines...hell, it's so many to choose from. And so many great reviews. OK...if I need anything, I'd like to try somebody's moisturizer. So, ladies...give me suggestions on what you LOVE...what really works for you. Thanks in advance!
Have a wonderful weekend, y'all!

LOL...he never has a negative thing to say about my hair...he just rolls with it! Can't beat it with a bat!

Hey Ryl1,
Good luck with Zumba class. Hope you enjoy it. Great pics!
Lovin' The Man's response. Gotta love a REAL dude who'll just go with the flow and not get caught up being all superficial (it's only hair). It's only hair, it ain't (and I wrote it like that on purpose) that serious.

Hey Dva! How you doin? Yes, it is great to have a REAL dude on my team. I agree with you...but, among US, hair is a big issue. The more I walk around natural...the more I realize this...I guess I never had a reason to notice before, now it's just splatted in my face! LOLDvaAuNaturel wrote:Hey Ryl1,

Re: TheRYL1...Hey Y'all! ;-)
SisB...Cool!
Hey Ladies of the Curl! How goes it on this Monday morning? Hope all is well with each of you & yours!
So...yesterday afternoon, I was just sitting around, so I decided to do my hair (but, of course, right?).
I co-washed with the Curls Curladda (I think that's it) Conditioner (the Target one). I really liked it...it immediately "melted" my tangles and that made the comb-through very easy! As I let it sit for a few minutes...I tried to figure what the heck I was gonna do with my hair because I was feeling lazy, even though I started this hair session! So...you know what that meant: no twists. LOL
I considered a WnG, but y'all know how I'm feeling about that. I went digging in the cabinet and guess what I found? I had an 8 oz. jar of Kinky Curly Curling Custard! This was my first "natural" product purchase (along w/Knot Today). I tried it while transitioning...can you say F-A-I-L? So there it sat all this time. I decided to give it a shot...I could always wash it out, right?
After I rinsed the condish (which left my hair soft and moisturized), ALL I put on my hair was coconut oil...I just raked it through. I wondered should I use anything else, but I remembered how folks say KCCC doesn't "play well" with others. ;-)
I sectioned my hair and brought out the Denman! I raked and brushed the KCCC though each section and that was that! It took about 20 minutes.
I was pleased with it and couldn't wait to see it dry. The Man and I went visiting shortly afterwards...I wasn't worried, I just figured it would air dry while out and about! Right? WRONG! My hair was still WET in places when I was ready for bed! (But I think that was where I used the most product...in the crown, but still...7 HOURS...come on KCCC!)
I'll post pics tonight of it wet and today's results.
I say TODAY's results because it took FOREVER for my hair to dry! I mean forever...hell, it may be a little damp right now. LOL And I did my hair at 4 p.m. YESTERDAY! I would say that's my only complaint...the drying time.
Because it was kinda wet/damp when I went to sleep, I didn't know what to expect this morning. I considered sleeping cute like in the relaxed days, but said "Bump That, I'm natural" hahahahahaha.
This morning, I took off my bonnet and awoke to a WnG! WHAT THE HELL! LMAO But, I'm pleased anyway...my curls are defined and shiny...and no more "crunchy-ier" than when I use the EcoCustard. I have mad shrinkage, but it's all good! I just used the Curls Lavish Moisturizer, finger combed, and I was out!
I'll use KCCC again, but I'll start at like 6:30 a.m. or some such crazy azz hour if I want it completely dry!
Have a wonderful day, y'all!

Hey Ryl,
I've heard of some naturals doing there hair at night before bed for a wash n go and using KCCC to style. One of the reasons I never bought it was because I heard of how long it takes your hair to dry

Re: TheRYL1...Hey Y'all! ;-)
OK y'all...it just aint working for me tonight! The pictures are just not doing what I'm instructing...so...I'mma let it go!
A work story:
A co-worker is natural...she's been natural for a while. She wears a short afro. Anywho, another co-worker told me I need to give her some tips because she needs help (you know folks aint right)! LOL I said I aint (yep, I aint) helping her because...let's say we were in slavery times...she's the kinda negro that if we had an escape plan...she'd tell massa about it!
But, she's been checking out my hair, but never said anything...until last Friday. She wanted to know how I got my twists to twist like that (I take notes from the wonderful ladies at CN.com...but I wasn't sharing that with her...yeah, don't judge me...LMAO). So, I told her about Eco Custard and I took her a lil batch today. I talked about her bad, but the curly in me just had to help a sister in need! hahahahahahahahahahah
