postpartum workout plans
Anyone have some interesting postpartum workout advice to share and how you stay motivated?
Re: postpartum workout plans
Sis you read my mind. I'm already back to my pre baby weight but really want to tighten my tummy back up and tone my arms to get just a teeny bit of muscle definition. Is there anything in particular that you want to work on? Maybe we can be each others support and develop a routine.
Takes no time to make healthy food choices
Hi Ladies,
I have an 11week old. While I was on maternity leave, it was easy to get exercise. I'd take him out on walks for 60-90minutes everday. Since I returning to work, it's been harder to maintain a workout sched. BUT, I was able to go to the gym for 30mins of cardio yesterday and today so that felt great!
Even if you're unable to workout, you can eat right. Lots of whole grains, non-processed foods, etc.
Best wishes to everyone on the journey!

Re: postpartum workout plans
I would like to loose around 10 more pounds or so. But I actually lost a tons of weight already. My tummy is what I will be focusing on more so then anything...
I have been using some of Tracy Anderson isolated tummy movements you can find it on you tube. which has helped me a lot.
I think what stopped me from working out more then what I should be was my husbands schedule. It flipped us upside down. But I will be getting back on my plan just need to adjust my schedule. 30 mins a day can make a difference. I always watch what I eat since I was a little girl...SMH
Thanks ladies!

Hi Ladies! Both kids were up most of the night (which meant I was too), but I went to the gym again this morning. How are you doing today? Any good workout plans/tips?

I love Jillian Michael's 30 Day Shred. Very short, only 20 minutes, and an amazing work out.
I also love her other workouts, Banish Fat Boost Metabolism & No More Trouble Zones. However, those are close to 1 hour long.

I still haven't worked out but I'm trying to get a routine going. I'm so lazy in this department. lol and I know I have no excuse because I could easily get a workout in while my little one sleeps. I did see some capoeira inspired ab workouts on tv that I wanted to try. I'm looking into the Tracy Anderson workout right now.

P I L A T E S!! Hi girls... Pilates is a great workout for toning muscles and overall promotion of maximizing your core strength. After having a baby, most women's goal is to firm up those abdominals and Pilates will get you there. The best thing is that is you are pressed for time, there are still little things you can do everyday that measure up to be a lot in the end. Check out DVDs if you can't break away from the house. If you can get out, find a gym that offers mat classes as part of your membership. For example, I know Gold's Gym does. You'll enjoy the comaraderie and it's great for beginners.
All the best!

Re: postpartum workout plans
If you have trouble with motivation I always suggest just doing 25 jumping jacks and 25 crunches everyday. I know it doesn't sound like much, but the key is to find your motivation, soon you'll increase and move on to more but starting small is better than not starting at all. I'm a fitness junkie so I do everything. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] that's me when my daughter was 2 months old, all I'd done was speed walking. But that's my before pic for my 40 day challenge. (I'm very competitive with myself [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] )
Re: postpartum workout plans
Well damn Mykel...I think you just motivated me! Seriously...I can definitely achieve my goal in no time if I just take some action.

Ok, so I just had baby #2. I have a 2 yo & a 4 mth old now. With the 1st I did power walking & breastfed, lost the weight pretty easy. This time I'm e.x.h.a.u.s.t.e.d. Just when I get some motivation & start getting active, my little one doesn't sleep well & it's all down here from there. I just don't have the energy. My hubby works alot so walking or something at home is my best bet. I have lost some weight, but my goal is another 10 lbs!

Re: postpartum workout plans
Yay! AfrikanLatina, I love to motivate, I love fitness!
Thank you MsRenaissance! I know what you mean, I guess the breastfeeding worked for me too! I've been struggling to get back on a routine now that I'm back to work full time, but I've been steady 6 days a week for the past 3 weeks just pushing myself to wake up at 4am and turn the Taebo Extreme on. I put a full length mirror in the living room, and workout with a sports bra and boyshorts so I can further motivate myself to do the full 45mins whenever I look to the side and see the jiggle. My daughter is a sleeper though, so that helps ALOT! I have to wake her up when I'm done getting ready for work after my workout. I also eat VERY clean 90% of the time.

Re: postpartum workout plans
Congratulations mommies!
I may need to look to you all for some motivation this go round, this is actually the first time I have had problems getting motivated and staying motivated. I need to take off about 20 lbs really, baby's almost 6 months and 20 lbs gone 20 to go and it's been a ride. After baby number 6 (yes 6 lol) I just can't seem to keep myself motivated to lose the baby fat. Work and sleep schedules changed and flip flopped and it just isn't happening. Breastfeeding usually helps and this is probably the first time that I ever really had to 'work' to get it off...but thanks ladies, keep it going!!!

Re: postpartum workout plans
Butterqueen after 6 little ones I'd say you deserve to take a little time to get it off if you need to.
The weather has been nice here for the past few days so we went to the park and walked around the trail. I wore my son strapped to my chest for a good 15lb weight lol He's a chunky butt and while I already have good posture, wearing him and focusing on my core & posture helped quite a bit

Re: postpartum workout plans
Oooh yes I need the motivation too! I think about working out much more than I actually do it.
I was doing P90X for 2 months and that worked really well. I started seeing results after 2 weeks. However, after a vacation way back in April that went down the tube! Lately I've been doing ab workouts and such at home but not back to a consistent basis.
I also need things I can do at home because it is much more convenient. I think I will take Mykelmarie's advice on the 25 jumping jacks and crunches. It's a start! And I'm so jealous of her tummy lol!
Sometimes, on good days, when I'm just sitting around watching TV I make myself do some kind of exercise for the duration of commercials (sit ups, pushups, whatever).
I also need to eat more veggies.

Re: postpartum workout plans
ButterQueen, I agree with AfrikanLatina, and congrats on your 6th!
AfrikanLatina, I also walk with my Bunches strapped to me, and she's a 16lb weight, she's 10 days younger than your son and she is a chunkster!
Thank you JamaicaCurl! I'm a fitness fanatic and it's even been difficult for me at times to find the motivation post-Bunches. But the little things definitely make a big difference
