1. What gel did you use? Also, I find if I finger comb some oil in first, then appl y the gel my hair isn't so Capt'n Crunchy.... lol I need the gel--my hair isn't as thick and lucious as yours.... if not, just use the steam from the shower and spritz with water & condish the next day!
2. Um, can a curly get some spring???!!!!!
3. Sooooo am I! I'm on stalker watch!
4. Ditto!!! This site has taught me to love something I've had for sooooo long =)

Those 3S's will haunt me for the rest of my life!! Hahahaha
1. I tried putting oil on my hair first, then conditioner, then gel (clear Eco Styler gel). My hair isn't Capt'n Crunchy (LOL!) but I didn't like that it was white. It's actually pretty soft even with the gel so maybe I should keep trying to use it. And thank you for the compliment!!!! But what are you talking about?? Your hair is totally thick and luscious and beautiful
2. I'm saying though!!! I would be happy with consistent weather personally but spring would be ideal
3. Exaclty I'm definitely on the lookout for IB
4. Hooray!!!! By the way the avatar is sooooo cute

Hmmm... my only conclusion is that maybe your conditioner doesn't like the gel?
And my hair "looks" thick.... it's actually very, VERY fine...

Yeah that is definitely a possibility! The conditioner was Nexxus Humectress in a spray bottle with water, oil and Infusium 23. That might not be the best combo with the gel. I'll have to try it again with another conditioner maybe
And that's interesting that your hair is thin. I didn't know looks could be so deceiving!! So you have a lot of hair, but thin strands yeah?
@Lynnie: it makes me laugh every time I think about it!

Re: bholmes87: twist challenge week 5!! Let's get it in!
Yup--exactly. I think that's why (protectant or not) I ALWAYS suffer heat damage using direct heat. Some naturals never have reversion problems, but I usually do--and even more so when I let other people do it. I told myself that this will be the LAST time I grow out straight pieces!!!!
But if I do go straight, I would LOVE to try MC silk wrap! I think that would be much more gentle on Nala =)

It's Hump Day ya'll!!!!
Hopefully your hair is treating you well and the Lord is treating you even better!!! Bless the Lord today with some gratitude, curlies. I think every day is a great day to just say, "THANK YOU JESUS!!!!" He's so worthy of the praise!
So Chlo "The Fro" isn't up to anything new. Just another day, another wash n'go because of this dance show. We're having the first dress rehearsal with an audience today and tomorrow begins that actual show! Yay!!! I did add a flower in my hair though. I'll have to take it out when I dance. Here are some pics of old Bella
These are from last night, after a run through of the show (hence the star on my face for one of the pieces I'm in)
And here she is this morning, still pretty wet from the water/conditioner spray!
And can I just say another HOORAY for IntelligentBeauty!!! She did her BC last night and she looks fabulous!! Go check out her thread
Alright lovelies, have a blessed day!

That you so much dear!!! Don't be scurred! LOL it sounds like you have someone to give you some great info on how to do it right. You should most definitely post that info when you get itIntelligentbeauty wrote:Oh what beautiful wash n gos you have! I want to try a wash n go, so bad but I am scurred... . I can't believe it's already Thursday!!! It's about to be the last week of the quarter for me and I have SOOOOOO much to do before finals it's not even funny! I got to get a move on for real
Chlo = still in a WnG until Saturday or Sunday. I'll be putting twists in for week 10 and finals week so I can focus on my work and not my hair cuz it can be time consuming (as you all know). Chlo is such a diva!!
So if I do what's good for me I will stay off of CN.com for the rest of the day. That's not very likely though
Be blessed curlistas!!!
Much love

Psalms 90:2 Before the mountains were born or You brought forth the earth and the world, from everlasting to everlasting YOU ARE GOD!!!
I am so grateful that it's Friday!!! Woo hoo!
So Chlo has 2 more days of being in a WnG and then I think she'll be in twists for 2 weeks. That way for finals I'm not wasting time pampering miss diva ... LOL then I plan on doing a roller set over spring break (which is only a week long ), as inspired my MagoganyCurls! I also really want to do a twist challenge so once I get a regimen set up, I want to keep twists in for a month at least. That's all loves! Have a wonderfully blessed and prosperous day

I look forward to seeing your rollerset. MahoganyCurls is my inspiration also.
Re: bholmes87: twist challenge week 5!! Let's get it in!
I'm so excited to try it!! But I don't have big rollers here so I have to take some from my sister cuz she NEVER uses them. As soon as I can get rollers I'm gonna do it
Re: bholmes87: twist challenge week 5!! Let's get it in!
Oooo, a roller set. Are you going to do it like Tia does hers? She bands her roots in sections then curls the ponytails. Once dry she wraps it with saran wrap and sits under the dryer for 20 mins, I think. I may be mixing up techniques now . Check out her fotki.

I thought about doing a roller set like Tia's but I think I'm gonna do it like MagohanyCurls. I feel like since MC's hair is closer to my length, I would get results more similar to hers. That may not be right at all but it makes sense in my mind! lol but I'm gonna do a saran wrap after the roller set too. I'm excited to see how it turns out
Re: bholmes87: twist challenge week 5!! Let's get it in!
Hey Bholmes87, I was studying your hair on your fotki. And it seems like we have the same hair coil action going on. However my coils seem smaller. Maybe it's because my hair is shorter, idk. I am still trying to figure it out. But my hair strands seems very slingky-like .
So here are my questions for you:
Do you detangle your hair at all? And with what?
Is your hair kind of straight or looser in the front? From your pics it looks that way. What do you do to curl it? Finger coil?
Have you always been able to do wash n gos?
Do you rake the conditioner in your hair by section for the WnGs?
Thanks. I have more questions but I can't think of them right now

1. I don't detangle my hair very often actually. While I was transitioning I would detangle like 2-3 times a week with a faux Denman brush (just a brush from the beauty supply store). So every time I got my hair wet I would detangle. Then when the relaxed ends were no more, I started detangling less often, but still with the brush. Recently I started using my wide tooth comb again to detangle (because I broke my brush. lol). I was also getting my hair wet less often because I was wearing twists longer. But right now, I usually only detangle when I deep condition, which is once a week. If I get my hair wet during the week or need to detangle, I just use my fingers.
2. Yeah my hair is DEFINITELY looser in the front! Like you said it's pretty straight. The ends kind of wave but other than that they don't do much of anything. I will either do a twist out for the front section to give it some texture or I just pin it back into a hump. Or I'll flat twist it to the side I tried to finger curl it and it looks really weird to me because the curls don't look like the rest of my hair. So I usually twist it overnight if I want to wear the front part of my hair "out".
3. That's a good question. I guess the answer is yes I've always been able to do wash n' gos. I always put the front part in a hump when I first went natural because I couldn't get it to curl (and I still can't really). I'm still perfecting my technique but I like WnG's best when it's just conditioner left in my hair
4. It depends for me. If I actually detangled my hair right before the WnG, I rake the conditioner in by section because I usually wash my hair in sections. If I didn't detangle that same day, I put a quarter sized amount on the ends, a quarter sized amount for the front and back, and 2 quarter sized amounts for the middle section. Then I shake, shake, shake and go!! Sometimes I add oil on top of the conditioner as well. I'm also working on a consistent regiment. LOL
Hopefully this helps sis!!!! I hope you end up trying a WnG very soon

Thanks Shainee!!!! The trick for me is to detangle (usually with just my fingers), add some conditioner, shake, and go! I don't really like using gel. I also try my hardest (and usually fail) to keep my hands OUT OF MY HAIR while it's wet. lol
