Ohhhh. I see. I'd definitely try again. I barely accessorized before my BC, but it gives you a more feminine look.

So, I told ya'll I was planning something extra snazzy for my hair. I did it, but it didn't come out quite the way I wanted. I'll post pics later. I took it down tonight and I washed my hair with Organix Tea Tree Mint Shampoo which I bought today on sale. I think there's something wrong with me. I think I've become desensitized to tingling. Because I did not get any cool or tingling feeling from this product. It could just be the product itself. But I'm not sure. I did like that my hair didn't feel as stripped as with the Giovanni or the Bioinfusion Rosemary Mint. However, since the tingling is the main reason I bought it, I will not be repurchasing.

Now comes the question of the day. I have a 70s skate party to go to tomorrow and I was contemplating blowing my hair out. But I'm really scared. I have not used heat on my hair since I've been natural and I would be devastated if I were to suffer any damage. As if I wasn't scared enough on my own, I went to grandma's today and she made it worse.Now ya'll know from previous stories, she's not even a fan of natural hair. However, she was going to give me some money for me to buy a blowdryer with the comb. However, later in the conversation, she was like, "Are you sure yo want to do that? You know once you do that it won't go back. I don't think you should do it." Yes folks, my grandmother. Who doesn't like natural hair, doesn't know much about natural hair somehow picked up in her lifetime the thought that if I blow dry my hair it will not curl back. I am scared.

If I do it, I would use the cool setting and use a heat protectant. But I'm concerned. What do ya'll think?

Check with ooop2 in curlfriends before you do anything. She is really good at making a fro. In her new avi she is wearing a fro. You may be able to do it without heat.

I get my hair blown out when I get it braided. I have had heat to my hair twice. But it is not major heat because she also uses the cool button from time to time. She also oils the hair so it is also protected. Every time I did that and washed Diva the curls were right back with NO PROBLEM. I think the blow out will be super cute for your skate party.

Be careful with the heat and use the coolest setting that will get the job done and you should be fine. I flat ironed my hair last week and all my curls came back.

NaturalNixon also straighten her hair the other week and all her curls came back.

I used IC Fantasia heat protectant and it worked great. I think doing a blow out will be fine as long as you don't use the "hell" temperature setting and also help your hair straighten without heat by stretching first with banding or plaits.

The salon I used to go to always encouraged clients to go natural and do blowouts instead. They used blow dyers and flat irons and people's hair, including mine, always went back to it's natural curls.

You should be fine, especially on the cool setting. I'm sure you'll find some expert advice on here somewhere though. Good luck! And post pics....a 70's party sounds fun. I know you'll look cute.

I tried the Organix Tea Tree Mint Condish, and there was a little tingle, not much. I also tried the generic brand Of Paul Mitchell Tea Tree from Sally's, and it was more tingle with that.

I did a blow out when I got my hair braided. You know my hair is very forgiving...I didn't use anything!! That was so wrong, but you see my hair has curled right back up!!! (I'll never do that again)

So...like everyone said...use a heat protectant and cool...not the hell setting like Tia stated...LOL

Thanks ladies for all your encouragement and support. So, I proudly rocked my fro this weekend. They actually decided to make it an 80s party instead of a 70s party. And we ended up bowling instead of skating. Lol.

But I won't keep you waiting any longer...

Now, let me tell you the best part about this look. I DID NOT USE HEAT! This is NOT a blowout. I repeat, THIS IS NOT A BLOWOUT! Following the suggestion from IB, I checked out Ooops thread in Curlfriends. I followed her technique to get the fro. I did two strand twists the night before. Then I untwisted, combed each twist with a fine tooth comb, retwists, untwist again, and then pull and fluff. At then end, I patted it down some just to make it even. So, that isn't even as long as it could be. Here's some pics before I shaped it down.







Look at all that hair! That is DEFINITELY NOT a TWA!!!!!!!!!! Yayyyyyyy!!!!!!!!

You look sooo cute! You are very photogenic anyway, always taking great pics. The fro looks fantastic. So I called my mom and she said when she wore her fro in the 70's she didn't blow dry but did a similar method with braiding/twisting her hair and then picking it out to get a BAA.

Girl your hair is growing. I love Afro's, i cant wait until i can rock one. hope you had fun.
