Re: 8 Months Post Relaxer
I'm almost 8 months. I love my natural hair! These are all April photos.

This is the crown that I cut.
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
It's about 3 in stretched.
Middle is 5 inches stretched.
And sides are about 3-4 inches stretched.
And all of it only stretches to about an inch, but this was on wet hair. It may stretch more if it were dry with more shrinkage.

8 months post
I am 8 months post relaxer. I don't take alot of pictures of my hair or new growth cause it's like watching grass grow...(lol). I do notice however that everytime I wash my hair, my hair hangs longer than it did before. During this month, my transitioning hair has been cornrowed underneath a half wig. ( I normally take them down every two weeks and do my washing routine and put them right back in)
I have no complaints and honestly feel like I can do this for years. I am trying to replace alot of products that I have to order online with ones that I can buy locally (and cheaper). So that is what I will focus on for the next couple of months.
Good luck to you all!!!

Re: 8 Months Post Relaxer
Whats shaking my fellow transitioners? My last relaxer was Sept 6 ...i'm trying to hold out on the "big chop" and give my hair a break from from extensions but i'm not use to catering to my hair. My transition is truly a journey.

Re: 8 Months Post Relaxer
I am too a few days shy of being 8 months post. My transistion has not been too bad. If I am not wearing a wig or half wig, I cowash daily and let air dry and put into a damp bun. My fav products are HE Hello Hydration (cowash) Aloe Vera Gel and coconut oil.
At 4 months post I got a full head sew-in and kept in for about 8 weeks. My hair grew really well but I had a major set back because I did not thoroughly detangle before I washed my hair after I took the sew-in out and it got matted really bad...I got really fustrated and started cutting some of the knots out. Luckily I do have a lot of hair and it is thick so it was not noticable but for my next install in a few weeks I will let my stylist take my sew-in out and detangle and wash (I know I should have been patient and let her do it the first time, but my head was really itchy after 8 weeks). This time I am going to try the Halley's Curl weave (thanks Hamptonfest!) and leave it in for 8 weeks.
Other than that I dont mind the transition. I do not plan to BC until October (my 1 year anniversary) at the earliest and the latest would be next April.
Great job ladies for making it this far! HHJ to you all!

Re: 8 Months Post Relaxer
@Krys315 - I personally count a month as 4 weeks but I count the weeks from my last relaxer not 4 weeks counting at the date from Sept. 10 to Oct 10th may not be exactly 4 weeks on calendar.

To me, a month is from sept 10th to oct 10th. 4 weeks just means 4 weeks. If we went by 4 weeks, we'd be able to claim 12 months post (1 yr) at only 48 weeks but we know there are 52 weeks in a year. So I go by my ticker or just by weeks.

Re: 8 Months Post Relaxer
Been 8 months since my last relaxer and I'm really excited. This is the 3rd time I've transitioned and I promise this is the last time I'm doing it. I've decided this go around I'll wait a year or more before chopping.

Why does it feel like my hair is going suppppperrrr slow! I have not had a relaxer since oct or nov of last year...and feels like my hair is growing slow as molasses. Does anyone else feel like this?

Re: 8 Months Post Relaxer
@luvnmyroots I feel you! I haven't had a relaxer since December 09 and it still feels like my hair is so short even after all this time. I don't know whether to be discouraged or excited when I see shed hairs that range from having 4 to only 2 inches of new growth [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

Re: 8 Months Post Relaxer
The most frustrating thing about my transition is that my twist dont come out right. Since my ends are still permed they are realy straight compared to the top..and it takes everything in my power not 2get to mad about that. Also my afros dont look right since i stil do hav so much perm in my head.

@ciara89 Doing bantu knots on two-strand twists helps me achieve a nice curly fro. Maybe it'll work for you too!

Re: 8 Months Post Relaxer
Hello everybody, I am almost 9 months Natural come September.. I am super excited that i have lasted this long. I have always told myself i wanted to go natural and finally took the steps. When i reach about 14 month I am going for a big Cut & get rid of all the relaxed hair.
<<< My Avatar is a picture that i recently took showing off my natural state & so far I have been getting good feedback which makes me even more excited to continue going natural.. [img][You must be registered and logged in to see this image.][/img] This is also another/ but similar hair style i tried the previous day :-)
